    No full text

The well-being of working couples: A sociological study grounded Islamic values

    No full text
This study examines the well-being of working couples in the Klang Valley by focusing on the clarity, involvement, and balance of dual roles, as well as their relationship with household well-being. Employing a mixed-method approach in two phases, the first phase involved an online questionnaire (N = 119), while the second comprised interviews and focus group discussions. Findings indicate that dual-role involvement and work-family balance are significantly correlated with well-being, whereas role clarity alone is insufficient. Five core components were identified—belief, moral values, communication, relational strength, and management— organized into two skill dimensions: intrapersonal and managerial. An initial review of Islamic values underscores the importance of applying knowledge through practice and achieving internal-external balance as normative guidance aligned with the natural order (sunnat al-kawn). Islamic teachings emphasise that knowledge must be accompanied by action, and that inner transformation is the foundation of outward well-being. The strength of the heart and intrapersonal values such as faith, sincerity, and responsibility serve as key determinants of marital harmony. The study also highlights that household well-being is rooted in the integrity of internal values, which subsequently shape communication, relationships, and shared life management. This study offers both empirical and spiritual foundations for the development of holistic family well-being policies, although it is limited by sample imbalances in terms of gender, socioeconomic status, and education level

Process feasibility study of energy integrated distillation columns sequence (EIDCS) for NGL separation process

    No full text
Distillation is a well-known process in the chemical and petrochemical industries for performing intended separation tasks. However, a common problem with this process is the high energy consumption of multicomponent distillation systems. Thus, the objective of this paper is to produce a distillation column sequence with the lowest energy requirement. The solution is to use the sequencing method of Driving Force with the help from Pinch Analysis method for maximum heat recovery, widely known as the Energy Integrated Distillation Columns Sequence (EIDCS). The distillation process involves eight natural gas liquids (NGL) components: methane, ethane, propane, i-butane, n-butane, n- pentane, n-hexane, and n-heptane. In the first step, the best sequence is determined by plotting the driving force graph of all components. Two types of simulations are carried out for both direct sequence and driving force sequence, including shortcut and rigorous simulations using Aspen HYSYS V10 software. Then, further potential energy savings can be achieved using Thermal Pinch Analysis. Data from the simulations are extracted for pinch analysis at a fixed ΔTmin value of 10°C using the Problem Table Algorithm (PTA) approach based on total load, heating load, and cooling load. The grid diagram of the heat exchanger network for the best sequence is then constructed. The results indicate that the driving force method provides a better sequence with lower energy requirements for distillation compared to the direct sequence. Moreover, the use of pinch technology proves to be effective as it enhances energy savings for the distillation process. The driving force sequence with pinch analysis recorded energy savings of 35.48% in heating load, 41.40% in cooling load, and 38.21% in total load. In conclusion, the driving force method can be considered one of the successful approaches for determining the best sequence, and pinch analysis for maximum heat recovery

    No full text
Psychotherapy is not available for most people globally with mental disorders. Training general healthcare staff in transdiagnostic psychological intervention skills is a more feasible approach in settings where the access to therapy is low. Tools are needed to measure the use of these skills in general healthcare settings to enable further research into effectiveness. Methods: We operationalized skills taught in a psychological intervention course for general healthcare staff and created a 26-item observational checklist. This was validated using generalizability theory by asking five experts to rate 26 videos. Two research assistants then used the checklist to observe doctors’ consultations before and after a psychological intervention course. We used Rasch analysis to refine the checklist so that it conformed to the Rasch unidimensional measurement model. We analyses the pre-post difference in skill use, and length of appointment using linear mixed modelling. Results: The research assistants observed 87 interviews of 12 doctors before the course and 75 interviews of 11 doctors after the course. The final 18-item checklist had a generalizability coefficient of 86.8% and conformed to the Rasch model. There were 4.28 extra skills on the checklist used per consultation after compared to before the course (95% CI [2.40, 6.16]). The length of appointment did not change. Conclusion: This approach has allowed the development of a flexible checklist, which is valid, reliable and change sensitive, and can be modified and added to by other researchers according to needs. This provides a foundation for further research into effectiveness

Flood frequency analysis is crucial for understanding flood risks in specific regions. This study applied the Gumbel Distribution Method to analyze flood frequency using river discharge data from the Kadamaian and Wariu Rivers in Kota Belud, Sabah, Malaysia. The analysis involved data collection, parameter estimation, goodness-of-fit testing, and determination of annual recurrence intervals (ARIs). The study found that the ARIs for the Kadamaian and Wariu Rivers are 50 years and 30 years, respectively, highlighting the need for targeted flood mitigation strategies in these areas. These findings emphasize the higher flood risk in the Kadamaian River basin, necessitating more robust flood control measures compared to the Wariu River basin. The Gumbel distribution provided accurate flood frequency estimations validated by the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test and correlation coefficient (R2). The calculated ARIs offer valuable insights for flood hazard assessment and contingency planning. These findings underscore the importance of accurate flood frequency analysis in enhancing flood mitigation strategies and disaster preparedness. It is recommended that local authorities incorporate these results into flood management and urban planning initiatives

Digital transformation in higher education has changed the methods of managing and delivering academic information, including the documentation and presentation of scientific training. This study analyzes students' needs regarding the use of eBooks as a documentation tool for scientific presentation in the context of higher education in the digital era. This study uses a needs analysis method and technology acceptance models like the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) to look at what makes eBooks acceptable and useful. The results of the literature synthesis and conceptual analysis found that students' needs for eBooks encompass four main dimensions: technical, pedagogical, socio-cultural, and economic. From a technical aspect, accessibility, usability, and the interoperability of eBooks with the university's academic system become critical factors. The pedagogical dimension emphasizes the potential of eBooks in enhancing interactive and collaborative learning experiences. From a sociocultural perspective, academic norms, peer influence, and digital literacy play important roles in the acceptance of this technology. Meanwhile, economic aspects and digital infrastructure determine the accessibility and sustainability of eBook usage in higher education institutions. This study proposes a conceptual model of students' needs for eBooks that connects these four dimensions as a basis for improving academic policies and developing more user-friendly eBooks. The implications of this study also include recommendations for stakeholders in higher education to adapt eBook technology more strategically to enhance the documentation of academic training and support a viable digital learning ecosystem

Little steps, big counts: The literature review of parental play on early Math learning

    No full text
This article examines the role of play-based learning in the development of early mathematics skills, drawing on data from current international research covering 2016 to 2024. Drawing on research from Asia, Europe, Africa, and Australia, the review finds major influences on early math learning, including the significance of interactive and nature-based play, instructor knowledge, parental beliefs, and home-school collaboration. A thematic analysis demonstrates that play-based tactics regularly improve children's mathematical engagement, motivation, and accomplishment. Educators show a high degree of understanding and support for such approaches, whereas parents generally have good beliefs but encounter practical limitations in fully participating. Despite the established benefits, structural challenges such as inadequate basic skills, misconceptions about mathematics, and fragmented implementation continue to impede development. The research finds that fostering solid early numeracy foundations requires a comprehensive, collaborative strategy that includes well-trained educators, informed parental involvement, and contextually appropriate play approaches. Recommendations are made to inform future educational practices and policy development

    No full text

An efficient approach to approximate analytical solutions of second-order nonlinear telegraph equations

    No full text
We propose the Multistep Modified Reduced Differential Transform Method (MMRDTM) as a novel approach to solving Nonlinear Telegraph Equations (NLTEs). To streamline the process, we replace the nonlinear terms within NLTEs with corresponding Adomian polynomials before implementing the multistep technique. This substitution simplifies the solution process and enables more precise approximations over longer time domains. To validate the MMRDTM's efficacy and accuracy, we solve two different NLTE problems, showcasing the method's capability for analytical approximation. The resulting outcomes are then presented both in tabular and graphical formats. The findings confirm that MMRDTM delivers highly accurate, and in some cases, exact solutions for the studied equations
