Duplication issues with the new interface of Scopus
Get PDFThis short communication discusses the duplication issue in Scopus's new interface. After searching for bibliographic records, the author noticed many duplicates in the downloadable file. This issue lasted a month, with 67% of records duplicated. After alerting Scopus, the new version was confirmed to have a duplication issue, prompting a recommendation to revert back to the old version. The study advises caution when utilizing Scopus data, particularly when exporting large files. Additionally, it highlights the novel attributes of the Scopus interface, including the ability to download 20,000 records at a time, a notable increase from the previous limit of 2,000

Get PDFAn indicator to measure disruption has recently been proposed (Funk & Owen-Smith, 2017; Wu, Wang, & Evans, 2019) which has given rise to a large number of variants (Bornmann et al., 2020). In this work we are going to focus on the original indicator DI and the one that seems to have a better performance DI5 (Bornmann and Tekles, 2021; Bittmann et al., 2021) carrying out a large-scale study comparing the scores assigned to each paper. with other bibliometric indicators. The result is that the papers to which the bibliometric indicators assign more value do not obtain better scores. Reviews and short surveys have higher scores than articles and conference papers. Excellent papers have worse scores than non-excellent ones. Works with international collaboration obtain worse values than those without it. Works published in Q1 journals have worse scores than those published in journals of other quartiles. And there is also a small negative correlation with the normalized impact and with the technological impact
Measuring Digital Skills in Europe and Spain: A Critical Review
Get PDFIn the current context of digital acceleration, having digital skills has become a necessity to avoid falling behind. In this regard, it is essential to understand the level of competencies of the population and take appropriate measures in relation to their evolution. Through the following study, a review of the Digital Economy and Society Index (DESI) is conducted as the main source for measuring European and Spanish digital performance, as well as the digital competencies of the population. From this review, some biases linked to the definition of the study group and the design of the survey on which it bases its results are identified. On the other hand, some limitations related to data aggregation that may mask the situation of vulnerable groups are also identified. Finally, considerations are provided on how to improve some of these aspects, such as the possibility of advancing towards a greater alignment between DESI itself and the European Framework for Digital Competence for Citizens, which serves as a conceptual model

Análisis de los intangibles corporativos de una biblioteca universitaria colombiana: percepciones de sus stakeholders
Get PDFThis article determines the perceptions that stakeholders have of a university library, based on the identity and image as intangibles, through a methodological proposal for the diagnostic evaluation and periodic monitoring of the corporate image. To achieve this, three information collection instruments were used: the OCAI instrument (Organizational Culture Assessment Instrument) applied to library management and employees, a questionnaire of 22 questions, and focus groups with students from different academic programs. It is evident that the students place it at the level of recognition or notoriety, and the ideal image of the management of the library focuses on a clan culture. However, strategies need to be developed, such as the implementation of social networks, the construction of spaces for individual and collective work, and the opening of spaces for cultural encounters that contribute to its reputational management
Alfabetización mediática, informacional y digital: autopercepción de los docentes en formación de telesecundaria en México
Get PDFThis article analyzes the relationship between the self-perception of media, information, and digital literacy among future teachers of telesecondary education and their sociodemographic characteristics, such as sex, age and academic year is analyzed. A quantitative, descriptive, and correlational study was conducted with a sample of 148 students from the Bachelor's program in Teaching and Learning in Telesecondary Education at a teacher training school in Veracruz, Mexico. The data were collected through an ad hoc questionnaire, and their evaluation was carried out through statistical methods such as the t test, Spearman's correlation, and analysis of variance . The results revealed no significant differences in this type of literacy based on sex, age, or academic year. In addition, the majority of students perceive themselves at an intermediate level of this competency. This finding underscores the importance of future research for an objective assessment and the strengthening of training programs in media, information, and digital literacy for future teacher

They have been transformed into dynamic spaces that play a crucial role in fostering entrepreneurship. This evolution reflects the recognition of libraries as versatile community centers and facilitators of lifelong learning. In this sense, libraries, by offering access to a wide range of resources, technology and knowledge, have become enabling environments for the development of entrepreneurial skills and the incubation of innovative ideas. These spaces not only house collections of books related to entrepreneurship, but also provide access to digital tools, training programs and events that foster creativity and entrepreneurship. In addition, the libraries act as meeting points for emerging entrepreneurs, providing a collaborative environment where they can exchange ideas, make connections and receive guidance from industry professionals. The integration of business advisory services and the organization of events such as entrepreneurship talks and workshops contribute to strengthening this role of libraries as catalysts for entrepreneurship
