    Amphibious building on the Ljubljana marsh

    Floods in Slovenia and around the world cause a lot of damage. Numerous experts for climate change\ud warn about the global warming and its consequences, because they will intensify in the future,\ud therefore flooding will be more frequent and intense. At the same time the population is increasing,\ud people are building more and more on flood-prone areas, therefore flood damage will increase.\ud Amphibious construction is excellent flood-proof technique and presents the perfect solution for\ud different flood-prone areas. It provides optimal security for the property, without the necessary\ud rebuilding after the flood, has no harmful impact on the environment and preserves the appearance of\ud neighborhoods and existing architectural character. Ljubljana Marsh is affected with annual flooding.\ud This thesis introduces the first amphibious building in Slovenia placed on the Ljubljana Marshes,\ud which is dimensioned and positioned in space according with the regulations and spatial planning\ud instruments. In the thesis are additionally shown various calculations of the flood water impact on the\ud building and its response

    Modeling the data of a terrestrial laser scanning for use in virtual reality

    In this master's thesis we explore the 3D modeling of point clouds that were obtained through terrestrial laser scanning, methods of obtaining 3D models and their usability in virtual reality and video games. The thesis consists of a theoretical part and a practical part. The theoretical part describes types of 3D models and 3D data, ways to obtain them and forms of their usage. It also deals with the history of video gaming and virtual reality as a constituent of the video game industry, types of video games with a focus on “First person” video games that take place in constructed virtual 3D spaces and consist of moving through the virtual space along with solving various tasks. Elements of video games that are connected to multi-medial cartography and geodesy and geoinformatics in general are also addressed. The practical part of the thesis consists of three parts: acquiring of the data (scanning of the object), data processing (registration of point clouds, model-building) and the use of the model (making an application through a game engine that enables a virtual walk). For the acquiring of the data (scanning), a historically important object was chosen. Several programs that enable point cloud processing and model-making were used during the data processing. Finally, the simplest way of using a game engine for building a level of a virtual walk around a model object is described. The particular game engine was used to make various video games, many of them quite well known

    Public procurement in construction: analysis of the process from tender documentation to the preparation of the offer

    The thesis deals with the execution of a public tender in the field of construction. The\ud analysis starts by the identification of the need for investment by the customer, and ends with\ud the preparation of the offer by the bidder.\ud It presents the legislation concerning public procurement, and it analyses in detail the\ud provisions that have a significant impact on the determination of the selling price. The thesis\ud specifically deals with the estimated value of the public tender that may be published on the\ud procurement portal. A questionnaire and statistical analysis are used to verify the impact of\ud published estimates on the act of fixing the prices by suppliers.\ud Bill of quantities (BoQ) is an essential part of the tender documentation and the basis for\ud costing of construction works. In the thesis, the composition of a bill of quantities is analyzed\ud and the deficiencies that affect the quality of it are evidenced.\ud The traditional method of construction cost estimation, presented in the Slovenian literature,\ud is based on the bill of quantities. In this method the calculation of the tender price is based on\ud calculation of cost for each item in the bill of quantities. In the thesis the method is presented\ud on a case study. For the same case study the so-called non-traditional method is used as an\ud alternative that is used in practice. In the conclusion the advantages of the non-traditional\ud method are exposed, and consequently reasons are obtained, for why alternatives to the\ud traditional way of construction cost estimation are used

    Geodetic works in less demanding construction

    The thesis describes all geodetic work in construction of buildings as defined by law. Below we define less demanding constructions, such as detached houses, which don't include all geodetic work defined by construction law. A report of surveying services is created for all geodetic work. Before the start of construction the regulation of boundaries and a parcel division was carried out. During the construction of less demanding constructions, there are generally no surveying services provided. The entry of the object into official records follows the completion of construction

    This master's thesis presents the analysis of the watercourses of the Tržiška Bistrica sub-basin, carried out to determine their suitability for hydropower water use and bearing in mind such objectives as the achievement of good water status and nature conservation. The analysis of watercourse sections is designed to ensure the coordination of national and European objectives with the objectives of achieving good water status and nature conservation (European Commission, 2003). The two main aspects of the hydropower water use suitability analysis are the aspects of attractiveness and environmental vulnerability. Account must be taken of the criteria determining the suitability for inclusion on the one hand and of nature conservation on the other hand. The results of this thesis can provide an appropriate basis for balanced strategic planning at local community level as well as at national level. The hydropower suitability analysis area covers the area of the Tržiška Bistrica river basin and includes watercourses with contributory areas larger than 10 km2. The objective is therefore to identify the most suitable locations for positioning hydropower systems along the three main watercourses that make up the Tržiška Bistrica sub-basin. Suitable locations have high hydropower potential and relatively low ecological and landscape value and, though appropriate use of hydropower, would not have a significant negative ecological impact

    The influence of different conditions for the static GNSS positioning

    The thesis presents static processing results of fieldwork GNSS observations performed in nearly ideal conditions. Three sessions of static observations were performed at the field by different combination of GNSS receivers’ usage at the end of the baselines. While obtaining observations the cut-off angle was set on 0°, but during the processing we simulated obstacles near GNSS receivers by increasing cut-off angle. We estimated how the obstacles influence the coordinates and tried to find the answer of which cut-off angle in the presence of obstacles could be negligible. We checked the effect of different types of ephemeris (broadcast and final precise) usage on final coordinate’s determination. Based on different strategy processing results, i.e. different sampling rate as well as shorter observation duration, we studied which factor has more influence on the coordinates’ quality. Coordinates acquired from relative post-processing were further used as the reference for studying the absolute PPP (Precise Point Positioning) post-processing results, where PPP coordinates were calculated by online applications MagicGNSS and TrimbleRTX. Finally, different coordinates were used in distances, horizontal angles and areas calculations to find out how different quality of coordinates affects indirect acquired quantities

    Renovation of the auxiliary structure and its surroundings

    This thesis represents a multi-criteria method, which is used in a case of renovation and change of use of selected facility – auxiliary facility and castle surroundings in Logatec. For renovation of auxiliary facility we suggested three possible solutions, and for surrounding areas we suggested arrangement for tourism and free time activity. The Municipality of Logatec has adopted the Ordinance on municipal location plan where there is determined which interventions in the mentioned area are permitted. Besides working costs we have taken into consideration also the duration of renovation and the functionality of facility. In the conclusion of this thesis we recommend the most favorable possibility and argue it

    In introduction this diploma thesis describes all main characteristics of (single block)? industrial steel hall with bridge crane. Load arrangement on the supporting structure which covers general actions (snow load and wind action), self-weight and dynamic load of bridge crane was designed with moment resisting frame in transverse direction and frame with concentric diagonal bracing in longitudinual direction. Actions induced by crane bridge was considered in design of runway beam. Steel hall was\ud designed for eartquake resistance

    Methods for determining shrinkage of cementitious systems

    Shrinkage of cementitious system is manifested in the reduction of the system’s volume, without the influence of external forces. It can have a major impact on the durability of buildings and civil engineering structures. Therefore, it is essential to measure shrinkage and on the basis of these measurements to develop less-shrinkable materials. However, due to the different compositions of\ud these materials and different shrinkage types, there are many methods for measuring shrinkage, which may be standardized or in development. The results of these methods often differ and are sometimes even contradictory.\ud The first part of the thesis focuses on the review of test methods for the determination of shrinkage. It includes their description and mutual comparison. To better understand the process of shrinkage the thesis includes also theoretical background on the shrinkage types and the influence of constituent materials on shrinkage. The second part of the thesis presents the results of experimental work, which was carried out in the company TKK d.o.o. from Srpenica. In this part we measured early shrinkage (up to 24 hours) with non-standardised method “Shrinkage cone” and long term shrinkage (from 24 hours up to 28 days) with the method in accordance with standard EN 12617-4: 2002. The tests were carried out on different compositions of grouts. Based on the results of experimental work we evaluated the two methods. We also estimated the optimal time window to start the measurement of shrinkage
