The purpose of this survey is to assess the effectiveness of a research instrument in gauging the acceptance of interreligious social relations among Islamic Studies undergraduates in Sabah. This quantitative study employed a digital questionnaire, and data were collected from 70 Islamic Studies students at a public institution of higher learning in Sabah. Respondents’ demographic data and levels of acceptance were analysed using descriptive and frequency tests via IBM SPSS Statistics 29.0. Overall, the findings indicate that the majority of Islamic Studies students accept interreligious social relations; however, most do not subscribe to the belief that all religions are equally true. Nevertheless, most students agree that religious belief is a matter of individual freedom, and that understanding the basic principles of other religions is a prerequisite for interreligious social engagement. This outlook makes Islamic Studies undergraduates more open to forming friendships with peers of other faiths, respecting their beliefs, learning new things from them, and feeling comfortable interacting with and seeking help from them when needed. They are also at ease discussing academic and personal matters with friends of different religions, participating in daily activities together, and collaborating on university programmes. This aligns with Islamic teachings, which emphasise the importance of maintaining good relations with others within the boundaries prescribed by the religion, as it reflects faith and noble conduct. A Cronbach’s Alpha value of 0.680 further indicates that the findings of this pilot study are valid and highly suitable for application in a full-scale study involving a broader sample

Adapting the entrepreneurship model to end poverty in Sabah
Sabah’s poverty issue becomes the focus of the study due to the high incidence of poverty rate. The government made several attempts, most of which were unsuccessful. To solve this challenge, effective entrepreneurial effort is required. APPGM-SDGs have been created to address this problem. The study aims to adapt the proper entrepreneurship initiative model by employing a qualitative method through focus group discussions. Using six impact evaluation indicators (Deep, Clear, Wide, High, SDG, Gender) as a guide, 10 beneficiary groups from 10 distinct districts participated in the FGDs. Interviews with beneficiaries— mostly entrepreneurs— were conducted to learn how they reacted to the models of eradicating poverty. The progress report created by the solution providers was also cross-checked as part of the data collection process. Although SHARE Model may be useful in identifying the good potential projects before the project commencement, it must also consider ROI and ROV. Noteworthy, incorporating TVET components and ensuring alignment with pertinent SDGs are imperative for entrepreneurs. TVET institutions are therefore actively encouraged to develop close relationships with the community. Additionally, TVET reduces costs, saves time, and streamlines the process. The current study purposely focuses on the main issue related to SDG 1 (No Poverty). Reports from the ten projects representing the Sabah West region become the main reference of the study. The fact that so few of them can link the relevant SDG to the initiative suggests that the community's awareness of SDGs is inferior. Previous experiences engaging in various community projects and past research argued that understanding SDGs has to be parallel with gaining the required knowledge of entrepreneurship. Henceforth, learning what the community is lacking and understanding the return of value to any project of SDGs might elevate the community’s socioeconomics

Findings – Depascale demonstrated acceptable levels of validity, reliability, correlation and generalizability. Among its constructs, PW recorded the highest mean index score (1.1990), whereas PJ registered the lowest (1.0340). Research limitations/implications – The scope of the findings was limited by the selected geographical areas, the specific sample population and the technological settings employed in the study. Practical implications – By utilizing Depascale, waqf institutions can strengthen cash waqf behavior among waqifs, thereby promoting sustained contributions and ensuring the long-term sustainability of cash waqf initiatives. Originality/value – This study introduced the newly developed Depascale to Analyse waqif cash waqf contributions within the Malaysian context
Effects on early mathematics of a program using games, picture books and worksheets
This study examines the effect of three teaching methods, i.e., games, picture books, and worksheets on early mathematics performance among preschool children. The research utilized the test of early mathematics abilities aligned with Malaysia's National Standard Preschool Curriculum. A quantitative approach was adopted employing a multi-site quasi-experimental design with 1,100 preschool children aged 4 and 5 from national preschools in Sabah, Malaysia. Data analysis was conducted using one-way ANOVA and ANCOVA through SPSS version 28. Among the three methods tested (play-based, picture books, and worksheets), the play-based method yielded the highest achievement followed by worksheets and picture books. Although the intervention program implemented in this study did not produce dramatic improvements, it provides positive insights into preschool children's potential for early mathematics performance, especially the importance of using this method in large groups to optimize children’s knowledge acquisition and skills. The results revealed a significant impact of teaching methods on early mathematics performance. Teachers should utilize play-based teaching methods to the greatest extent possible to enhance the early math achievement of preschool children
Influence of family background on Islamic entrepreneurial skills among students in Aceh’s Islamic higher education institutions
This study investigates the impact of family background on Islamic entrepreneurial competencies among students in Aceh’s Islamic higher education institutions. Utilizing a quantitative survey, the research explores key variables such as the occupational backgrounds of both parents. The findings reveal two significant factors influencing students’ Islamic entrepreneurial competencies: the occupational backgrounds of their fathers and mothers. However, the mother’s influence is more prominent, particularly in shaping students’ psychomotor competencies, while no significant effect was found on cognitive and affective domains. The study highlights the need to incorporate family influences into the broader framework of entrepreneurial education in Islamic institutions. It suggests that educational policies should not only focus on skill development but also engage families actively in the learning process. By integrating family support, these institutions can empower students to leverage their backgrounds, fostering both economic and spiritual development within the community
