Not all displacement is spatial. Some begins the moment a work is truly witnessed — and cannot return to what it was.
In this seminal treatise, Dorian Vale introduces Aesthetic Displacement Theory, a core pillar within the Post-Interpretive Movement. This theory argues that the true aesthetic event is not the artwork itself, nor even its creation — but the irreversible alteration that occurs at the moment of witness. Once seen with moral proximity, a work can no longer be what it was before. And neither can the viewer.

Get PDFThis study proposes a methodology using OpenAlex (OA) for tracking Open Access publications in the case of Argentina, a country where a self-archiving mandate has been in effect since 2013 (Law 26.899, 2013). A sample of 167,240 papers by researchers from the Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas (CONICET) was created and analyzed using statistical techniques. We estimate that OA is able to capture between 85-93% of authors for all disciplines, with the exception of Social Sciences and Humanities, where it only reaches an estimated 47%. The availability of papers in Open Access was calculated to be 41% for the period 1953-2021 and 46% when considering exclusively the post-law period (2014-2021). In both periods, gold Open Access made up the most common route. When comparing equal periods post and pre-law, we observed that the upward trend of gold Open Access was pre-existing to the legislation and the availability of closed articles in repositories increased by 5% to what is estimated based on existing trends. However, while the green route has had a positive evolution, it has been the publication in gold journals that has boosted access to Argentine production more rapidly. We concluded that the OA-based methodology, piloted here for the first time, is viable for tracking Open Access in Argentina since it yields percentages similar to other national and international studies

Building Self-Esteem in Elementary School Students: The Promising Benefits of Bibliotherapy
Get PDFThe purpose of this study was to explore the use of bibliotherapy as an intervention to enhance self-esteem in elementary school students. This study used a quasi-experimental design with two control groups and two experimental groups consisting of both boys and girls. Pre-test and post-test assessments were conducted, and an eight-session training program was implemented for the experimental groups. The training program involved using stories as the primary tool for intervention, which were categorized into four types, including stories aimed at enhancing self-esteem and alleviating pain. From the category of self-esteem stories, eight stories were selected and delivered over four weeks, with two 45-minute sessions per week. The collected data were analyzed using analysis of covariance (ANCOVA). Each session lasted two hours per week. The study found that both boys and girls in the experimental groups experienced a significant increase in self-esteem, with the effect size measure indicating that 87% and 71% of the variance in self-esteem could be attributed to the independent variable of bibliotherapy in boys and girls, respectively. A comparison of the effectiveness of bibliotherapy between male and female students in a quasi-experimental study revealed that girls had significantly higher levels of self-esteem compared to boys. The study suggests that presenting selected stories as an alternative approach to boosting self-esteem can provide valuable insights into children's self-esteem. These results are consistent with previous research that supports the effectiveness of bibliotherapy interventions in promoting self-esteem. Thesauri: Facilitators of Ontologies Construction and Development
Get PDFObjective: The aim of this research is to conduct an analysis of qualitative and quantitative studies on applying thesauri to the construction and development of ontologies and the identification of subject domains. We will investigate the approaches and methods used in these studies.
Method: This descriptive-analytical research was conducted following the seven stages of systematic review suggested by Petticrew and Roberts (2008). Data analysis and visualization were facilitated using the DatawRapper software.
Results: The analysis of studies in the area of applying thesauri in the construction and development of ontologies, while identifying and presenting the subject trends of studies, frequency, methods, languages and approaches, showed that the studies in this area include six main topics as follows: applying thesauri in the construction and development of ontologies in connection with multilingual information retrieval, applying thesauri in the construction and development of ontologies to cover a specific subject domain, applying the ISO 25964 standard in the development of ontologies using thesauri, presenting the framework, methods and tools for the use of thesauri in construction and development of ontologies, improving semantic relations and concept mapping using thesauri in the construction and development of ontologies and review studies of thesauri conversion to ontologies.
Conclusions: Various subject domains, across different time periods, have benefited from applying thesauri for the construction and development of ontologies. Thesauri, as semantic tools, have provided the context for organizing, retrieving and accessing information more accurately and easily for stakeholders and applicants across various domains. Despite these advancements, the lack of a standardized and consensual framework, coupled with the need to update methods, approaches, and tools due to the reliance on natural language processing (NLP) technologies and knowledge engineering, has necessitated further research to mature this field
