Use of Robotics and Artificial Intelligence for Enhancing Library Services

    Get PDF
This paper discusses the use of Robotics and Artificial Intelligence for enhancing library services and the user perceptions. The authors demonstrate that while robotic systems offer interactive and customized user support, enhancing the overall user experience, AI-driven systems increase the efficiency of cataloguing procedures by automating metadata production and classification. The study also explains how robotics can help with standard maintenance duties like book retrieval and shelf organizing, freeing up human labour for more intricate and valuable work. The results imply that the application of AI and robotic technology in libraries increases service quality and operational efficiency while also improving accessibility and user-friendliness

This paper presents PyDataBibPub, a Python script to automate the downloading of Spanish public libraries data available on the webpage Bibliotecas públicas españolas en cifras. The script was written using ChatGPT 3.5 and the paper includes an exposition of its parts and how it works. PyDataBibPub and its code are available in a project in Codeberg licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0, so that it can be reused, adapted and improved. For the future, it is proposed the installation of alternatives to ChatGPT 3.5, such as PrivateGPT, which works locally, privately and not depending on commercial companies, with the aim of developing more applications useful for the discipline of Library and Information Science

Evaluación científica en Ciencias Sociales: explorando horizontes desde la tecnociencia como fenómeno social [Scientific evaluation in Social Sciences: Exploring horizons from technoscience as a social phenomenon]

    Get PDF
The science evaluation has generated debates and tensions in the scientific and academic community, especially in the Social Sciences field. This study aims to reflect on the topic from the perspective of technoscience as a social phenomenon and the alternative model of technoscience proposed by Latour, based on a critical review of the science evaluation in Latin America. A systematic review of the literature was carried out, with a qualitative approach to analyze criticisms and alternative proposals in scientific evaluation practices, with special emphasis on Social Sciences. The analysis identified criticisms and limitations in the evaluation processes. The proposal is based on techno-scientific changes that allow an effective integration between the knowledge production in Social Sciences and society, promoting quality, relevance, epistemological diversity and active participation of the academic and social community in scientific research

Fotografía y vídeo aéreos, una asignatura pendiente de los grados de Comunicación. Propuesta de un syllabus [Aerial photography and video, an emerging subject in Communication degrees. A syllabus proposal]

    Get PDF
This document addresses the need to include a subject on aerial photography and video in communication degrees, given the growing use and demand for these technologies. Curricula need to adapt quickly to technological advances such as drones, which have democratized access to aerial imagery and created new employment opportunities. In addition, drones have several advantages over traditional filming. The use of drones requires specific technical skills that are not currently included in communication degrees, forcing professionals to seek external training. It is argued that a specific subject would provide practical and theoretical knowledge, increasing employability in various fields such as filming, advertising, journalism and other audiovisual industries. The text also highlights the history and development of aerial photography, from its beginnings with hot-air balloons to the current use of drones, emphasizing its impact on many disciplines. Finally, a detailed curriculum proposal for the new subject is presented

    Get PDF
The article examines the interplay between subaltern memories, official narratives, and memory institutions through two case studies situated in the Magdalena Medio region of Colombia: The House of Memory and Human Rights of Women in the Magdalena Medio, spearheaded by the Popular Women's Organization, and The House of Historical Memory of San Vicente and El Carmen de Chucurí, established by the Colombian Military Forces. It delves into the repertoires of memories and narratives of struggle, denunciation, and resistance amidst the armed conflict, contrasting the perspectives of the Popular Women's Organization with the heroic, savior-like, and victimizing portrayal of the Military Forces. This analysis occurs within the context of a transition from a victim-memory regime to a plural memorial regime, characterized by increased democratization and decentralization of public memory. Moreover, these memory institutions emerge as spaces for understanding suffering through polyphonic narratives that prioritize emotion over historical reason. The permanent exhibitions of these memory institutions thus become narratives intertwining the pain of victims with multiple interpretations of the past

Aspectos diagnósticos de integridad académica: Caso CETYS Universidad

    Get PDF
The present study is based on the determination of the lack of academic integrity by detecting evidence of plagiarism in university school papers presented on the Blackboard platform, in a private Mexican university. This was done by analyzing the citation/reference system and expanding the analysis to bibliometric elements that may or may not confirm the findings made, within the framework of an information culture. 442 documentary works from courses in which the SafeAssig tool was previously used, from students between 2nd and 4th year of professional careers, were analyzed. The results were analyzed by Schools (Administration and Business, Social Sciences and Humanities, and Engineering). The results show that the culture of information decreases in its practice throughout the semesters. No major variations were observed in the bibliometric references. Thus, the conclusion is reached that the culture of information must cross the entire educational curriculum, which would positively affect the practice of academic integrity

Analyzing Programmer Psychological Traits Using Code and Sentiment Analysis

    Get PDF
Our research introduces a novel framework for analyzing programmer psychological traits by combining automated code analysis and sentiment assessment. Our contribution is in the form of a framework that can identify key behavioral traits such as attention to detail, collaboration orientation, and problem-solving tendencies. Unlike traditional survey-based methods, this approach offers objectivity and applicability across diverse programming contexts. Experimental results demonstrate its potential to contribute to software engineering, developer productivity research, and cognitive profiling of programmers

Bibliotecas Humanas. Revisión sistemática de su concepción e implementación en el ámbito educativo

    Get PDF
The need to cultivate inclusive and participatory environments in school settings justifies the implementation of strategies such as Human Libraries (HL), spaces where real individuals, referred to as “human books,” share their experiences and perspectives, thereby promoting empathy and dialogue. In this systematic literature review conducted following the PRISMA protocol, we examine the scientific literature on the implementation of HL in the educational context. The review covers the period from January 2000 to January 2024 and was carried out across the databases of Web of Science (WoS), Scopus, ERIC, Dialnet, and the Google Scholar search engine. Our review addresses seven research questions, grouped into four dimensions: the conception of HL in the educational context and their benefits, objects of study and participants, the implementation process and recommendations, challenges, and future research directions. Among the noteworthy findings is that HL, in addition to their educational function and their ability to counteract prejudices while fostering human connection, emerge as an innovative method associated with narrative research. This discovery provides valuable insights for future interventions and research endeavors that ensure the construction of educational environments free from violence
