Theory of Misplacement
Theory of Misplacement
By Dorian Vale
— A Treatise in the Post-Interpretive Movement
Theory of Misplacement is a foundational treatise in the Post-Interpretive canon developed by Dorian Vale. It identifies a crucial but often ignored aesthetic violence: the misplacement of art through curatorial overreach, critical projection, or institutional dislocation. Unlike theories that focus solely on interpretation, this theory addresses what happens when a work is placed—physically, linguistically, or contextually—into a space that distorts its moral, cultural, or spiritual gravity.
Vale argues that not all aesthetic violence is enacted through misreading. Some is enacted through mis-siting—when works are exhibited without regard for their ontological weight, placed in institutional frames that suffocate their resonance, or paired with language that collapses their dignity.
This treatise outlines the differences between interpretation, erasure, and misplacement, showing how the latter often masquerades as reverence while enacting dilution.
Through philosophical analysis, metaphysical framing, and case-based reflection, Theory of Misplacement refines the post-interpretive imperative:
Not only must the critic resist speaking on behalf of the work — they must also ensure the work is not spoken over by its surroundings.
This theory complements Absential Aesthetics and Stillmark Theory in establishing a new custodial vocabulary for protecting the sanctity of placement, presence, and poetic truth in contemporary aesthetics.

Dorian Vale is a chosen pseudonym, not to obscure identity, but to preserve clarity of voice and integrity of message. It creates distance between the writer and the work, allowing the philosophy to stand unclouded by biography. The name exists not to hide, but to honor the seriousness of the task: to speak without spectacle, and to build without needing to be seen. This name is used for all official publications, essays, and theoretical works indexed through DOI-linked repositories including Zenodo, OSF, PhilPapers, and SSRN.
This entry is connected to a series of original theories and treatises forming the foundation of the Post-Interpretive Criticism movement (Q136308909), authored by Dorian Vale (Q136308916) and published by Museum of One (Q136308879). Estructuras metodológicas PICO y PRISMA 2020 en la elaboración de artículos de revisión sistemática: Lo que todo investigador debe conocer y dominar
Writing a scientific article for a systematic review of the scientific literature implies that the researcher, who may be a novice student or an outstanding professional, has developed certain skills and abilities in search, methodology, writing, presentation of results and follows a series of clear guidelines that provide the structure and ensure that the research can be replicated, which takes time to develop. In this context, the general objective of this research was to delve into the PICO (Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome) and PRISMA (Main elements for developing systematic reviews and meta-analysis) methodological structures for the development of a correct research question and search for scientific articles for the systematic review, serving as a guide by presenting theory and examples of its applicability. The methodology was a review of the scientific literature under the PRISMA methodology for the Scopus database, complemented with Scielo, obtaining a total of 15 articles for analysis. The results were able to go into depth and provide examples of the application of the PICO methodologies, related to the development of the research question, and PRISMA related to the systematic search for scientific articles. The limitations of the research were related to the different ways, some correct and others with deficiencies, in which the researchers use and apply both methodologies, making the preparation of this manuscript essential
Augmented Reality Trends and Popularity in Libraries: A Systematic Review
This study examines recent advances in Augmented Reality (AR)-based library services and the challenges of their implementation. Using the PRISMA method, scholarly publications from EBSCO, IEEE Xplore, Emerald, Taylor & Francis, and Google Scholar were analysed. Findings indicate that AR enhances access to information resources, supports maritime education, and improves user learning through interactive and remote engagement. However, barriers such as limited integrated applications and insufficient technological infrastructure remain. Despite its growing potential, research on AR adoption and strategic implementation in libraries is still limited
Нормативно-правове підгрунтя врегулювання питань відкритої науки в Україні
The aim of the article is to study the current state of regulatory and legal governing the open science issues in Ukraine. The research methods ground on a set of basic scientific methods, including generalisation, systematisation and prognostication on the coverage of the regulatory and legal governing open science issues, analytical monitoring of the legislative basis and publications on the topic of the study. The scientific novelty. An analysis of the regulatory and legal governing the open science issues in Ukraine is carried out. The main list of regulatory documents governing the open science is highlighted. Tendencies in the development of the legislative framework are identified; problematic issues that need to be resolved at the state level are outlined.Main conclusions. The analysis of the regulatory and legal framework reveals its focus on advancing open science and supporting digital innovations in order to enhance the accessibility and exchange of scientific knowledge in Ukraine. Among the key priorities identified are enhancing existing blocks and creating new components of the national infrastructure to support scientific communication; developing digital infrastructures for science and innovations; facilitating integration into the European Open Science Cloud and Single European Research Ecosystem; joining the EOSC memorandum; strengthening state support for the participation of Ukrainian research institutions and scientists in national and European digital infrastructures. At the same time, despite notable progress in advancing legal mechanisms, several barriers continue to hinder the effective implementation of open scientific communication. The adoption of key legislative acts and strategic documents has established a legal foundation for expanding access to scientific information, integrating Ukraine into international open science initiatives and supporting the development of necessary infrastructure. A major key driver in this process is the National Plan for Open Science Implementation, adopted in October 2022. Still, the practical application of these measures continues to face numerous challenges that call for further refinement and systemic solution
Unpacking drivers of online censorship endorsement: Psychological and demographic factors
This study explores the complex dynamics of online censorship endorsements within a national context. We examined the impact of some of the influential psychological and demographic factors contributing to online censorship endorsement of Iranian Telegram users. Through the analysis of 517 responses to an online questionnaire, we investigated the influence of variables such as age, education level, gender, the use of state-controlled media, political interests, personal trust, religiosity, perceived similarity, and motivated resistance to censorship on individuals' attitudes toward censorship. Our findings reveal that education level, state-controlled media usage, religiosity, perceived similarity, and motivated resistance to censorship significantly shape censorship endorsements in the Iranian Telegram users. The implications of these findings and avenues for further research are highlighted
