Mobile Flood Protection Walls
Flooding is a burning issue in Hungary because of its geographical conditions. The topic of this article is to describe the mobile flood protection methods, which are able to accomplish the criteria of environment and sustainability. Mobile flood wall is a new solution in flood protection which is used in populated area. The design of mobile flood walls must focus on surveying water levels, determination of loads and limitation of leaking water. The main types of loads on the structure are hydrostatic, hydrodynamic and impact loads. The DIN 1055 German standard is used to determine the loads
Leachability of chromium and barium from concrete samples with blast furnace slag addition
The paper presents the results of leachability testing of selected heavy metals from the concrete composites of various compositions in order to assess the degree of a contamination risk of the environment. Tested concrete samples contained various amounts of special ingredients based on the blast furnace slag (65%, 75%, 85% and 95% of Portland cement replacement). Leaching tests have been performed by using distilled water. The concentrations of chromium and barium ions in the leachates were measured after period of 30 and 240 days. Changes in pH and conductivity values in leachates have been also observed
A procedure for measurement of magnetic characteristics in quasi-static regime
In this paper a procedure for magnetic hysteresis measurement in quasi-static regime with a controlled rate of change of the magnetic polarization is proposed. The waveform of the polarization is modulated by means of iterative augmentation using an inverse approach. The setup, the measurement principle and the logical diagram of the procedure algorithm are presented. Experimental results obtained with the new procedure, applied on soft magnetic materials are presented. The measurements made at 0.1 Hz and 1 Hz show a difference of the characteristic values in the range of 5 % to 8 %. The paper demonstrates that, with this new procedure, quicker and more reliable measurements could be obtained
The Baron Jozsef Eotvos Collegium as an elite teacher training institute. The analysis of the admitted members between 1895 and 1950
The paper analyses the development of the Hungarian secondary school teacher and the history of the Jozsef Eotvos Collegium as an elite teacher training and scientific institute between 1895 and 1950. The personal data of the former members of the Collegium till 1950 are analysed, as well as the profile of the admitted members in each periods of the history of the Collegium. Up to now nobody has researched into this topic, which is original. The importance of this theme is shown by the following data: up to 1945 730 boarding pupils successfully finished their studies at the Collegium (since 1,205). 115 of the former member became university or high school teachers, 60 of them worked at scientific institutions as researchers, 58 became heads of secondary schools, and 44 became members of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. But most of them, 400, became secondary schools teachers, so many of the former pupils lifted up the level of the Hungarian secondary school's teaching standards. The data show how a successfully model - the Eotvos Collegium - works in teacher training
