Influence of installation conditions on load capacity of bonded anchors for primary construction elements
The thesis Influence of installation conditions on load capacity of bonded anchors for primary construction elements presents market analysis of bonded anchors at slovenian construction sites. By using the on-line survey as the research tool, show detailed view on use and appearance of bonded anchors was obtained.. The most common products and dimensions of anchors among users were than, with standard procedures, tested on a load resistance. The testing procedure for tension tests that enables the analysis of the influence of installation conditions on bond strength of anchors, and was therefore used in the experimental part of the research, is described in detail in this chapter as well. It has been frequently observed that the contractors of various construction works often use diamond core bits to drill holes necessary for the installation of bonded anchors. This drilling technique is often not tested and as such, it is not mentioned in the ETA approvals as appropriate for many types of bonded anchors. The obtained experimental results show that the drilling technique significantly influences the results of the tests.\ud
These results are of extreme importance to everybody who is involved in work with bonded anchors (i.e. design and consulting engineers, supervisors, clients, contractors and subcontractors, owners) since this data was so far lacking. The research results show that we have to be cautious when bonded anchors are used in diamond drilled holes, while they have no Technical Approval for this installation procedure. All of three tested products show significant bonded strength decrease when the anchors are installed in diamond drilled holes, compared to the values measured on anchors installed in hammer drilled holes. It can be expected that, based on the obtained results, all project stakeholders will have a higher level of awareness regarding the influence of the selection of drilling technique, if the anchors are not approved for this kind of installation. The conducted experimental work shows that the reduction of bond strength can achieve up to 70% for some products, if diamond drilling technique is employed instead of the hammer drilling
Establishment, measurement and calculation of calibration field for calibrating
The diploma thesis deals with the establishment of a geodetic network for the purpose of calibration fields for calibration of cameras on unmanned aircraft from stabilization to the final coordinates of points. We describe all procedures that have to be made. The specially designed geodetic points from stainless steel were stabilized in the kerbside on parking lot petrol station in Vipava. Measurements were simulated before the measurement in different ways with the aim of determining the quality of points positions. Moreover, we have made measurement of the geodetic network, where we put a lot of attention to the precise signaling points. Preliminary data preparation is followed by leveling redundant measurements, especially for height and the situation in the horizontal plane. Some of the points positions were determined by an eight-hour static measurement of GNSS in Slovenian realization coordinate system ETRS89. Furthermore, with similarity transformation to date these points we transformed the positions of points where we passed only classical geodetic measurements. The final result of the diploma thesis are transformed coordinates of all the points of geodetic network calibration field in the coordinate system ETRS89
Design of a wooden house
In my diploma a wooden family house of rectangular ground plan with sides of 12.47 metres and 7.10 metres is designed. In vertical direction, its own weight and imposed loads were taken into account, as well as snow and wind load. Load analysis was done using Slovenian national code SIST EN 1991-1. The roofing is made of wooden truss members. To undertake loads in each floor, cross laminated timber plates are used. In the area with glass surfaces, wooden beams transmit vertical forces via wooden columns on the surrounding wall panels. The house is located in seismically active area. In the calculations the horizontal seismic forces are taken into account according to the national code SIST EN 1998. Seismic force is taken over by frame-panel walls. Internal forces due to static loads in the load-bearing elements of the building are calculated with a computer software SAP 2000, while a seismic model of the building is calculated with a Tower 6 model builder software
Comparison of quality management systems in high added value production company and construction company
This diploma thesis deals with quality management systems in conformity with ISO 9001:2008. In the first part, we briefly describe the development of management systems from their initial phase (organization of labour division) to the quality management systems as we know them today. A brief description of the areas which are important for the establishment and the maintenance of a certified or of an uncertified quality management system will follow. In the second part, the quality management system of an electrical engineering company is presented first, followed by the presentation of a chosen construction company. Finally, a comparison of both quality management systems is made based on the quality manuals prepared by the companies. The findings show that considerable differences in quality management occur especially at the implementation stage: the scope of the certification with respect to the scope of the work, the number of connections between the processes and their documentation, especially in the documents of the second and lower stages
Load-bearing systems of modern large span timber structures
This graduation thesis presents load-bearing systems of modern timber structures, suitable for large spans. For easier understanding of wooden wide span capabilities thesis presents already finished structures built around the world. A precondition to achieve large span lies in modern wooden products which are described in second chapter. Choice of suitable load-bearing system is also important. Thesis also covers timber load-bearing systems of large objects and wide span timber bridges.\ud
In general I divided supporting systems in planar and spatial. Systems suitable for wide spans are described in detail. Their features and most commonly used fasteners are also described. I introduced the dominant load-bearing systems of timber bridges and their usage in practice.\ud
This thesis also presents forecasts for the development of timber structures in the future, which depend on the research and development of materials, fasteners and software
Effects of sustainable measures on runoff hydrograph in an urbanized drainage area
Urbanization changes characteristics of a drainage area and alters components of a natural hydrologic cycle. Runoff volumes increase, stormwater runs off more quickly and consequently peak flows become larger. Human alteration of the flow regime changes the natural pattern of hydrologic variation and disturbance, which may ultimately lead to river ecosystem degradation. For this reason an alternative stormwater management approach has been devised that mimics natural hydrologic functions by means of sustainable measures which manage rainfall where it falls. \ud
This investigation uses a hydrological model to evaluate the effectiveness of different sustainable measures and their combinations in reducing runoff volumes and peak flows on a small drainage area which is representative for a wider city center of Ljubljana. We assumed these measures to be distributed across the drainage area having regard to the current legislation, spatial and technical constraints. The effects were studied for rainfall events of different return periods. Discharge measurements were made at the drainage area outflow and a rain gauge was situated in the vicinity of the study site.\ud
In the case of events with a return period of 1 year or less, the runoff volumes and peak flows reduction was approximately 45 % in both cases, when simulating a combination of measures, involving infiltration shafts, pipe infiltration trench elements and green roofs. On the other hand, when simulating the same combination of sustainable measures for a 100 year event, the reduction of runoff volume and peak flow was only 12 % and 10 % respectively. We’ve arrived at a conclusion that sustainable measures are more effective in reducing runoff volumes and peak flows for smaller and more frequent rainfall events
Transfer of Telecommunication Network documentation into Geographic information system
The transition to the geographic information system brings several advantages to the companies that\ud
own or manage public infrastructure, the main advantage being easier and faster access to required\ud
information. The spatial data is the key feature of the geographic information system. This thesis deals\ud
with the transferring of data on telecommunication network from technical documentation to the\ud
current information system. First, the spatial data needs to be converted into an appropriate format,\ud
which can then be imported into the information system. This process is the most important and the\ud
most challenging part of the project. For this reason, the thesis includes a detailed description of the\ud
digitalization of raster graphics from technical documentation to vector spatial data; it covers the\ud
procedure of preparing source data, the description of the data capture process, the quality control and,\ud
finally, the analysis of the data capture process. The indicated procedures uses a computer software\ud
built especially for the purpose of the project
Conceptual plan of cycling connection around lake Zbilje
The thesis presents the conceptual plan of bicycle paths around the lake Zbiljsko. The first part\ud
describes the theoretical basis of modern and guidance they need to plan routes. In the second part\ud
they are presented two variants of bike paths around the lake Zbiljsko with corresponding\ud
longitudinal profiles. It analyzed the existing situation, where the cycling route and associated cross\ud
sections in selected segments.\ud
The aim of the thesis is to connect the city center in Medvode, cultural attractions in Smlednik and\ud
recreational - tourist center in Zbilje. Encourage the cycling and investment in cycling\ud
infrastructure
Seismic design of reinforced concrete bridge and estimation of the seismic risk
Bridge structures enable us to span natural and artificial barriers and are the key meaning for\ud
connecting and the agglomeration of people. Because of their importance it is necessary to design and\ud
build them in a way that they even in a case of extreme natural events (e.g. a strong earthquake) keep\ud
their purpose and allow communication with affected areas. Because strong earthquakes are a\ud
comperatively rare event, we do not assure structures within the process of designing to have an elastic\ud
response, because of the uneconomical aspect. Usually we assure structures a bit smaller load capacity\ud
and with that we allow damage within chosen elements of the structure that can be renovated after a\ud
strong earthquake. Ability of the structure to withstand damage (plastic deformation) is called\ud
structure ductility. When designing bridge structures we usually allow plastic deformation in columns\ud
at the connection with the foundation and/or at the connection with the slab. In this master's thesis we\ud
show a procedure of designing a typical short reinforced concrete bridge in accordance with the\ud
standard Eurocode 8/2 that contains such approach for designing structures. Even though that bridge\ud
response in case of strong earthquakes is explicitly nonlinear, design procedures generally still base on\ud
results of a linear-elastic analysis. Because of this, we also evaluated the seismic response of the\ud
structure with help of the simplified nonlinear analysis, which is based on a pushover analysis that was\ud
proposed with the N2 method. This method contains the nonlinear static analysis of the structure\ud
model with multiple degrees of freedom (MDOF system) and the nonlinear dynamic analysis of the\ud
equivalent structure model with a single degree of freedom (SDOF system). Because the standard does\ud
not foresee the explicit control of the seizmic risk, we have to evaluate the safety of the structure with\ud
comparison of in advance chosen target collapse risk with the calculated collapse risk. In this master's\ud
thesis the safety of the structure was evaluated with a more demanding incremental dynamic analysis\ud
IDA and recently proposed 3R method, that tells us if the structure target collapse risk is exceeded
Identification of tie points and positional accuracy improvement of land cadastre index map using the membrane method in the cadastral municipality of Črešnjice
Our thesis aimed to explore the possibilities of improving the positional quality of the cadastral index\ud
map (ZKP) based on the so called tie points. The discussed tie points included boundary points of land\ud
parcels, the positions of which are provided in one of the national coordinate reference systems (D48/GK\ud
or D96/TM). We assumed that in addition to using quality land cadastre points, the positional quality of\ud
the land cadastre representation can also be improved by additionally measured tie points. For the\ud
purposes of the thesis, we inspected the study area, i.e. the cadastral municipality of Črešnjice near Novo\ud
mesto, and identified potential additional tie points, which are not considered land cadastre points but\ud
are nevertheless materialized in nature. A geodetic survey was conducted in accordance with the existing\ud
regulations on land cadastre surveying. We determined the position of the discussed points in the\ud
national coordinate system D96/TM and applied them in the process of improving the positional\ud
precision of the ZKP. We evaluated the positional quality of the so called homogeneous boundary points\ud
in the data layer of the ZKP and performed a comparison across different approaches (different scenarios\ud
according to the number and location of additional tie points included in the improvement). The\ud
homogenization was carried out using the Systra software tool. The results have also been graphically\ud
presented in the ArcGIS software environment
