From sign to design: The role of domain transfer in redefining architecture locality

    No full text
This research examines the design process using conceptual frameworks based on domain transfer to suggest a new model for architecture based on local contexts. Plowrights conceptual framework is a way of developing new ideas, in which architecture may or may not be subverted with concepts that are significant; meanings may also be redefined with ‘big ideas’ (concepts), analogy, metaphor or significant questions from inside and outside the realms of architecture. This research utilizes case study method through design and reflects on the design process within the context of the West Java Cultural Center design competition. This analysis deconstructed and explained the design process using the conceptual framework, identifying unique representations of crosscultural and West Java culture as the basis for an architectural program. The case was used to understand the transformational architectural syntax occurring from local signs and symbols as evidence of innovation. The results of the case study fell within three areas: concepts as a way to achieve a place of innovation (hypothesis), transferring ideas based on locality into elements and syntax (transfer), and bringing them all together into a coherent design (coherence). Domain transfer was redefined in this case study as the translation of symbolic values and cultural attributes from non-architecture into architectural form and elements in pursuit of contextual design innovation

The Land is The Icon: Disappearing Architecture through Natural Forces

    No full text
This paper reimagines architectural landmarks within the hills of Labuan Bajo, proposing an approach where architecture seamlessly integrates with the landscape rather than asserting dominance. The study examines how design strategies can amplify rather than overshadow the natural environment, positioning nature as the true landmark through ephemeral architecture. Using Plowrights force-based framework within an architectural competition, the research employs a research-by-design methodology to iteratively refine solutions that dissolve built interventions into the terrain. By integrating Labuan Bajos topographical and visual characteristics, the design leverages adaptive modularity and sustainable strategies to ensure perceptual fluidity within the sites ecological and cultural context. This approach contributes to landmark design by demonstrating how architecture can function as a dynamic extension of the landscape, fostering harmony rather than visual competition

How Do Oil Companies in Emerging Country Manage Carbon Emissions to Improve Sustainability Reporting? A Case Study of PT Pertamina

    No full text
This study examines PT Pertaminas management of decarbonization initiatives and the improvement of its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance. By examining scientific literature and sustainability disclosures, this study evaluates corporate carbon management strategies. It focuses on three main areas: direct emissions from operations (Scope One), indirect emissions from energy purchases (Scope Two), and indirect emissions from the entire value chain, including product usage (Scope Three). PT Pertamina exceeded its 2023 emissions reduction target by 124%, decarbonizing 1.13 million tons of CO₂e and earning the highest global ESG rating among integrated oil and gas companies, according to Sustainalytics. The sale of B35 biodiesel has further reduced emissions by 28 million tons annually, underscoring its leadership in green energy development. However, critical challenges remain, including reliance on palm oil-based biofuels, which raise concerns over deforestation and biodiversity loss, and the high capital and policy barriers facing carbon capture, utilization, and storage technologies. Despite improved ESG ratings, high Scope Three emissions highlight the need for a more profound systemic transformation beyond operational improvements. Thus, while PT Pertamina’s achievements contribute to Indonesia’s 2060 net-zero goal, long-term sustainability requires transparent reporting, technological innovation, and a fundamental shift in business models. This case offers key insights into the opportunities and limitations of decarbonization strategies within emerging economy contexts

Membangun Kesadaran Finansial: Integrasi Literasi Fintech dan Pengendalian Perilaku Konsumtif

    No full text

Market liquidity of agriculture sector in Indonesia and Malaysia during COVID-19 Delta

    No full text
This study aims to assess the influence of the COVID-19 Delta outbreak on stock market liquidity within the agricultural sectors of Indonesia and Malaysia. This study assesses the impact of the COVID-19 Delta variant by examining COVID-19 cases, mortalities, recoveries, vaccinations, and stringency datasets. The study comprised a sample of 57 agricultural firms listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) and Bursa Malaysia. Daily data was collected from January to December 2021, generating 8358 observations. The study utilises the panel regression weighted least square (WLS) analysis approach. This study reveals that COVID-19 Delta has adversely affected market liquidity in the agricultural sectors of Indonesia and Malaysia. The study reveals that rising daily cases, deaths, and recoveries have a negative effect on market liquidity, whereas vaccination and stringency do not demonstrate any association. Even increasing the recovery rate does not restore market liquidity due to the Delta variants negative impact
