The analysis of documentation for acquiring the building and usage permit for an industrially commercial building
In my thesis I have presented the process of acquiring the necessary building and usage permit for the building as well as the making of the required documentation which is necessary in the process of acquiring for the building and usage permit. My research is based on a concrete example: removing of the manufacturing building and building of a new construction of a manufacturing commercial building by the Kovit projekti d. o. o., Trbovlje (Kovit projects Ltd., Trbovlje) investors.\ud
In the introductory part of my thesis I have pointed out the problems which are often encountered by the investors when insuring the funds for the realization of the planned building. I have also presented the role of the state in helping realizing the investments which have a great influence on the higher gross domestic product growth as well as reduce unemployment and by that ensure a higher quality of life.\ud
In the main part of my thesis I have summed up the provisions which refer to the building of an industrial manufacturing and business building from the ZGO-1 law and regulations. I have described the process of acquiring the building permit and have presented the component parts of the necessary project documentation and have listed in which way the documentation is coordinated with the municipal spatial executive instrument which is valid for the treated area of arranging, which is furthermore the base for the investment planning on the land of the anticipated building.\ud
Moreover, I have described the process of acquiring the usage permit and all the necessary documentation and its content. I have also pointed out the changes which have occurred during the process of building, the process of technical examination and the purpose of the acquired building permit.\ud
In my final findings I have tried to present a few problems which the investor as well as the design engineer run into while acquiring all the necessary permits. I have listed the bad as well as the good experiences while working on my research project and have furthermore pointed out a few improvements which I believe would be good to acknowledge in order to improve the existing system of acquiring the appropriate permits
Conversion of unsignalized intersections into roundabouts
Construction of a new junction as a roundabout is very popular in Slovenia over the last 20 years. Latest trends integrate conversion of unsignalized intersections into roundabouts. Since the space for conversion of the intersection is usually limited, especially in urban areas, the solutions have to be found with either minimal or no construction activity.\ud
Modification possibilities were investigated with the analysis of a sample of eight intersections. In my thesis, I verified that the basic geometric elements, recommended by legislation for single lane roundabouts with diameter at least 27 m, could also be applied to smaller and mini roundabouts.\ud
Analysis of the basic geometric elements has confirmed my hypothesis. In the conclusion some new directions in the design conversion are proposed
Sludge treatment in waste water treatment plant Sevnica and possibility of its use
In this thesis i will present possible treatment processes of sludge from wastewater treatment plant. Treatment processes are regulated by the legislation body, therefore i overview latest regulations that directly and indirectly involves sludge treatment. Then i will discribe possible treatment processes of sludge.\ud
On an example of wastewater treatment plant Sevnica i will make overview of current technologies and use of sludge. Then i will present an alternative technologies of sludge treatment and possibility of use in agriculture and processing into solid fuel
Analysis of sediment transport in the Tolminka river
For my diploma paper I have done research as to what extend the earthquake of 1998 really affected the amounts of transported sediments of the Tolminka River, as compared to estimated figures. Since later on, i.e. after the earthquake an additional rock fall occured in the upper part of the valley and, in light of the fact that its material has significantly contributed to the amount of the transported sediments, I have taken pains in order to precisely establish the extent of its contribution. Based upon two sediment samples, along with two samples of rock fall material I have, not only on the basis of granulometric and petrographic composition but also having taken into account the hydrologic processing, established the possibility to tell the sediments apart in accordance with their origin. The geological chart reveals the difference between the composition of the rock fall and other erosive sources which largely contribute to the amount of rainfall. The above said fact has later on been applied in order to establish the differences as regards the share of the sediments of various origins, based upon the three samples of deposited river sediments taken from the sediment traps at the town of Tolmin which had been excavated at three different points of time, i.e. a year before the rock fall, the year after the rock fall and eleven years after the rock fall. The sediments have been excavated in order to be used at a separation plant, the product of which is a certified aggregate for various concretes and tampons. I have, due to various types of lithology and with regard to the origin of sediments, established the annual share of rock fall in the total bed-load, in that I have, having applied the findings of the study on granulometric properties of ground samples, considered the oscillation of the index of the shape of grain during the time period from the occurence of the rock fall and up to 2015. Part of the diploma paper also deals with the separation plant itself and I have found that the origin of the sediments and their consecutive properties have also played an important role as regards the quality of aggregate as well as the profitability of the separation plant, both of which have also been affected by the sleet catastrophe of 2014
Application of somplified methods for dam-break waves computation
The thesis uses the simplified methods for calculating the dam-break wave parameters for selected dams, for which the dam-break wave calculations with the full Saint-Venant equations also exist. First, the methods and the results of the dam-break wave calculations with the full Saint-Venant equations for selected dams are briefly presented. They will serve as a basis for further comparison. Then, the\ud
simplified method for calculating the dam-break waves is presented. This method contains dimensionless coefficients and two nomograms for determining three values. These values are the maximum flow at the dam, the time, and the distance, when the flow of the dam-break wave is reduced to half the value by reference to the value of the maximum flow at the dam at the time of the dam break. The methods and the problem of determining the input data needed for the calculation are described, followed by the calculation itself. The calculations of the dam-break wave parameters can be found in the main part of the thesis. The results derived from the simplified methods were compared to the results derived from the full Saint-Venant equations. The analysis of the deviations between the methods served as a basis for evaluating the accuracy of the simplified methods and their usefulness in the dam-break wave calculation in the hydraulic engineering practice
Drainage of unpaved sports fields
This graduation thesis explains the planning, design, construction and maintenance of the surface and internal drainage systems. They are extremely important for effective drainage of the grassed sport fields.\ud
In the initial section we describe the key parameters, phenomena and theoretical basis, which determine water movement in soil and are crucial for understanding the principles of drainage. What follows next, are the surface and internal drainage descriptions and characteristics, that are used for drainage of unpaved grassed sports fields, especially soccer fields
Flood hazard in settlements due to hinterland-waters
Natural disasters are a result of natural phenomena. One of the most common natural disaster in Slovenia are floods which cause a lot of damage every year. Among different types of floods we know there are floods caused by background waters. Background waters are waters that are accumulated outside of the observed area and are flowing from the background areas to the observed area in a dispersed flow. Complete protection against floods is practically and economically unachievable but with correct anti-flood measures the damage and risk to the inhabitants can be reduced. The thesis presents settlement Podgrad with the watercourse Besnica that flows through it. Spatial data was acquired with the use of LIDAR technology. Using GIS technology to process the acquired spatial data a digital model of the terrain was created. From the acquired data we have created a digital model of the terrain. We used different software packages to process the data about the watercourses on the area of Podgrad and the terrain model to create the hydraulic model of the area. We used an application ESRI ArcGIS with several extensions with which we prepared the geometry of the riverbed and obtained the data about the flooding area. The application ESRI ArcGIS was used together with application HEC-RAS
The Processing of the scanned object SHP Melje with software package PointSense
The theme of the thesis is the use of terrestrial laser scanning and processing scanned data to determine the movement of the overflow wall. The thesis first describe the theoretical part of the collecting and processing data from laser scanning. Practical part of the thesis consisted of scanning the overflow wall Melje small hydroelectric power plant (SHP Melje) with terrestrial laser scanner Leica Nova MS 50 MultiStation. The scanned data was processed with the software package Pointsense, which is built into AutoCad. The result of the processing is wireframe or 3D model of the overflow wall. We continue to count horizontal and vertical accuracy of detailed points of the planes that serve as an aid for making wireframe
Analysis of real estate purchase by foreign nationals on Karst
The Slovenian Karst, with its rich natural and cultural heritage, is a unique part of Slovenia that is attracting increasing numbers of real estate buyers. These would traditionally come from other parts of the country, but after Slovenia joined the European Union there has been an increase of purchases by foreign nationals. This thesis attempts to analyze real estate purchases in the Sežana administrative unit between years 2004 and 2015 based on data from the Financial Administration and the Surveying and Mapping Authority of the Republic of Slovenia. The thesis finds that the financial and economic crisis had a dampening effect on the initial surge of purchases but interest has built up again in recent years, especially after 2015. The driving force behind the increase are Italian nationals who benefit from the location along the Italian border. As part of this thesis, a survey was conducted among locals who shared their views on the growing number of foreign property owners and how these individuals adapt and integrate. Also, structured interviews were carried out among foreign property owners, investigating the factors that influenced their buying decisions and their views on integrating into the Slovenian environment and society. The thesis found that foreign nationals tend to buy older Karst houses to use as primary residence and renovate them in traditional Karst style. The price plays the biggest role in buying decisions, followed by favorable climate, intact nature and a quiet way of life. Italian buyers also value the proximity to their jobs and homes in Italy. Locals generally accept foreign property owners, yet they do not want their numbers to grow uncontrollably and prevail over the local population, which is why they want laws to regulate foreign buyers. However, the state and municipal authorities are to blame for devastation of karst landscape with extensive and improper building in order to sell to foreign nationals, because they are not able to agree how to protect Karst and its architecture
Importance of construction site documentation in successful realization of construction projects
The thesis is analysing the construction site documentation and its role in efficient and effective implementation of construction projects. In the thesis a review of legal requirements for construction site documentation and recommendations of FIDIC federation is performed with , description of the role of individual document relative to specific construction process and its successful implementation.\ud
The preformed SWOT analysis is identifying internal and external factors that affect the documentation management, with identified strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and risks related to construction site documentation. The developed SWOT analysis was assessed by the external evaluators from construction sector: site managers, designers, investors, surveyors and inspectors. They were responding to the questionnaire assessing statements describing strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and risks of the SWOT analysis. \ud
Beside that the situation regarding the construction site documentation management in other countries is assessed. The overview shows the obstacles the site documentation management are construction site managers in other countries faced with and what are the reasons for it. Comparison of national reality and the international overview identifies that the challenges identified are almost completely the same.\ud
On the academic level are being developed several technologies aiming to address some of these challenges. These technologies consist mainly of various computer tools (BIM, GIS, DW, OLAP, etc.) that try to collect all the documents, create a database and enable search and share of information between the various participants in the project. Finally, I have analysed on limited scale the technologies used on construction sites in Slovenia for documentation management and performed a final assessment of the state of construction site documentation in Slovenia
