    Thermal insulation under foundation slab and the impact of frost

    Nowadays we have increasingly important impact on the environment. That can be significantly improved by changing the way constructions are designed and built. After 2020 energy efficient constructions will be the only proper way of designing new constructions. \ud Thermal bridging represents significant part of heat loss in building envelope. For energy efficient construction, we need building envelope that insures thermal and energy performance. The thesis illustrates thermal loses through foundation slab due to poorly designed and executed details. Nevertheless, we cannot forget the negative impact of frost on foundation slab in winter time, which can produce serious construction damages. To that end the thesis presents findings of new solutions and materials for structural assembly of foundation slab with external wall. For more detailed calculations of thermal bridges, THERM 7.4 software was used, which is based on the finite-element and can model the complicated geometries of building products

    Creating the application to guide users through Slovenian hiking trails

    This dissertation introduces an application for smart phones on the Android platform. The application helps users simplify orientation and navigation in the mountains and throughout other hiking activities.\ud The beginning of the dissertation addresses the most commonly used, similar applications both at home and abroad. The following description presents some basic information about hiking trails and the development of the hiking trails’ database that is under the domain of the Alpine Association of Slovenia. Further on, information about the development environment and tools used during the application’s creation is presented. The conclusion details an indepth presentation of the application, which is written with the help of the described tools and data

    Comparison of land use in the municipalities of Cerklje na Gorenjskem and Preddvor based on municipal spatial acts

    In Graduation thesis we were studying changes in basic and detailed land use in the municipalities of Cerklje na Gorenjskem and Preddvor. The changes of land use were established by comparison of municipal medium-term social plans (hereafter PS SDPO) and municipal spatial plans (hereafter OPN). Municipalities, their normative starting points and the content of PS SDPO and OPN were briefly presented. In the practical part, comparison of basic and detailed land use areas of the entire two previously listed municipalities, Cerklje na Gorenjskem and Preddvor, between PS SDPO (2004) and OPN (2014) is made. Data were processed and analyzed in ArcGIS 10.3 and Excell and displayed them in maps and figures. With the analize of studies changes of land use, we have found that the share of residential areas in both communities has increased. In Cerklje na Gorenjskem municipality it has increased for 2,02 % at the cost of agricultural land and in Preddvor municipality the increase was 0,19 % at the cost of agricultural and forest land.With the analysis of the area in terms of population in Cerklje na Gorenjskem municipality, we have found that increased number of residents coused residental space per capita to decrease for 31,39 m2. In Preddvor municipality we have come to the similar findings, except that the area of residental land per capita in predvor decreased for 31,79 m2

    Assessing the impact of overflow water, a part of the Črnomelj sewerage system, into the Dobličica river

    The thesis deals with the first flush phenomenon. Given are the definitions of the first flush, the method\ud for defining the event mean concentration and the procedure of defining mass first flush ratio, which\ud gives us the quantity of the mass of emitted pollutants, as a function of the storm progress indicated by\ud the normalized runoff volume. The second part describes programme SWMM (Storm Water\ud Management Model). The third part represents the results of measurements which took place at Vič in\ud Ljubljana. The analysis took place in all seasons and it contained twenty parameters. The fourth part\ud shows results of measurements on the stormwater overflow in Črnomelj and the influence of overflow\ud water on the quality of the Dobličica river. I used the results for calibration of the model in SWMM.\ud With that model, I simulated the oscillation of the pollutants over time. I defined the mass of wash-off\ud pollutants in the rainfall event of 21 November 2015 in which there were 20 millimetres of rainfall after\ud 20 droughty days. With the results of simulation, I determined the event mean concentration and the\ud amount of mass emission in relation to cumulative flow volume. It was found that if the stormwater\ud overflow and stormwater holding tank worked correctly, pollution would be reduced by 70%. I also used\ud the calibrated model in simulating the rainfall event with duration of 30 minutes and one-year return\ud period. Simulation was set with 20-day and 50-day dry period

    Comparison of 2D and 3D geotechnical analysis of reinforced concrete shafts for the mitigation of Šmihel landslide

    The thesis presents the rehabilitation of Šmihel landslide. In the process reinforced concrete shafts\ud were used. The mitigation was based on the numerical finite element method analysis. In the first part\ud the landslide situation is presented along with field and laboratory tests. On the basis of SPT and\ud laboratory tests, mechanical properties of soils are determined and used in the numerical analysis. The\ud second part of the thesis presents the modelling and calculation of the landslide in 2D and 3D working\ud environment. The comparison of the results shows the advantages and disadvantages of 2D and 3D\ud analysis. The influence of the drainage on global stability and loading of the structure is also taken into\ud consideration. Internal forces calculated with the numerical analysis are used for dimensioning of steel\ud reinforcement in critical cross sections, which is the basis for drawing detailed reinforcement plans

    Analysis of existing double linked hayrack to Eurocod standards

    We have taken measurements of the building then we have drawn the construction plans and\ud we have done the static analysis and bearing strength of the wooden structure. We have\ud assessed the strength classes of the used wood because they are important for the structural\ud design of timber structures. For the base of the models in the linear static analysis were\ud simplified combined parts of the structure. Results of the analysis were diagrams of force and\ud deformation diagrams. They were acquired with the computer program SAP2000 with the input\ud loads being assessed using Eurocode standards. With the obtained results we have checked\ud the dimensions of the individual structural elements. Furthermore dimensioning was based on\ud the method of limit state (MSN) and the method of marginal status utility (MSU). The final\ud analysis has shown that the existing structure is well constructed and the dimensions of the\ud structural elements are more than enough. However from the point of material consumption is\ud somewhat wasteful. This is mostly due to some poorly constructed intersections between\ud structural elements

    Testing instrument Meteo Station HM30

    The following diploma thesis focuses on three physical quantities, which define atmospheric\ud conditions, and on instruments to measure them. Temperature, humidity, and barometric pressure\ud influence the air density and the related optical density. Actual atmospheric conditions have to be\ud observed while conducting precise measurement of distances. Changes of the air refractive index have\ud to be compensated for in the results. Equations for calculation of the actual refractive index and the\ud actual distance acknowledge the influence of meteorological parameters on the distance values.\ud Tests were performed on the meteorological station Meteo Station HM30. To optimise the conditions\ud of taking temperature and humidity readings, a device for forced induction was designed, which\ud carried the probe. The tests examined the time of thermal conditioning and possibilities of the probe\ud set up, as well as the analysis of possible influences.\ud The probe performed very well in the device for forced induction. No influence on the temperature\ud readings were indicated on account of various depths and rotations of the probe. The time of thermal\ud conditioning was equal to the time expected by the manufacturer

    Review and application of methods for developing synthetic storm hyetographs

    The first part of this thesis presents the most used synthetic hyetograph methods worldwide. A short\ud summary of statistical analysis of precipitation events is made and the statistical tools needed for\ud designing synthetic hyetographs are presented. The term project storm as well as the IDF and Huff\ud curves are introduced.\ud In the practical part of this thesis synthetic hyetograph were made using different methods for rainfall\ud station Šmartno pri Slovenj Gradcu. They were then used in HEC-HMS hydrological model for\ud computing flood waves of the Velunja River. The influence of the selected time interval and the\ud position of the peak of the precipitation is also presented.\ud Results show the differences amoung considered methods. Differences in peak discharge, time to peak\ud and runoff volume were demonstrated. Methods having the option of choosing the time interval gave\ud similar results for different time intervals. On the other hand, results show that changing the time of\ud the peak of the hyetograph can significantly influence on the time and the peak of the runoff\ud hydrograph

    Capacity analysis of two intersections in Ivančna Gorica

    In my graduation thesis I analysed two intersections in Ivančna Gorica, with the greatest congestions during the peak hour. I carried out a capacity analysis with a micro-simulation tool that allows analysis between two intersections and a level railway crossing. There’s a presentation of traffic load, level of service, length of queues and delays for every lane in existing condition for selected intersections and several different rearrangements of the intersections. For the existing condition and the appropriate variants I prepared microsimulation of traffic after twenty years and thus verified the relevance of variants in the planned period. The most optimal solution is to rearrange both intersections into a roundabout.\ud The major trouble is the proximity of the railway crossing, so the municipality has planned to complete the western bypass with a split-level railway crossing. This would partly relieve the centre of Ivančna Gorica, where the selected intersections are set. The rearrangement of the first intersection into roundabout is planned, but with the available data I have shown that just the reconstruction of one intersection wouldn’t suffice to provide appropriate flow capacity for the area during the plan period

    Greening parking lots and vehicular access to public roads

    The theme of graduation thesis regarded two basic sections. The first chapter concerns about the organization of the parking lots with a higher level of amenities (»greening« surface parking lot), the second chapter refers to the comparison of Slovenian policy about road access to the public roads with the policies applied abroad.\ud The first chapter regarded the field of parking lot arrangements with a higher level of services, based on the guidelines which are applied in Canada. Findings obtained with the analysis and additional consideration of boundary conditions from Slovenian standards, are applied at a practical example. The findings are also illustrated with graphic attachments.\ud The second chapter summarize and analyse existing documentation for the design of road access to the public roads, in use in the area of Slovenia, England and the USA. Main areas of this chapter is the comparison of visibility requirements and design solutions for vehicular access to public roads. The findings are introduced on a practical example and presented in graphical annexes
