La Alfabetización Informacional en las carreras pedagógicas cubanas
Get PDFThe study discusses the relevance of information literacy in higher education, based on Area 1 of the European Framework of Digital Competences for Citizenship. In this sense, an information literacy program is proposed for the acquisition of informational competencies of students of pedagogical careers at the University of Camagüey. The research assumes the mixed research approach and non-participant observation as the empirical method. Concerning the research techniques, there is a survey for students and an interview with academic directors to investigate the current state of information literacy in the students, from the determination of their information competencies to the analysis of the contents of the subjects and the learning activities. The results of the diagnosis show insufficiencies in the search, evaluation, and management of digital information. Thus, the program developed contains a set of actions focused on the treatment of digital information for teaching activities to improve the information literacy of the subjects investigated. It is concluded that information literacy should have an important place in the academic performance of students and be subject to continuous evaluation
Machine learning models in health prevention and promotion and labor productivity: A co-word analysis
Get PDFObjective: The objective of this article is to carry out a co-word study on the application of machine learning models in health prevention and promotion, and its effect on labor productivity.
Methodology: The analysis of the relevant literature on the proposed topic, identified in the last 15 years in Scopus, is considered. Articles, books, book chapters, editorials, conference papers and reviews refereed publications were considered. A thematic mapping analysis was performed using factor analysis and strategy diagrams to derive primary research approaches and identify frequent themes as well as thematic evolution.
Results: The results of this study show the selection of 87 relevant publications with an average annual growth rate of 23.25% in related production. The main machine learning algorithms used, the main research approaches and key authors, derived from the analysis of thematic maps, were identified.
Conclusions: This study emphasizes the importance of using co-word analysis to understand trends in research on the impact of health prevention and promotion on labor productivity. The potential benefits of using machine learning models to address this issue are highlighted and anticipated to guide future research focused on improvements in labor productivity through prevention and promotion of health.
Originality: The identification of the relationship between work productivity and health prevention and promotion through machine learning models is a relevant topic but little analyzed in recent literature. The analysis of co-words allows us to establish the reference point of the state of the art in this regard and future trends

Such misinformation can promote dangerous theories and mislead readers, often proliferating through social media or fake websites. Some open-access journals may falsely claim groundbreaking medical discoveries. In academia, counterfeit publications mislead scholars and can be exploited for academic dishonesty. The consequences are significant both socially and academically, as fake information can influence politics, illegal business, and extreme movements, while undermining the credibility of legitimate research. La reforma universitaria de 2014 en Perú. Cambios en las prácticas científicas de 92 universidades licenciadas
Get PDFnvestigación y recomendaciones dirigidas a quienes toman decisiones en la gestión de la investigación y a los participantes en la comunicación científica = This study aims to make a longitudinal analysis of the changes regarding the results and resources used to assemble a research activity about 92 licensed Peruvian universities, in the framework of implementing the 2014 university reform policy. Data publication was obtained from Scopus and Scival while human resource data came from Concytec. The interrupted time series with a quasi-experimental design and a non-equivalent control group with regression analysis was used, considering the implementation of the university reform as the “treatment”. The results reveal an increase in university publications, especially in private corporate universities, as well as in the number of Renacyt researchers. On the other hand, the control group, composed of public research institutes, maintained a similar trend before and after the university reform, unlike the non-linear growth in university publications. There is also a decrease in the percentage of publications in international collaboration and in quartile 1 journals. Variations in the normalized impact are observed between the different groups of universities throughout the period of analysis. Limitations are presented and future lines of research and recommendations are suggested for those who make decisions in research management and those involved in scientific communication

Get PDFResearch data management has involved early and immediate actions in higher education institutions in Colombia and around the world. In August 2022, the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation of Colombia published the National Open Science Policy, in which its goals and strategies express the implementation of research data management services and data repository. This research defines the research data management service at the Francisco José de Caldas District University, a public university with a population of about 28,000 students and more than 200 research groups. Through the TOPE reference methodology (Tecnology, Organization, People, Environment) an urgent need to define policies, training and accompanying strategies for the management of research data was identified, as well as support for research bodies and libraries within the institution; the diagnosis of research data published by researchers of the institution allowed to identify 599 datasets published in the last 12 years in different repositories as Mendeley Data, Zenodo, SiB Colombia - GBIF Colombia for, finally, define, using the Business Process Management Notation methodology, the approach of the institution-wide research data management service. This research poses a scenario of response to national policy and establishes new routes aimed at developing a level of maturity at the institutional level regarding the management of research data in an open science context
Designing a Knowledge-based Economy Model to Achieve Knowledge-based Development
Get PDFPurpose: The Purpose of this study is to construct a model that identifies the components of the knowledge-based economy in order to promote its development through insights from experts.
Methodology: This qualitative research employs a thematic analysis approach with a focus on professors, experts, and individuals knowledgeable about the subject. A total of 52 participants were selected using purposeful sampling and data was collected through semi-structured interviews.
Findings: Initially, 1,535 codes were extracted, leading to 353 codes in the subsequent stage, and further refined to 42 secondary codes during the central coding phase. Ultimately, nine main codes were derived in the selective coding stage.
Conclusion: Emphasizing the importance of a knowledge-based economy can enhance productivity, foster economic prosperity, and facilitate the creation and growth of knowledge-based enterprises. Such emphasis can also boost competitiveness, innovation, and success in global markets, ultimately leading to improved standards of living and sustainable development.
Value: This research offers insight into the role of a knowledge-based economy in driving knowledge-based development within the country
Investigating the Current Research Landscape of Social Justice concerns in Sustainable Development: A Bibliometric Analysis
Get PDFThis study examines the research on social justice in Sustainable Development (SD) using bibliometrics. It analyzed 2468 papers published between 2014 and 2023, focusing on publication trends, keyword co-occurrence for thematic analysis, co-citation analysis in respect of highly cited authors, and collaboration between a number of authors with highly cited countries and used a combination of approaches, including qualitative analysis and bibliometrics. The study found that the United States topped the list in terms of both publications and the number of citations. The findings aim to enhance knowledge in the field and aid decision-making by academics, researchers, and policymakers in social justice and the SDGs
