    No full text
This paper gives an example of a potential waste management centre construction in the Osijek-Baranja County. First, the existing situation regarding waste management was established (quantity and composition). Today, waste is disposed on 9 ‘official’ landfills and a series of ‘unofficial’ ones. Considering the unsustainable nature of the present condition, which is contrary to the applicable Croatian regulations, efforts have been made to develop a solution with the aim of building a single waste management centre. The projections regarding mobility, generation, collection and disposal of waste for a period of 30 years are provided

The New Pragmatism, or economics and policy for the future

    No full text
Economics is not only a means of interpreting the past, but it must become an instrument for shaping the future, too. It should show inevitable future economic processes, with their links to culture, technology, and environment. With theoretical knowledge of this area, strategies of economically, socially, and environmentally sustainable development can be put in place. In the future, heterodoxy is bound to dominate, and economics will become increasingly interdisciplinary. Future generations need economics of moderation and a theory describing it, as opposed to the thus far prevailing economics of either deficiency or excess. We need the New Pragmatism

    No full text
This study targets professional women of cultural enterprises in China as objective, applying SEM empirical analysis to investigate the relationship of professional women’s work and family conflicts and turnover intention. It also tries to verify whether work and family relationships (managerial support and organizational family support) are mediating effects between work and family conflicts and turnover intention. The results showed that the greater work and family conflict professional women are facing, the greater their tendency to leave, but managerial support in the work and family relationship will produce a mediating effect; however, no effect of organizational family support was proved. It is recommended that companies should pay attention to work and family conflicts of female staff, and apply managerial support to reduce turnover intention

With Taiwan ROC’s economic growth, the importance of service industries has gradually increased. Tourism services, as a comprehensive undertaking with multiple objectives, contribute greatly to the foreign exchange earnings of the country. Specifically, international hotels, which provide accommodation, catering, shopping, socializing, committee rooms and recreation, play a crucial role in the tourism industry. The current study adopted the Delphi method and offered an anonymous channel for conveying opinions. After repetitive consultations, summarizations and revisions, the analytic network process (ANP) principles for the study were finally constructed. The subjects of the study were clients of international tourist hotels in the Taipei area. In total, 250 questionnaires were distributed, and 176 valid questionnaires were collected, at a questionnaire response rate of 70%. As the results demonstrated, the most significant dimension was “Responsiveness” (weight = 0.238): which accounted for 23.8% of the overall weights. Other dimensions were also important: “Assurance” (weight = 0.217), “Reliability” (weight = 0.205), “Empathy” (weight = 0. 183), and “Tangibles” (weight = 0.157). The research results showed that “Responsiveness” was of the greatest importance for service quality in international tourist hotels. The data compiled from the overall weights of evaluation indicators of the service quality for the international hotels showed that, among the 16 evaluation indicators, the top five indexes were ranked, based on importance, as follows: service willingness, expertise, responsiveness, reliability, and cordiality
