    No full text
There has been an increasing interest in research on labor income share trends over the past few decades. Nevertheless, most of the studies only focused on? Advanced and developed countries, leaving a gap in understanding how labor income share behaves in emerging economies. Hence, this paper seeks to contribute to the literature by examining? The determinants of labor income share in a sample of both advanced and emerging economies, focusing on the impacts of taxation, trade, and globalization. This study utilized a System Generalized method of moments (GMM) estimation approach for 57 advanced and emerging economies from 2008 to?2022. The findings indicate that labor income share exhibits strong persistence, reflecting the influence of past income distribution patterns and institutional factors. Moreover,? Trade openness reduces labor income share in advanced economies, whereas the effect in emerging economies is insignificant. In contrast,? Globalization was found to have a significant positive relationship with labor share of income in the full sample, while no significant relationship was found between taxation and labor income share across both economies. Consequently, these findings provide actionable insights for crafting balanced economic policies across different development contexts. Policymakers shall leverage these evidence-based conclusions to design taxation systems and trade frameworks that protect labor income shares while maintaining economic competitiveness, with particular attention to each nation's structural characteristics and development stage

Big five personality traits as a catalyst for instructional competency: A scoping review in educational leadership

    No full text
Leadership competencies are becoming increasingly critical in education, particularly as institutions respond to shifting pedagogical paradigms and complex learning environments. While various leadership styles have been widely examined, the role of individual personality traits, specifically the Big Five Personality Traits (B5PT), in shaping instructional competency remains underexplored. This scoping review systematically maps empirical studies from 2020 to 2025 that investigate the influence of B5PT on instructional competency in educational contexts. Guided by Arksey and O’Malley’s six-stage framework, relevant literature was sourced from Scopus, Web of Science (WoS), and ERIC databases. Traits such as conscientiousness and emotional stability were consistently associated with effective instructional competency. However, findings on openness were mixed, with some studies linking it to pedagogical innovation and risk-taking, while others reported non-significant or even negative associations with instructional outcomes. Thematic analysis revealed four overarching domains of influence: work empowerment, attitude, behaviour, and management support. These findings offer both theoretical insights and practical implications for leadership development, underscoring the potential of personality-informed strategies to enhance instructional effectiveness

Reproduction by ergatoid queens in the Oriental Myrmicinae ant Acanthomyrmex concavus, from Sabah, Borneo, with notes on their ecology and behavior

    No full text
Most Acanthomyrmex ants have a granivorous diet, supplemented with other invertebrates and sugars. They are characterized by dimorphic workers, with major workers having substantially larger head width than minor workers. In this study, we investigated the colony composition and behavioral characteristics of both the queen and worker castes in Acanthomyrmex concavus Moffett, 1986, collected in Sabah, Borneo Island, Malaysia. All colonies had one or two ergatoid queens that exhibited an intermediate morphology between major and minor workers. Colony size was small, ranging from nine to thirty-seven minor and one to three major workers. Consistent with other species of Acanthomyrmex, A. concavus fed on tiny seeds (Ficus and Oxalis), and major workers played a crucial role in seed cracking. We discuss the possible selective pressures linking granivory to ergatoid queen evolution in this genus, where more than half of the species have ergatoid queen

Resilience in times of disruptions: Perspectives from Thai pre-service English teachers

    No full text
Amidst disruptions in the education, resilience has emerged as a vital quality for educators. This study aimed to explore the nature of resilience as a dynamic construct from the perspectives of Thai pre-service English teachers (n=115), who were recruited through convenience sampling. Using thematic analysis of qualitative data, four key themes were identified: maintaining a positive outlook and sense of control, developing flexibility, being in a supportive environment and inspiring growth in others. These findings highlight the multifaceted nature of resilience and how personal attributes, professional support, and institutional conditions shape it. This renders resilience as a dynamic and context-dependent construct rather than one that is fixed. Teacher education programs, especially in the ASEAN context, should recognize resilience as an important construct to be familiarized among pre-service teachers. This would ensure that these future teachers would be prepared to address challenges or opportunities that arise in their work environment

    No full text
Future career prospects are crucial for guiding the next generation of physicists and scientific professionals. Many students struggle to identify the best future path based on their talents and abilities. The objective of this paper was to compare the effectiveness of a professional-oriented education approach to traditional teaching methods among high secondary school students in aligning students to their suitable career education track in Kazakhstan. The study underwent a two-group pretest- posttest quasi-experimental research design utilising a mechanics physics course. The samples involved two groups of students over 26 months - a control group (n=58) and an experimental group (n=57). A quantitative data was collected through a test administered before and after the learning class. The findings indicated that both teaching methods improved the Kazakhstan student's performance. However, the experimental group exhibited a significantly higher level of improvement than the control group where students were aligned to the best track, i.e., the general education track as compared to secondary vocational education or the initial vocational education track both categories as middle and lower track. In conclusion, this research demonstrates that a professional-oriented education can align students' future professions with their interests, capabilities, and strengths, enabling them to pursue their desired careers brightly
