    Suitability of sustainable measores to slow down of water on floodlands

    Slovenia is a highly affluent country. This is showed on some parts, as problem with occasional flooding on extreme events. On the second hand, a human was changing floodplains for his own dedicated use and that is how the place for a spillover events was took away from rivers. In years during 2007 and 2010, events like these took place on major part of a country. That also initiated aspirations for regulation of flood security and protections of citizens and property. I tried to introduce appropriateness of sustainable arranging on such areas in a thesis. Firstly, I tried to present myself all of it together with laws, that are valid on this field. I analysed hereinafter, what sustainable arranging and ecoremediations are and what does it mean for water retention on a certain area and tried to show how this influences on height of flood peak time at such extreme events. I also tried to develop idea, how to enrich certain area with such encroachment and how we can use it in other purposes, like recreation, tourism and educational intention. All together was than checked with a program Hec Ras, with 2D modeling, in a chosen section of flood river Vipava

    Model for track degradation due to geometry defects

    The most common causes of degradation of the track are uneven settling of the track due to inhomogeneity of the base, inadequate maintenance, poor state of the upper and lower structure, etc. In predicting the degradation of the track we need to know when the limits of the geometric parameters of the track are exceeded in order to decide in due time for effective planning of maintenance and renovation work and for taking other measures to ensure railway safety. The aim of this master’s thesis is to investigate the most important models of track degradation due to geometry defects, select a model suitable for use in Slovenia, and test this model in practice along a selected section of railway line. Based on the available data on traffic loads by individual rail sections and data on the measurement of the track with a measuring train, the Austrian and Swedish models of degradation of the track were found to be the most suitable for use in the Slovenian context. The Austrian degradation model is particularly well suited for predicting degradation of the track due to various geometric errors, depending on the initial state of the track quality and traffic load. The Swedish degradation model addresses the track geometry degradation as a function of the standard deviation of the longitudinal level defects and standard deviation of the right and left alignment defects. With the introduction of technical specifications on interoperability, determination of the standard deviation of defects has become a mandatory criterion for assessing the geometric quality of the track in Slovenia as well. The applicability of both models was tested in practice along a relatively new section of track between Gornje Ležeče and Divača and along a section of track between Ljubljana and Brezovica that was renovated 36 years ago. Degradation of the railway track was monitored after the last regulation by tamping machine in 2012 until 2015. The research showed a very good correlation between data actually measured and the results calculated using the proposed models

    Fire safety analysis of the Crystal palace based on optimized BIM model

    This master's thesis comprehensively explores fire safety in high-rise buildings. A fire safety analysis was performed on a model of the Crystal Palace skyscraper, which, at 89 meters, is the tallest building in Slovenia today (2016). A BIM model of the entire building was generated (Archicad) to be used with the software for fire (PyroSim) and evacuation analysis (Pathfinder).\ud The BIM model of the building was optimized in a way it could be directly imported into the software for fire and evacuation analysis. The fire safety analysis of the Crystal Palace was performed in line with the most recent applicable Slovenian laws, and technical guidelines\ud TSG-1-001:2010 and MHHR (Muster-Hochhaus-Richtlinie, 2008). Furthermore, a comparison of the fire study performed as a part of this thesis and an existing study that was carried out in accordance with the Swiss VKF guidelines is presented. The study data were also used to prepare a fire safety statement for the concerned building. In the scope of the fire analysis,three key (reference) floors were analyzed using PyroSim software. All fire systems which are\ud located in the studied fire compartments (floors) were taken into account in the numerical model, i.e. the automatic fire detection and fire alarm system, fire sprinkler system, mechanical smoke extraction system and natural smoke and heat extraction system. The results of the\ud spread of smoke over the floor were taken into account in the evacuation analysis in Pathfinder which was used to analyze the speed of evacuation from the building. Furthermore, the importance of the fireman’s elevator is also presented (analysed) in the numerical studies. The\ud last part of the thesis is dedicated to the analysis of the security lighting on the reference floor which was performed in DIALux.     Field analysis of thermal bridges with IR camera and assessment of their influence on the building energy consumption

    The thesis consists of field evaluation of thermal bridges on real buildings with the help of IR camera. For this purpose we made a catalog of thermal bridges which is based on the standard SIST EN ISO 14683 and completed with the IR pictures of realistic thermal bridges. In the second part of the thesis we calculated the influence of thermal bridges on the energy consumption of our chosen building. The chosen building is modern family house located in Ljubljana. Energy consumption was calculated on three different ways regarding thermal bridges. The first calculation was in accordance with Slovenian technical building guide (TSG-01-004-3.1.2). The second calculation was based on the standard SIST EN ISO 14683 with the difference that no thermal bridge was included. The last calculation was basically no different than the second one except that all the thermal bridges that are possible on the building were included. The final result was a conclusion that it is really important which method is used in calculating the buildings energy consumption. First and second calculation showed only a small difference in the results. However results of the third calculation were very different from the first two, supporting our conclusion

    Methology of rent assessment for the instalment of optical cables into a public lighting duct

    The purpose of this thesis is to show the method of rent assessment for the instalment of optical cables into a public ligthing duct system when the owner of such a duct system is the local community and the future lessee is the administrator of a communications network. First the elementary characteristics of construction and usage of communications networks and public lighting networks will be shown, the emphasis on the specificities of communications networks. Next, we will show how to assesse the value of rent for the purpose of a public ligthing duct system lease, using the methodology of rent assesment for the instalment of optical cables into a public ligthing duct system. The value of the average cost of construction of a public lighting duct system in the City Municipality of Kranj is calculated on the basis of the cost of construction of a duct system and the value of land. The initial value of annual rent is estimated by using the method of direct capitalization. The usage of adjustment factors for the rent assessment of specific, concrete examples is described next. In the last chapter rent assessments of specific cases of the instalment of optical cables into a public ligthing duct system in various locations in the City Municipality of Kranj are presented. The evaluation of the adequacy of assessed rents follows. In the closing arguments we recommend that before a duct system is leased, records of free capacities and a plan of development of the public lighting network are made

    Anaerobic digestion of biodegradable substrates

    The purpose of this thesis is to research the decomposition of leftover cooking oil and biomethane potential. To determine the anaerobic digestion we first used batch device Automatic Methane Potential Test System (AMPTS II). The methane production was significantly different when we used just the leftover cooking oil compared to controlled reactor. The latter was dosed the primary sludge and we created the same conditions as they have in the central cleaning plant Domžale - Kamnik. To be able to compare it to the real reactor we monitored the function of the anaerobic reactor in CCP Domžale – Kamnik. We wanted to confirm the results obtained from the batch mode also on the bigger, almost 200L semi-continuous pilot reactor

    We adopted the Water Framework Directive, therefore we are committed to the sustainable use of water resources. It is also necessary to prevent the deterioration of the water. River basin management plan sets the foundation for achieving appropriate quality of water. When analyzing the availability and use of water it is necessary to determine the current conditions of water areas for further analyses. In this diploma paper we focused on the analysis of the Mirna River Basin, which is with its 44 km the third longest river in Dolenska and belongs to the Sava river basin.     Comparison of designer's cost estimate with actual cost - case study

    The thesis shows practical ways of evaluating construction costs, which are necessary for the investor to be informed of expected final value and thus be able to make decisions about the intent of construction. In this context, we examined the laws and building regulations, which currently deal with the quantity surveying of designer documentation. This is followed by a look at the purpose of quantity surveying, its composition and the importance of its correct formulation due to the potential impact on the change in the contract price. Finally a cpecific construction of a structure is considered with a brief introduction of the site and the comparison of the actual cost of construction with the designer's extimate. Based on the comparison of the final bill and the construction book, the most divergent values of individual items are identified and the cause for divergence is established. When ckecking the quantities set, we used the software CostX, which as proven to be a particularly suitable tool for faster electronic surveying and ease of documentation

    An analysis of public utility infrastructure heights within the Rudnik industrial park

    This thesis provides a theoretical and practical approach to recording commercial public infrastructure (CPI). Structured CPI collections provide crucial information for a number of spatial management processes; the Consolidated Cadastre of Commercial Public Infrastructure is an environment best described as a meeting point for users and owners of the data. Users no longer need to approach the owners and managers of such infrastructure to acquire these data, as the necessary information can be obtained via a common entry point and a single query in the Consolidated Cadastre of Commercial Public Infrastructure.\ud CPI data in the consolidated cadastre are publicly accessible online, where users can retrieve up-to-date data for the desired parcels of land. In the second part of the thesis, measurements were performed on-site and the heights of characteristic points of the CPI structures so obtained were compared with the heights entered into the records of the public utility company Javno podjetje Vodovod Kanalizacija, d. o. o. (VO-KA). An analysis of the measurements performed on-site and the comparison of the results with the officially recorded heights for the characteristic points of the CPI structures confirmed our reservations regarding the quality of recorded data on utility lines. Correct data on the heights of CPI structures can only be obtained by choosing suitable reference points, and it is crucial to associate them with the benchmarks of state or city-wide levelling networks or all geodetic points the heights of which are measured with a 1 mm degree of precision

    Analysis of construction project development of single-family house "Hiša Bernardin"

    The purpose of this diploma thesis was an overview of the necessary project documentation for the construction and legal regulations governing this area. Legal regulations represent a certain framework, but each construction has its own characteristics and requirements, which an investor must meet to obtain the necessary permits for construction and use of the facility. \ud In analyzing the development of the onstruction phases 1-5 we listed legal regulations and the basic concepts related to the subject matter and the procedures which the investor confronts upon the construction of detached building. The comparison between the general requirements for the construction and the requirements of the particular case of detached building House Bernardin, analyzed the costs and financial impact of the potential sale at the real estate market. On the basis of comparative analysis it was discovered that the construction project is not successful
