Primary hyperparathyroidism in pregnancy
Primary hyperparathyroidism is a disorder, in which parathormone is secreted excessively and it is associated with hypercalcemia. The cause of primary hyperparathyroidism is seen in 85% of parathyroid adenoma cases, in 4% of multiple adenoma cases, and in 10% of hyperplasia cases. Assessment Rate of Medication Error and Relate Psychological Responses in Nurses of Intensive Care Unit of Ardabil Hospitals
Background & Aim: Providing patient safety and security is one of the priorities of nursing care and management. Paying attention to the standards of drug therapy plays an important role in patient safety and nurses' health. Also, the effect of drug mischief on harm to the patient also affects the nurses. The aim of this study was to determine Rate of Medication Error and Related Psychological Responses in Nurses of Intensive Care Unit of Ardabil Hospitals.
Methods: This is a descriptive cross-sectional study in which 191 nurses of special care units in Ardabil in 2018 were enrolled in a census. The data collection tool was a demographic questionnaire, a revised medication error July and colleagues, and psychological responses related to drug errors. Data were analyzed by SPSS software version 22 using descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation) and analytical (Pearson correlation coefficient, ANOVA and T-test).
Results: Results showed that 86.4% of nurses in the last 6 months had at least one case of medication error, which resulted in 2.68% of physical injuries. Error reporting rate was 19.46%, and the mean error rate was 3.6 for each nurse. The most psychological responses were stress (75.39%) with an average severity of 6.7 ± 3.2, a feeling of guilty (66.49%) with an average severity of 4.2 ± 2.8. There was a statistically significant difference between age and employment status with frequency of error and between employment status and frequency of error (P <0.05). Also, error rate was significantly correlated with psychological responses (P <0.05).
Conclusion: Medication errors create multiple psychological responses in a variety of intensities in nurses. Therefore, after the occurrence of any error, it is necessary to take the necessary measures and measures to reduce the same complications for the patient and the nurse as the primary and secondary victims to do
Ultrasonic-assisted H2O2/TiO2 process in catechol degradation: kinetic, synergistic and optimisation via response surface methodology
This experimental study investigated the performance of Catechol degradation by US/TiO2/H2O2 process as an integrated advance oxidation process. In this experimental study, initial pH, dose of TiO2, initial concentration of Catechol, H2O2 concentration and reaction time parameters optimised BBD. The results suggest that US/TiO2/H2O2 process has a high efficiency in Catechol degradation. Optimum condition of US/TiO2/H2O2 process is pH = 3.43, H2 O2 concentration = 130 mg/l, TiO2 dose = 0.34 g/l, Catechol concentration = 12.52 mg/l and reaction time = 70.64 min. According to predicate point, the percentage of Catechol removal in this condition was 96.2 and 92.34 as a predicated and experimentalpercentageofCatecholremovalbythisprocess.Thekinetics ofreactionfollowspseudo-first-orderkinetic.Thesynergisteffectof sonolysis, TiO2 and H2O2 is 2.09 fold. 70 and 63% of initial COD and TOC were removed. Effect of Relining with Different Composite Resins on the Push-out Bond Strength of Anatomical Fiber Posts to Root Canal Dentin
Introduction: Relining fiber posts using composite resins helps the posts adapt to the anatomical space of the root canals. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of composite resin type on the push-out bond strength of anatomical fiber posts to intra canal dentin. Methods and Materials: Forty-eight bovine upper incisors were prepared for post space after root canal therapy and randomly divided in to six groups. Five different types of composite resin (GrandioSO, GrandioSO Heavy Flow, X-tra Fil, X-tra base and everX Posterior) were used for relining the prepared fiber posts. In the control group, the prepared post was cemented into the post space without relining. Cervical, middle and apical cross-sections were achieved from each root and push-out test was conducted at a crosshead speed of 0.5 mm/min. One sample from each group was scanned using a micro-CT scanner which provided views from the apical, middle and coronal thirds. Data were analyzed using Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, repeated measures ANOVA and post hoc tests using SPSS 17 (P<0.05). Results: Statistical analysis showed significant differences in terms of mean push-out bond strengths between different composite resin types and cross-sections (P<0.001). The mean push-out bond strength of the samples relined with Grandio SO composite resin (15.48±2.32) and X-tra Fil Bulk-fill composite resin (14.09±1.98) were significantly higher than that of other groups (P<0.05). The unrelined group had a mean push-out bond strength (5.94±1.45) which was significantly lower than that in other groups (P<0.05). In addition, there was a relationship between cross-sections and composite resin types (P<0.05). Conclusion: This in vitro study showed that the composite resins used for relining can affect the push-out bond strength to intra canal dentin based on their physical and mechanical properties
Magnetic nanocomposite of filamentous algae activated carbon for efficient elimination of cephalexin from aqueous media
Discharge of antibiotics into the environment can cause problems like increase of the microorganisms’ resistance, disturbing the ecological balance and increasing the allergy in humans. In this research, an activated carbon was produced from filamentous algae and then magnetized with Fe3O4. The adsorbent size was nano-scale and its characteristics were studied using XRD, FT-IR, FE-SEM, BET and VSM techniques. The response surface method (RSM) was employed to optimize the operating parameters and determine the best conditions for cephalexin removal by novel composite of AC-Fe3O4. The various parameters in the process, such as reaction time, initial pH, adsorbent dose, initial concentration of cephalexin and effect of cations and anions that could interfere in the adsorption of cephalexin were evaluated in three levels. The proposed quadratic model was found to be best suggested model for the adsorption process (R2=0.99094 and Radj2=0.9991). According to results, the parameters such as cephalexin concentration, the adsorbent dose, the reaction time and the pH value were found to be 28.16 mg/L, 2 g/L, 30.04 and 3.02, respectively. Experimental results showed that the adsorption of cephalexin followed Langmuir isotherm (R2=0.9803). Also, the results showed cephalexin adsorption on the composite fitted pseudo-second-order kinetics. The study showed that the AC-Fe3O4 adsorbent has high efficacy for eliminating cephalexin from aqueous solution. © 2020, The Korean Institute of Chemical Engineers
Chemical Composition and Some Biological Activities of Artemisia marschalliana Essential Oil
Background and objectives: The aerial parts of Artemisia marschalliana Sprengel as an indigenous
species of genus Artemisia in the East Azerbaijan province of Iran, was subjected to phytochemical
analysis, as well as anti-proliferative, free-radical-scavenging and anti-malarial activities. Methods:
The chemical composition of the essential oil obtained from the aerial parts of A. marschalliana was
analyzed by GC/MS (gas chromatography/mass spectrometry) and GC/FID (gas chromatography/
flame ionization detector). The anti-proliferative, anti-oxidant, and anti-malarial activities of the
essential oil were assessed by MTT, 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), and cell-free β-hematin
formation assays, respectively. Results: A total of 38 constituents were identified, which represented
95.55% of the oil. The essential oil was characterized by a high content of oxygenated sesquiterpenes.
The major components of the oil were spathulenol (38.25%), isoaromadendrene epoxide (8.5%), and
caryophyllene oxide (7.31%). The oil exhibited cytotoxic activity against the human breast
adenocarcinoma (MCF-7) cell line. The half maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) of anti-malarial
assay was 0.38±0.04 mg/mL; the oil, however, displayed low anti-oxidant activity. Conclusion:
These findings will be beneficial for the further development of new chemotherapeutic or antimalarial agents
A brief review of the treatment of endometriosis from the perspective of complementary medicine
Introduction: Endometriosis is a chronic estrogen-dependent disorder that is considered to be the presence of endometrial tissue outside the uterine cavity. Chronic pelvic pain, dysmenorrhea, dys paronychia, dyspnea, chronic fatigue, and infertility are the most common symptoms that can have a profound effect on people's quality of life. The prevalence of this disease is unclear, although it is estimated that in 10% of women it affects fertility and about 50% of infertile women. Endometriosis rarely develops malignant deformities; however, individuals at risk for ovarian, breast, and other cancers as well as the risk of autoimmune diseases are at increased risk. Materials and Methods: This article is a review study and data collection based on search of clinical articles published in scientific databases such as Academic Jihad, Silvica, pubmed and google scholar without time limit and gynecology and endometriosis reference books with The keywords are used. Finally, the collected data are analyzed, compared and concluded.
Findings: In Iranian traditional medicine sources, various herbs based on their unique therapeutic properties can be used in the treatment of endometriosis. In this study, several herbs and their use are mentioned.
Conclusion: By utilizing the ability of modern medicine to accurately diagnose and treat endometriosis, traditional medicine capacities can be used to treat the underlying causes of endometriosis. A combination of modern and traditional medicine in the diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis in clinical research is suggested to promote women's health.

Immuno- and bio-informatic analysis of hexon protein in human adenovirus D8 isolated from patients with keratoconjunctivitis
Aim:In silico analysis of the hexon protein of human adenovirus serotype D-8 isolated from a patients with keratoconjunctivitis in Iran. Materials & methods: The hexon gene of HAdV-D8 was amplified by PCR. HAdV-D8 recovered from EKC outbreak was isolated by growing in A549 cells. Results: The hexon gene isolated from a patient with EKC comprised 2829 nt and 942 aa. The analyses of selected B-cell epitopes prediction (KTFQPEPQIGENNWQD) and T-cell epitopes prediction (TENFDIDLAFFDIPQ), showed high score immunogenicity, which may prove this to be a promising candidate for epitope vaccine development. Conclusion:In silico analysis of selected B-cell epitopes prediction (KTFQPEPQIGENNWQD) and T-cell epitopes prediction (TENFDIDLAFFDIPQ) are immunogenic and provoke B- and T-cell responses
Assessment of Medical Waste Management (A Case Study of Hospitals in Ardabil)
Background &objectives:Medical wastesareof great significance due totheirpotentialenvironmental impacts.This study aimed to examine the medical waste managementinhospitals of Ardabil city in 2016.Methods:In this cross-sectional study, hospitals of Ardabil city (7hospitals) were studied.Initial data were obtained from library information, observation and checklist.Also,thequantity of produced wastes in hospitalswasdeterminedthrough theirweighting in threeconsecutive days inoneseason.In order to evaluateother items of waste management patternin hospitals,guidelines provided byministry of health and medicaleducationwereused. Dataanalysis was performedby comparingthe existingsituation with rules and guidelinesinMicrosoft excel.Results:The rate of produced waste in studied hospitalswas obtained2.74 to 5.70 kg/b.d. Inaverage,general, biomedical, sharp and chemical-pharmaceutical wasteswere accounted for47.30%,50.78%,0.91%and1.01%of total produced wastes, respectively.Implementationphases of waste management were matchedpoor tomedium with laws. There was biomedicaltreatment systemin 5 hospitals, of which40%hadproper function.Conclusion:Medical waste management in studied hospitalsshowed nosuitablestatusandneededaplanning for continuous training and performance monitoring
Local-level challenges to implementing health education programs in rural settings: a qualitative study
Background. Health education is one of the main cores of primary health care (PHC). However, there is limited evidence on the difficulties of implementing health education programs. This study explored the barriers of implementing health education programs in Iranian rural communities. Objectives. A qualitative study with conventional content analysis approach was conducted. Applying purposeful sampling, 34 rural folks and health care providers were employed to participate in the study. Data were collected through individually, semi-structured interviews. Data analysis continued until data saturation, when no new theme or idea emerged. Material and methods. A qualitative study with conventional content analysis approach was conducted. Four themes, including “Ineffective teaching and learning processes”, “Lack of health educators’ motivation”, “Communication gaps”, and “Lack of resources and facilities for teaching and learning” emerged as the barriers of implementing health education programs in rural communities.
Conclusions. Several executive and communicational problems were identified as the local-level obstacles of implementing health education programs in rural areas. Better understanding on the extensive range of health education barriers in rural areas may be helpful for rural health workers and stakeholders in designing and/or revisiting health education programs in rural communities
