Publicaciones que analizan la producción científica sobre ciencia abierta en América Latina: Un estudio bibliográfico
The initiatives and practices that constitute the Open Science Movement have contributed to transparency and access to scientific information. In Latin America, they are essential to the structuring and visibility of scientific production originating in the region. In this context, this research analyzes publications on Latin American scientific production on open science. The bibliographic survey, carried out in nine databases, resulted in the identification of 41 documents. These were grouped into three categories, according to the similarity of approaches: a) Applications and practices of open science (60.97%), b) Theoretical-reflective writings on open science (29.26%) and c) Metric studies of scientific production on open science (9.75%). The results indicate that the use of the term “open science” is recent, with productions dating back to the last 10 years and mainly associated with the dissemination of practices and development of resources within the movement. Metric studies on the topic are still incipient, with analyzes that involve multiple methodological possibilities, the variation of information sources, geographic and/or chronological sections and the variety of terminologies that make up the Open Science movement. The thematic breadth of the Open Science movement and the coverage of the data sources used, commonly with little representation of Latin American production, are among the limitations of this type of analysis
Concepciones de mediación de la información en el ámbito de los museos a partir de la literatura científica en Ciencia de la Información
In this article we provide an initial approach to the work of the publishing house of the Biblioteca Nacional Mariano Moreno of Argentina at the beginning of the 21st century. The BNMM publishing house represents a unique case in the field of publishing and library studies as a state-owned commercial publishing house has been scarcely studied. In this paper, both quantitative and qualitative techniques are used to analyze various sources such as prologues and epilogues of books and collections, regulations, journalistic articles and official speeches. After framing the publishing seal in relation to its own history and institutional mission and the public policies that support it, based on the reading of these sources and a descriptive and synthetic analysis of the catalog and two collections we reconstruct in general terms the actions of the publishing house during the period 2004-2015. Among the results, we present data that reflects the editorial production of the institution and the goals pursued by the initiative, in dialogue with contemporary debates about the mission of the BNMM, public publishing, and the dissemination of national culture
Considerações acerca da caracterização de coleções especiais históricas como patrimônio bibliográfico na Biblioteca MAC USP
This text brings the analysis on two historical-bibliographical collections of Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC USP). We will discuss the donations from Mario Zanini, in 1976, and Walter Zanini, in 2018 and their relationships with the receiving institution and with Brazilian art. The text presents the reasons between both bibliographical heritage, and the methodological foundations are based on the analysis about this two collections, linked to the activities of each donor’s performance in their artistic and academic contributions. Based on Didier Travier’s analysis, we concluded that is possible to classify the collections as bibliographic heritage
Influence of Learning Style Preferences on Written Communication Skills in a Blended Learning Environment
Written communication is an essential skill for information professionals. Therefore, it is common to implement writing tasks to develop this skill in higher education. However, it is known that students' learning style preferences can influence improved written communication skills unequally among students, considering practice with writing tasks. This study examined how learning style preferences can influence the improvement of written communication skills in a blended learning environment for university students in information and management control engineering. Over seven semesters, 215 students participated in writing tasks supported by a discussion forum, and their learning style preferences were measured and analyzed using the Honey and Mumford model. Student performance on the online forum was repeatedly measured to determine the variation in written communication skills according to different learning style preferences and to identify which students benefited most from the intervention. The results indicate that although students' primary learning style preference influences their performance in written communication, these skills improve regardless of the learning style preference. Students with a primary "reflector" learning style preference were the most numerous and achieved the greatest learning gains. Students with a "theorist" learning style preference demonstrated medium-sized improvements in spelling and writing, and students with an "activist" learning style preference had small but significant increases in the quality of their justification and argumentation. Overall, the results suggest that learning style preferences are a relevant individual characteristic for personalizing electronic or hybrid learning environments in writing tasks
Inteligencia Artificial: Educación, Instrucción y Verdad
Through a critical analysis, it refers to the confrontation between educational systems patiently built, by dint
of experience, time, methodologies, cultural adaptations, and limited means, and the still uncontrolled power of artificial intelligence. From the French position, the role of AI in the activities of instruction and education is analyzed, bearing in mind the reliability and the need for verification of the data that feed AI. It is warned that Education should use AI and not the other way around. Integrating AI into Instruction is an excellent idea... if we change the system. To integrate AI into Education is to delegate a collective responsibility to an inhuman machine. None of this will work properly as long as we do not have a real Data Bas
Contenidos y productos culturales disruptivos mediante el uso de tecnología (Sesión 3: Ciclo de webinars)
The current challenge in academia is to train communication professionals capable of collaborating with Artificial Intelligence (AI) in creating content for emerging audiences, thereby promoting human progress and advancing the sector through creativity, innovation, and responsibility
Exploring Social Networking Site Utilization Among Library Users at the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bengaluru: A Study
This study examines the preferences of the respondents, usage patterns and perceptions of Social Networking Sites (SNSs). The observations suggest that smartphones are one of the most preferred devices for accessing SNS, mainly due to their portability and flexibility. Although the principal purpose of SNSs are private messaging, entertainment, and education, however, encounters such as network issues and privacy concerns continue to exist. The users generally consign a high-level value on global connectivity and customized privacy settings, and also expect relatively high expectations of library services delivered via SNSs. Some of the propositions for improving the users’ experience include arranging in order of security and privacy procedures, improving network infrastructure, personalizing functionality, and fostering relationships with academic institutions
Curación de contenidos en las noticias en vivo de la prensa digital. Un estudio de ocho diarios españoles en las jornadas electorales de 2023
Preview of the results of a research study on Live News in the digital press, studying content curation in terms of the content it links (quantity, types of information sources, time range, and origin) and the way it is presented (curation techniques and function of the links). Live News from election day in Spain for the municipal and regional elections of May 28, 2023, and the general elections of July 23, 2023, are analyzed in four legacy media outlets: El Mundo, El País, El Periódico, and La Vanguardia, and four pure digital outlets: El Confidencial, elDiario.es, El Español, and OK Diario. As a provisional conclusion, it is advanced that Live News during election day shows a richness of content curation comparable to or superior to newsletters
Reimaginando la educación científica: el proyecto Tell-us, un viaje hacia el aprendizaje a través del arte
One of the main barriers facing science education is the perceived lack of connection of science teaching with students' real life or areas of interest. This is more of a challenge for non-scientists. Consequently, this can lead to the experience of a feeling of frustration and disinterest towards these subjects. The Tell-Us project is committed to making science more accessible, relevant, and stimulating for everyone, regardless of previous academic background. Through the synergy between art and science, the viewer is offered an alternative perspective that can aid the understanding of complex scientific concepts. Conceived as a didactic art exhibition, Tell-Us uses powerful visual representations to bring the viewer closer to topics related to geology, astronomy, meteorology, and astrophysics. The result is a project that shows the capacity of art to make science more attractive and understandable for non-scientists. Simultaneously, it enriches general scientific understanding by offering the possibility of new perspectives and methods for exploring and communicating scientific ideas
