Case study in housing management in the city municipality of Novo mesto
The management of multi-dwelling buildings represents a very important real estate management area providing regular building maintenance and living conditions. This thesis presents the legislative framework of multi-dwelling building management in the Republic of Slovenia. It highlights the management and maintenance of multi-dwelling buildings in the municipality Novo mesto. A sample multi-dwelling building gives an inside look at the multi-dwelling building management regarding facade refurbishment. In addition to the investment, it shows also the differences in housing reserve fund before and after the facade refurbishment
Analysis of geodetic plan from airborne laser scanning data
The aim of this thesis is to analyse the quality of a geodetic plan set up from the point cloud of airborne laser scanning data. The reference data is represented by the classical geodetic measurements, where the planar coordinates are determined by the polar method and the heights elevation with reference to the leveling network. This thesis is focused on the positioning accuracy, completeness and correctness of the content geodetic plan (design of the buildings, the type of infrastructure services ...)
The project of reinforced concrete business-commercial residential building
The project of reinforced concrete business-commercial residential building in accordance with Eurocode Standards is a thesis based on an ideal project made by an architect. The building consists of three underground floors for parking purposes, three floors for commercial activities, five floors for business activities and thirteen residential floors. The floor plan of the above ground section of the building changes with the change in the intended purpose of use. The building is predicted to be placed in the Municipality of Ljubljana. The load-bearing construction which is entirely made of reinforced concrete consists of solid slabs, frames and walls without openings. Vertical load is transmitted from slabs through columns and walls into the foundation floor. The frames and walls bear the seismic load. The subject of the analysis is the above ground section of the building with the use of the program SAP2000. For the analysis we used different numerical models. We paid special attention to the seismic load which was relevant for the design of the vertical structural elements. First we verified the behaviour of the walls, then the behaviour of the walls together with the frames. The construction was modelled with two different models. All the vertical structural elements were modelled with linear elements. In the second model the walls were modelled with shell elements. In the first model the vertical structural elements were linked with a rigid diaphragm at the level of individual floors. In the second model the slabs were modelled as shell finite elements.\ud
For the design of selected vertical elements we took into account the results of the analysis with the linear elements. The reinforcement in the slabs was determined on the basis of the analysis with shell elements. This was done considering the relevant combination of vertical loads
Measures for lowering flood risks

Economic aspects of urban land policy in support of the implementation of spatial documents at the local level
This master's degree thesis discusses urban land policies as part of the economic and social system and the spatial planning policy that enables local communities to manage space in more effective ways thus assuring them the means for an enhanced functioning of the land market. Even though Slovenia's development strategy (2005) associates the urban land policy with the improvement of spatial management and the development of the land market, it is surprising that the legislation defines this field in a narrow and insufficient manner. The review of professional sources shows that the problems in the enforcement of land policy, which coincide with the problems of the profession and the practicalities of spatial management, are not treated holistically enough. Warning about the deficit of spatial regulation is the added value of my work. The thesis exposes numerous factors that condition specific problems in the enforcement of spatial planning documents which are commonly encountered on the local level. The formal spatial decisions were not put into effect as they were planned, which shows that the actual trends are not proceeding in accordance with a sustainable spatial development. The causes for the breach between the planning and effectuation of spatial plans is not to be found in the strategies themselves, but rather in the low managing capabilities of the spatial system and the implementation deficit in the carrying out of decisions that have been accepted. The existing prevailing normative managing in the planning of land usage and the utilization of its developmental potentials, which was necessary in the period after Slovenia got its independence, necessitates a completion that would comply with the principles of sustainability and laws of the market. Taking in consideration the findings of various professions, that can contribute to an integrated treatment of the function of spatial policy in the processes of urban development and acknowledging the developmental trends in countries with a constituted land market, I argue that a new urban land policy in the form of a systematic, institutionalized and instrumental support to the execution of spatial planning documents on the local level is needed
Energy renovation of elementary school Loka extension into a nearly zero-energy building
In this diploma thesis I have carried out an energy renovation of a new extension at elementary school Loka in Črnomelj. Currently, the basic legislative document regulating the area of energy efficiency in newly constructed as also renovated buildings in Slovenia is PURES 2010 (Regulations on energy efficiency of buildings). In compliance with its requirements, calculations are made in TOST computer programme, in which I have checked the energy efficiency balance of the building in consideration. Final results have confirmed the assumption that the building does not meet the minimum requirements of PURES 2010. To improve the existing state, I have applied certain measures alone and in combination. The chosen combination of measures which lowered existing critical values to those still allowed involved installing windows with lower heat transfer coefficient, applying extra thermal insulation on external walls and installing a mechanical ventilation system. Since, after 31st December 2018, every newly built public facility will need to comply with nearly zero-energy building (nZEB) requirements, I additionally checked if the building in consideration which now meets PURES 2010 requirements also meets those of nZEB. The nZEB action plan\ud
states the annual maximum permitted energy use for heating, annual primary energy necessary for the functioning of the building and the minimum share of renewable energy sources. Although implementing the measure, the building does not meet all nZEB requirements in the action plan due to the reason that, for public buildings, PURES 2010 does not set forth the annual maximums permitted neither for primary energy use nor for cooling systems
Applicability of the realestate register data for the analysis of the existing housing stock within municipality of Kobarid
Main aim of this diploma thesis was to verify and investigate in details the usefulness of real estate register data for the analysis of the existing house stock within the Municipality of Kobarid.\ud
The first part of this thesis contains the analysis of real estate register data. Our primary intention was to present major characteristics of the existing housing stock such as residential building analysis according to its actual use, construction material types of residential buildings, types of heating and roof and façade renovation. Our qualitative data analysis and its results are based on inspection of several residential buildings within Municipality of Kobarid. \ud
Results of our qualitative data analysis lead us to the conclusion that in the field of residential buildings data there are opportunities for improvement, because the actual state of residential buildings is not entirely and completely in accordance with the real estate register data
Use of BIM for parametric analysis of selected environmental sustainability aspects of buildings
Master thesis addresses to ecological aspect of building’s sustainability, based on carbon footprint and embodied energy. Within the thesis are studied parameters of environmental aspect of sustainability for four different variants of a residential building. For different variants of the building (reinforced concrete, clay brick, structural steel and wood) are compared energy consumption and release of GHG emissions throughout the whole life cycle of the building. There is also demonstrated life cycle analysis with a BIM software.\ud
At the beginning of the master thesis there are introduced the issues of the global warming and the importance of sustainable design. Followed by the short description of LCA methodology, which is used for an assessment of products and objects on environment. Further on there is introduced the building and its variants. There are made BIM models for each building variant, which are executed by using BIM software ArchiCAD. For various simulations and calculations is used ArchiCAD and its plugin Ecodesigner STAR, which are also presented within the thesis. Process of energy analysis is described in details. Obtained data of energy consumption and released emissions is used for a life-cycle assessment. That is followed by the presentation of calculated carbon footprint (embodied carbon) and embodied energy of a particular building variant. Input data of material’s carbon footprint is obtained from ICE database and ArchiCAD’s material library. After studied important phases of the building’s life-cycle there is shown a comparison of carbon footprint for different variants. At the end there are given some final conclusions of conducted study
Procedures in acquiring building and usage permit for reconstruction of an industrial building
In my thesis I have described the course of work at preparing the project documentation which in accordance with valid regulations needs to be made for the acquirement of building permit and usage permit for the case I have been studying, which contained a change of part of places in the industrial hall which was built to meet the needs of wood processing industry for a new activity, the performance of car mechanical services. The facilities for the new activity needed to be adjusted by using reconstruction parts. The thesis has been divided into several chapters in which I have described the process of making the project documentation, the process of acquiring the building and later usage permit and also my personal\ud
observations on the matter. In each chapter I have first presented the basic legal provisions, which are required for each phase of work, and then I have tried to carefully describe the documentation which has been prepared for the studied case so that the legal provisions were met. Furthermore, I have also pointed out the problems I have run into while working on the above mentioned case, especially problems I have noticed in acquiring the necessary permits from the legal state administrative body for the usage of building
Design of a small irrigation system in an apple orchard in Slovenska Bistrica area
In the era of increasingly intensive climatic changes irrigation is becoming very important way of increasing crop yields and improving its quality. Like elsewhere in the developed world, drip irrigation is predominant in Slovenia. Such an irrigation is the most efficient and considering environmental protection the most suitable one. Plants get the precise dosage of water needed to the root area through the pipes using emitters.\ud
In this thesis the design of a small irrigation system in apple orchard in Slovenska Bistrica area is described. Legal basis and permits required for construction are presented. Based on the data on ground, plants, climate and precipitation maximum water demands of plants are calculated. In relation to the demanded irrigation quantity a small reservoir that is filled by precipitation and abstraction of water from the Devina stream is designed. Based on water demands emitters, pipes, armature, filters and pump are selected.\ud
Irrigation parameters are calculated and, with the CROPWAT 8.0 program, irrigation schedules are prepared
