Typological Investigation of Climate Systems and Design of Multifunctional Shading Structures for The Facade of The Szentágothai Research Center
No full textThe research is done at the simulation laboratory of the energy design research group of the University of Pécs. Aim of the research is to design a multifunctional shading structure, which is warmed up by solar radiation and then starts an evaporative cooling process. Via this evaporative process the shading structure itself and also the climate facade is cooled down. The experimental climate façade of the Szentágothai Research Center will be used for the purpose of this research. Integrating the shading structure to the climate façade further investigations and simulations will be available
Verification of specific grinding parameters and strength activity index of glass and clay brick
No full textThe aim of this paper is to verify activity index (pozzolanic reactivity) of finegrained waste glass and clay brick. First part of this work consists from milling process with variation in milling parameters (time, grinding ratio) and determination (analysis) of the grain size distribution. Subsequently strength activity index is assessed for samples of particles size 50-60 μm. According to EN 450-1 method, tested samples does not reached an appropriate limit values as 25% substitute of cement. This result does not disqualify this type of construction and demolition waste as active additive in building materials but it is necessary improving their input parameters

Determination of The Basic Characteristics of Sludge for Utilization in Building Cement Composites
No full textThis paper presents the results of basic research using sludge as a secondary material produced during the process of wet aggregates grading. The basic objective of this study was to identify important properties of sludge for the further use as substitute filler in the cement composites. Results of tests executed, like determination of particle size, bulk density, chemical composition (XRF method), mineralogical composition (XRD method) and both clay lumps and humus content were compared with those of natural aggregate (reference sample), as well as with standard criteria. For all tested properties, sludge shows satisfactory parameters, except the granularity. Here samples demonstrate high portions of fine particles in the 0/4 range. Thus can be concluded, sludge has a potential to be used as filler in cement composites requiring bigger amounts of fine particles, like self-compacting concretes
Road Patterns of Housing Estates in Hungary
No full textThis paper deals with the road patterns of housing estates in eight Hungarian cities. The investigation was directed to the characteristic of street networks using geographic information system. The different types of housing estates were compared using the following indicators: ratio of T and X junctions, ratio of the dead ends, average distance between nodes, connectivity index, and road density. It is concluded that according to their street network the housing estates have three periods
Strategic waste management planning – the organization of municipal solid waste collection in Oulu, Finland
No full textMunicipal solid waste management is a basic service that, in Finland, consists of collection, transportation and treatment systems provided by municipalities, waste management companies and producer responsibility organizations. The amount of municipal solid waste in Finland has risen quite steadily for many decades. In 2012, the recovery rate of municipal solid waste as material or energy was 67%. The Finnish Waste Act has been updated in 2012, with the key goal to further reduce waste amounts and progress recycling. The paper describes the best practices in strategic waste management planning and describes the organization of municipal solid waste in city of Oulu, Finland
