    No full text

    No full text
Ginsenosides are triterpenoid saponins found in Panax ginseng. They are well known for their health benefits, including antioxidant, anticancer, and antidiabetic effects, along with their support for cardiovascular and neurological function. Our previous study showed that cultivating Panax ginseng in tissue culture successfully led to its rapid growth. Several active compounds, including Rg1 and Re ginsenosides, were identified in the powdered extract of cultivated Panax ginseng. As part of a continuous study, an analytical method was developed to ensure the consistency of yield composition with the required quality standards. The analytical method optimization involved selecting the mobile phase composition and adjusting the flow rate in both isocratic and gradient systems to achieve optimal separation. The gradient elution system, with a constant flow rate of 1.0 mL/min, was more effective than the isocratic system for separating ginsenosides. The optimized method was then validated, showing acceptable validation parameters. The validated method was applied to the ginsenosides assay in the powdered extract of the Panax ginseng sample. Eight out of fourteen ginsenosides were identified, including Rg1 and Re, which were quantified at 0.16% and 0.45%, respectively. A baseline resolution of about 5.16 between Rg1 and Re ginsenosides was achieved. The analytical method developed using HPLC in this study effectively separated ginsenoside compounds simultaneously. These findings proposed an analytical method to evaluate the quality standards of ginsenosides in Panax ginseng

Leveraging Deep Learning for Cultural Preservation: A Mobile Application for Padang Cuisine

    No full text
Padang cuisine, originating from West Sumatra, Indonesia, is recognized as one of the most widespread traditional food types due to its prevalence in restaurants across the country. Despite the increasing interest in classifying Indonesian food using artificial intelligence, there have been limited studies that have explicitly focused on classifying Padang dishes using deep learning approaches. This study aimed to develop an intelligent mobile application capable of identifying various Padang dishes from images using transfer learning-based convolutional neural networks (CNNs). Four pre-trained CNN architectures—EfficientNetV2M, MobileNetV2, VGG19, and ResNet152V2—were fine-tuned and evaluated on a dataset of Padang food images. This dataset comprised a total of 1,108 images, categorized into nine distinct Padang dishes, collected from both publicly available repositories and original photographs taken for this study. Among these models, ResNet152V2 achieved the best performance after optimization, with a validation loss of 0.4142 and a test accuracy of 91.33%. The optimized model was converted to TensorFlow Lite and deployed as a mobile application, enabling real-time recognition of Padang dishes. This study presented a deep-learning-based mobile solution for recognising nine traditional Padang dishes with high accuracy, demonstrating the potential of AI-driven applications to support culinary heritage preservation and promote cultural tourism in Indonesia

    No full text
Smoking can affect vitamin D levels in the blood. Decrease in vitamin D levels is also influenced by a person’s lifestyle habits, such as smoking habits, sun exposure, food intake, and physical activity. This study aimed to determine the relationship between vitamin D and lifestyle factors in active smokers. This research used a cross-sectional design. The subjects were adult male active smokers in Rungkut Subdistrict, Surabaya City, from October 2023 to February 2024. The sampling method was a purposive sampling technique. Data collection by measurement of smoking severity (Brinkman Index (BI)), vitamin D levels in blood (serum 25(OH)D), food intake (by SQ-FFQ (semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire) and 24-hour food recall), and physical activity (by IPAQ (International Physical Activity Questionnaire)). The relationship is measured using the Spearman method (ordinal scale). There were 47 respondents. The majority of research respondents were moderate smokers, namely 38 people (80.85%). The respondents had an average 25(OH)D level of 23.19±8.86 ng/mL. The risk of vitamin D deficiency due to lack of sun exposure was 26 people (55.32%). The average consumption of foods containing vitamin D by SQ-FFQ was 5.75±5.68 mcg/day, and 24-hour food recall was 5.77±5.72 mcg/day. Most respondents had high physical activity (70.21%), and the total mean was 8210.23±4955.89. The Spearman correla- tion coefficient was 0.742 (smoking severity), 0.117 (sun exposure), 0.726 (food intake by FFQ), 0.742 (food intake by 24-hour recall), and 0.824 (physical activity). Vitamin D levels had a significant association with the severity of smoking, food intake, and physical activity. However, they were not related to sun exposure

Exploring the Subjective Well-Being of Mothers Raising Children with ADHD: A Mediation Model of Resilience, Parenting Self- Efficacy, and Social Support

    No full text
Mothers of children with ADHD face complex parenting challenges that directly impact their subjective well-being (SWB). This study aims to examine the influence of parenting self-efficacy (PSE) and social support on SWB, with resilience serving as a mediating variable. A quantitative approach with a causal-comparative design was applied, and data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). A total of 419 mothers of children with ADHD enrolled in inclusive elementary schools in Surabaya were selected through purposive sampling. The results revealed that PSE did not have a direct effect on SWB but showed a significant indirect effect through resilience. Similarly, social support did not directly influence SWB, but indirectly contributed to it via increased resilience. These findings suggest that resilience plays a central role as a psychological mechanism linking internal (PSE) and external (social support) resources to maternal well-being. This study offers practical contributions for developing family-based psychological interventions that prioritize resilience enhancement, as well as theoretical contributions by modeling multivariate relationships among psychological constructs in the context of neurodivergent familie

DIR-YOLO: Segmentation of Alveolar Bone and Mandibular Canal in CBCT Images for Dental Implant Recommendation

    No full text
In dental implant planning, segmentation of the alveolar bone (AB) and mandibular canal (MC) is essential to identify a safe area for dental implant placement in the edentulous molar region. This anatomical information serves as the basis for radiologists to determine the most appropriate dental implant dimension, including its diameter and height. Cone-Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) is a 3D imaging modality that provides high-resolution cross-sectional images of the jaw. It enables detailed visualization of AB and MC. The dental radiologists manually identify the AB and MC to determine the suitable dental implant dimension. This process is time-consuming and its accuracy depends on the dental radiologist’s skill and experience. This study proposes an automated method for segmenting AB and MC from CBCT images to support dental implant dimension recommendation for molar teeth. This study introduces DIR-YOLO (Dental Implant Recommendation-YOLO), an efficient AB and MC segmentation model based on a modified YOLOv8 architecture. The proposed method enhances YOLOv8 by replacing the original C2f module with C3Ghost, replacing the standard convolution with Ghost Convolution to reduce computational complexity, and simplifying the segmentation head to use only two-scale feature maps. It focuses on low and high resolutions for optimized AB and MC segmentation performance. DIR-YOLO achieved a mean Dice Similarity Coefficient (mDSC) of 92.12% and mean Hausdorff Distance (mHD) of 0.96 mm, indicating high AB and MC segmentation performance. Furthermore, Weighted Cohen’s Kappa and the Kruskal-Wallis test demonstrate a high level of statistical agreement between the proposed method and the dental radiologists and indicating no significant differences in the recommended dental implant dimensions. These results indicate that DIR-YOLO can assist dental radiologists by automating AB and MC segmentation for supporting accurate dental implant dimension recommendation for molar teeth

Nutritional and Sensory Profile of Conventional, Gluten-Free, and Plant-Based Cookies

    No full text
Amid the growing consumer demand for healthier and more sustainable food options, gluten-free and plant-based cookies have emerged as key alternatives to conventional products. This review provides a comparative analysis of the composition, nutrition, and sensory acceptance of these three cookie types to identify challenges and opportunities for innovation. Key findings indicate that while alternative cookies address specific dietary needs, major challenges lie in replicating texture and achieving nutritional balance. Critically, this review highlights the unique contribution of utilizing local composite flours such as gadung tuber, brown rice, and moringa leaves as a proven solution to significantly enhance both nutritional value and textural quality. The practical implication is that future cookie formulation innovation relies heavily on leveraging local, functional ingredients to create products that are not only nutritionally superior but also widely accepted by consumers

Work-School Conflict among Working Students: The Role of Core Self-Evaluations as an Antecedent

    No full text
This study examines and explains the relationship between core self-evaluations and work-school conflict in working students. This research uses a quantitative method with correlation tests. The participants of this research were 366 people who were obtained using an accidental sampling technique. The characteristics of participants are active students from undergraduate to doctoral level or equivalent throughout East Java, aged over 18 years, and working actively in an institution. The instruments used were Core Self-Evaluations Scale by Judge et al (2003) and Work-School Conflict Scale by Carlson et al (2000). The Spearman correlation tests show a significant negative relationship between the two variables (ρ= -0.444, p < 0.001). More specific results show a significant relationship between core self-evaluations and two dimensions of work-school conflict. i.e. WIS Conflict (ρ = -0.390, p < 0.001) and SIW Conflict (ρ = -0.418, p < 0.001). Strain-based conflicts were also shown to have more significant correlations than time-based conflicts. In addition, gender and job tenure are also associated with work-school conflict. The implications of this research prove that working students who have better core self-evaluations tend to overcome problems in school and work more easily because they have a sense of better confidence and self-control to overcome situations that put pressure on two domains. Thus, universities and employers should implement interventions that promote students’ core self-evaluations, such as training or assistance programs
