Gitelman Syndrome Diagnosed in a Woman in the Second Trimester of Pregnancy
Gitelman syndrome is a rare renal tubule disease characterized by hypokalaemia, metabolic alkalosis, hypomagnesaemia, hypocalciuria and normal blood pressure. It shows autosomal recessive inheritance and is usually not diagnosed until late childhood or adulthood. We report the case of 34-year-old woman who at 21 weeks of pregnancy was admitted to the gynaecology department for abdominal pain, muscle cramps and weakness. Routine blood tests showed hypokalaemia (2.32 mEq/l), hypomagnesaemia (1.18 mEq/l), compensated metabolic alkalosis (pH 7.439, bicarbonate 26.1 mmol/l), increased urinary magnesium excretion (140.25 mg/day, normal range 73–122 mg/day) and reduced urinary calcium excretion (49.25 mg/day, normal range 100–250 mg/day). In light of these findings, the patient was diagnosed with Gitelman syndrome and optimum potassium and magnesium levels were maintained with oral supplements

Social street case study: Via Giorgio Regnoli a Forlì
Biochemical traits of asparagus cultivars and quality changes in two differently coloured genotypes during cold storage
The aim was to evaluate morpho-biochemical traits in four asparagus cultivars (‘Early California’, ‘Grande’, ‘Purple Passion’, and ‘Vegalim’), and qualitative changes in ‘Grande’ and ‘Purple Passion’ during storage in air or passive modified atmosphere packaging (MAP, 15% O2 – 5% CO2), at 4 °C for 28 days. ‘Early California’ showed the highest total phenolic (TPh) and quercetin-3-rutinoside (rutin) content, and the highest total antioxidant activity (TAA). 'Purple Passion' was the richest in glucose and total sugars, while 'Early California' the least rich in sucrose. The nitrate content was lower than 100 mg kg−1 FM and potassium on average 280 mg 100 g−1 FM. The MAP reduced weight loss, ensuring product turgidity and mitigating the cold storage stress. In the first 7 days in storage, ‘Purple Passion’ showed higher values of TPh, rutin and TAA. Afterwards, TPh content increased in both cultivars in MAP. During storage, sugars gradually decreased, except sucrose in ‘Purple Passion’, increased by almost 40% after 14 days. ‘Grande’ and ‘Purple Passion’ spears showed optimal overall quality up to 14 days-storage, but they could not be stored for more than 21 days. Moreover, MAP allowed to preserve or enhance antioxidant properties of asparagus during the whole storage
Osservatorio Neologico della Lingua Italiana. Lessico e parole nuove dell’italiano
The “oro di metà” Gilding in the Fifteenth-Century: A Multi-Analytical Investigation
Few and fragmentary is the information regarding the “oro di metà” (halfway gold) gilding
due to the low probability of finding it in paintings as well as its short durability because of tarnishing.
However, the very rare, excellent state of conservation of the gilding found in the fifteenth-century
wood panel painting of the Master of St. Ivo studied in this work along with a multi-analytical
approach allowed shedding light on the structure, the composition and the conservation state of this
type of gilding. An Ultra-High Resolution Scanning Electron Microscope (UHR-SEM) along with
Energy Dispersive X-Ray (EDX) analysis and polarised light Optical Microscopy (OM) were employed
in order to image and analyse a cross-section of a sample taken from the wood panel painting.
Results highlighted a divided structure of the gilding which is constituted by two separated layers of
gold and silver with dierent thickness. This is the first time that scientific evidence on this issue
is provided. Moreover, considerations on the tarnishing process of the gilding were made. Finally,
complementary vibrational spectroscopic techniques such as micro-Raman and micro-ATR-FTIR
were employed in order to identify the molecular composition of the “bole” (gilding preparation layer)
and the ground layer
La banca dati bibliografica degli anni Novanta. Dati quantitativi e analisi statistiche
Recent research work, carried out as part of the international project on ‘The History of Archaeological Computing’, jointly promoted by the Italian National Research Council and the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei, has created the premises by which to publish online the database of the Bibliography of Archaeological Computing. The database was regularly implemented during the first ten years of publication of the international scholarly journal ‘Archeologia e Calcolatori’ (1990-1999), and covers a period ranging from 1989 to 2000. The dataset was revised and made available online in the ‘Virtual Museum of Archaeological Computing’, featuring more than 2,700 titles. Data structuring and updating led us to re-appreciate the analysis of the results, published for the first time in the tenth issue of the journal, by also linking the period under investigation with the achievements of the previous decades and anticipating the challenges of the years to come. This article sets out both the research work now being carried out to classify bibliographical information and the results obtained from the statistical analysis of the dataset
The excavation of the medieval city of Leopoli-Cencelle (Tarquinia, VT) has reached its 24th campaign. The graphic documentation produced over this period faithfully reflects how Information Technologies and instruments for data acquisition have developed in the course of about 20 years. In the case of Leopoli-Cencelle, the main challenge was to produce a modern system of managing and using data and to subsume all the paper elements into one functional and searchable digital format
The paper presents a GIS platform for the management of archaeological warehouses located in the territory of the IV Municipality of Rome. The need to create a GIS was owed to the distribution of archaeological material in at least 15 different stores. The contents and provenance of the boxes and their archaeological material have been recorded. A GIS platform has been developed, based on QGIS Desktop (version 3.0) and a geodatabase built on PostgreSQL/ PostGIS. As a cartographic base, both the existing cartography in the WMS format and the free downloadable cartography in .shp format were used. Further, a single table was created, merging the existing tables of different formats from the various warehouses examined
