    The assesment of pattern of maxillary canine impaction in the Ardabil city

    Background & Objective: Impacted teeth are one of the most common reasons for visit- ing dentists and maxillofacial surgeons. During clinical and radiographic examinations and evalu- ations, the dentist sometimes realizes that the patient’s problem is due to the impaction of one or more teeth. Therefore, it is necessary for every dentist to make the necessary and correct decision for the treatment of such teeth. One of the best ways to diagnose impacted teeth is first of all the absence of that tooth in the desired location and clinical evaluation of the patient and secondly to check the radiographic view of the desired area. Impacted teeth can be the source of many prob- lems for various reasons, so in most cases, their extraction is recommended. Knowing how to place the impacted tooth and determining its type and other characteristics of the impaction can help the dentist in choosing the appropriate treatment-surgical method and also prevent complications during surgery. Proper and timely diagnosis of impaction as well as determining its position (buc- cal-palatal-intermediate) in the jawbone can reduce damage to adjacent structures and also affect the treatment plan. Because accurate detection of impacted tooth positions is possible with radiog- raphy, the most accurate radiograph to examine the impacted tooth is cbct images. Therefore, due to possible occlusion injuries and the effect of occlusion pattern on the treatment of these teeth, it is important to study the types of impaction patterns. Therefore, this study was presented with the aim of investigating the impaction pattern of maxillary canine teeth in Ardabil with cbct archive. Materials and Methods: In this descriptive cross-sectional study, CBCT images of 239 patients who met the inclusion criteria were evaluated. Due to the lack of statistics, due to the lack of statistics of maxillary impacted canine teeth in Ardabil, the counting method was used for sampling and stereotypes were identified as maxillary impacted canine teeth as the sample size. The obtained data were analyzed in SPSS24 software. Results: Among the impacted canine teeth studied, 63.2% had palatal, 17.5% buccal and 19.3% had intermediate pattern. Also, 11.2% had damage to adjacent structures and 88.8% had no damage to adjacent structures. Among the types of damage to adjacent structures, 46.9% caused root re- sorption of the first premolars, 34.5% caused root canal resorption, and 18.6% had other damage to adjacent structures. Of these, 50.4% had root curvature and 49.6% had no root curvature, of which 12.1% had severe curvature, 38.7% had mild curvature and 49.2% had severe curvature. Also, the average angle of the incised canine to the lateral incisor was 41.7%. 9% of impacted canine teeth had a root resorption of lateral incisors and 9% did not have a root resorption of lateral incisors. Conclusion: Dentists should treat cases such as maxillary latent canine such as: Examine the occlusion pattern, angle to adjacent teeth, damage to adjacent structures, curvature of the incised canine root, and root resorption of adjacent teeth

    Influences of the adolescent exposure to an enriched environment on cognitive function and hippocampal and prefrontal cortex BDNF level in adult male and female rats

    Background and Aim : A growing body of evidence demonstrated that an enriched environment (EE) exposure improves cognitive functions, synaptic plasticity, neurogenesis, and induction of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in multiple brain regions of laboratory animal models. Also, studies on the sex-dependent effects of exposure to EE during adolescence on adult cognitive functions are less. This is important since the beneficial effects of EE may be predominant in the adolescence stage. Therefore, the present study was designed to compare the effects of EE during adolescence (PND21-PND60) on novel object recognition memory and hippocampal and prefrontal cortex BDNF mRNA level in the adult male and female rats. Methods : Assessment of novel object recognition memory has been done by novel object recognition task. The expression of BDNF mRNA level was also evaluated by quantitative RT-PCR. Results : Our findings demonstrated that housing in the EE during adolescence improves novel object recognition memory in adult male rats. Additionally, our results indicated an augmented BDNF level in the hippocampus of adult male and female rats following adolescent EE exposure, meanwhile BDNF mRNA expression up-regulates only in the prefrontal cortex of female animals. Conclusion : BDNF is an important factor that can mediate the beneficial effects of EE and running exercise on cognitive functions.     Adipose‐derived stem cells: An appropriate selection for osteogenic differentiation

    Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are a major component of various forms of tissue engineering. MSCs have self-renewal and multidifferential potential. Osteogenic differentiation of MSCs is an area of attention in bone regeneration. One form of MSCs are adipose-derived stem cells (ASCs), which can be simply harvested and differentiated into several cell lineages, such as chondrocytes, adipocytes, or osteoblasts. Due to special properties, ASCs are frequently used in vitro and in vivo bone regeneration. Identifying factors involved in osteogenic differentiation of ASCs is important for better understanding the mechanism of osteogenic differentiation. Different methods are used to stimulate osteogenesis of ASCs in literature, including common osteogenic media, growth factors, hormones, hypoxia, mechanical and chemical stimuli, genetic modification, and nanotechnology. This review article provides an overview describing the isolation procedure, characterization, properties, current methods for osteogenic differentiation of ASCs, and their basic biological mechanism

    Assessing the Quality of Life in Medical Students in Ardabil University of Medical Sciences

    Introduction: Quality of life (QOL) is an important index in society that need for evaluation in all age groups people especially in medical university students as a people that their physical and mental health is related with community health. This study aims to investigate the quality of life (QOL) of Ardabil University of Medical Sciences. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study that has been conducted on 200 students who selected by random sampling method from Ardabil medical university students. The QOL was measured by WHOQOL-BREF which its validity and Reliability were investigated and approved. This questionnaire include 26 questions in four dimensions (physical, mental, social and environmental health). Collected data we analyzed by statistical test such as t-test for compare the mean of QOL score among demographic data. Results: Of all students, 57% were male and 91.5% were single. Of all students, 56% had desired quality of life. The relationships between QOL and variables such as gender, educational level, marital status and age of students wasn’t significant. The mean difference of four dimension scores among two sexes was statistically significant. The mean of Physical health dimension score was 11.6±2.1, Psychological was 12.3±2.4, Social relationships was 13.1±3.4 and environment was 12.7±3.2. The mean of total score of QOL in all students was 12.4±2.3. Conclusion: Results showed that the QOL of all students were in high level and in four dimension of QOL the female students had significant higher score than male students

    Backgrand and objective: Streptococcus mutans (S. mutans) is recognised as the main oral pathogen which results in dental caries. The ability to form biofilms on tooth surfaces is one of the important virulence factors of Streptococcus mutans. The present study is aimed to investigate the anti-microbial and anti-biofilm effects of silicon dioxide (Sio2) nanoparticles (NPs) and Zno/Zeolite nanocomposites (NCs) against S. mutans gene expressions and biofilm formation. Aim: This study aimed to investigate the antimicrobial and antibiotic effect of Sio2 nanoparticles and Zno / Zeolite nanocomposites against the formation of Streptococcus mutans biofilm by gene expression. Material and methods: Minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC), minimum bactericidal concentrations (MBC), sub-MIC, safranine staining, growth inhibition curves, and MTT assay rates of Sio2 NPs and Zno/Zeolite NCs were applied to assess its anti-microbial on S. mutans biofilm formation. The mRNA expression levels of ftf, gtfB, vicR, and gbpB genes were assessed by real time PCR. Human gingival fibroblast (HGF2PI2) cells were used to evaluate the cytotoxic effects of Sio2 nanoparticles and Zno/Zeolite NCs by MTT assay. Results: Our results showed that Sio2 NPs and Zno/Zeolite NCs were able to inhibit biofilm formation by S. mutans. MTT assay showed that, Sio2 NPs and Zno/Zeolite NCs inhibited 79 % - 95% of biofilm formation, respectively.The same results were also obtained with safranine staining. Moreover, Sio2 NPs and Zno/Zeolite NCs decreased the mRNA levels of ftf, gtfB, vicR, and gbpB. In addition, Sio2 NPs and Zno/Zeolite NCs at the highest dose (32mg/ml) did not have cytotoxicity against HGF2PI2 cells. Conclusion: This method revealed that Sio2 NPs and Zno/Zeolite NCs with the non-cytotoxicity and great potential at sub-MIC to inhibit biofilm formation of the S. mutans could be developed as anti-bacterial agent for clinical use.

    Identification of predictors of self-management behaviors in diabetic patients referring to emergency department of Imam Khomeini hospital, based on Ecological approach-2019

    Background and Aim: Diabetes is considered the most common metabolic disease in the world. Limited studies have recognized predictors of diabetes self-management behaviors with a comprehensive pattern. The current study aimed to determine the self-management behaviors predictors in diabetic patients referred to the emergency department of Imam Khomeini Hospital in Ardabil. This study was done based on the ecological approach in 2019. Method: The current study is descriptive-correlational. A total of 273 patients with type 2 diabetes referred to the emergency department were included in the study. Study data were collected using the “Belief in the effectiveness of treatment”, “Diabetes self-efficacy”, “Social support”, “Situational impact”, “Diabetes distress screening scale”, and “Diabetes self-management” questionnaires and they were analyzed via independent t-test, One-way analysis of variance, Pearson correlation and linear regression analysis in SPSS22. Results: Based on the ecological theory of the studied community, the results disclosed that among the “individual factor”, variables of gender, level of education, duration of diabetes, having a glucometer at home, diabetes ability, personal support and self-efficacy, in the “interpersonal factor” the variables of the main supporter of health, membership in social networks, family and friends support, neighbor and neighborhood support, in “group and organization factor”, the variables of organizations’ support and in “community and policy factor”, the variables of situational influence and the influence of mass media, were the predictors of diabetes self-management behavior. Likewise, among the fourteen predictors, variables of gender, level of education, having a glucometer at home, diabetes capability, individual support for “individual factors” and situational influence of “community and policy” factors were identified as the most important predictors of behaviors self-management of diabetic patients referred to the emergency department. Conclusion: Since the strategies that emphasize one factor to improve patient self-management may not be adequate to achieve a permanent impact on self-management behaviors, via an ecological approach, multilevel interventions can be used to plan for change at each level. Consequently, in health policymaking, education, and intervention, attention to individual factors to empower patients to manage diabetes, and special attention to environmental situations with realistic and culture-specific approaches are needed to disease management. In this way, the workload of internal emergencies is reduced and the health of diabetic patients and the community is guarantee

    Prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors in the population of women covered by health centers in Ardabil

    Background: Cardiovascular diseases are one of the most important health problems and one of the most growing diseases. Today, these diseases are associated with a very high prevalence in both developed and developing countries and are considered as one of the most important causes of death. Identification of these risk factors can be effective in predicting the likelihood of advanced cardiovascular disease and its complications. Knowing the regional prevalence of these risk factors, appropriate measures to prevent the progression of these diseases and early treatment can be put on the agenda. Aim: The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors in the population of women aged 30 to 60 years covered by health centers in Ardabil. Methods and material: A retrospective study of descriptive-analytical type and non-interventional primary epidemiological studies and field study. The statistical population of this study includes women aged 30 to 60 years covered by Ardabil Comprehensive Urban Health Service Centers. In the first stage, health centers in Ardabil were divided into five geographical areas and the population covered by each of the five areas was calculated. In the second stage, the number of samples is allocated as a quota in the regions, and in the third stage, by referring to all health centers in Ardabil, in proportion to the population covered by each center, the population of the share of the allocated sampling area and information from individuals They were registered electronically. Women with one of the conditions of pregnancy, lactation, history of kidney disease, known diabetes under medication, history of hepatitis, history of cardiovascular surgery, history of cancer, were excluded from the research process and continued data collection. Finally, 1006 people entered the study. Data were analyzed by SPSS software and t-test, one-way analysis of variance and Pearson correlation with a significance level of less than 5%. Results: The average activity of individuals per day was 24.42 minutes, the average consumption of fruits was 1.9 units per day, vegetables were 2.1 units per day, meat was 286.65 grams per week. The mean HDL levels were 43.6, LDL 101.28, TG 159.89, Cholesterol 185.99 and FBS 94.62 mg / dL. The mean systolic and diastolic blood pressures of the subjects were 108.14 and 68.26 mm Hg, respectively. The studied models, using the studied variables, can predict 41.8% of changes in systolic blood pressure and 39.6% of changes in diastolic blood pressure. Conclusion: The prevalence of overweight, general obesity and abdominal obesity is high in the female population of Ardabil. Obesity and high triglycerides, high cholesterol, HDL and LDL outside the proper range are the most important factors and risk factors for cardiovascular disease in the population of women in Ardabil, which is necessary in educational programs and health policies and special attention to these factors. The demographic, behavioral, and laboratory variables we studied demonstrated strong predictive power of cardiovascular risk, which can be reduced over time in the population with proper planning to control and reduce modifiable cases

    Scientific Mapping of New Developments in Health Information Technology Based on WoS Articles: 2010-2017

    Purpose: Visualization of the science has a significant role in discovering the latent patterns of scientific fields, especially in interdisciplinary and new fields. This study aimed to identify major research approaches to health information technology (HIT) worldwide with the purpose of scientific mapping of new developments in health information technology based on WoS articles and helping the research and educational activities related to future studies. Methods: Scientometrics was used in this descriptive study. For this purpose, worldwide HIT references were extracted from the WoS database between 2010 and 2017 (5301 articles). Then, articles were analyzed in HistCite 12.03.17. Results: Based on the extracted articles, six primary clusters of HIT were identified. The primary category concerned the cost-benefit of information systems, especially the Electronic Health Record (EHR). Secondary clusters included the following areas: acceptance and failure of information systems and implementation issues; HIT challenges in security and confidentiality along with the impacts on medical ethics; the role of HIT in improving the quality of health services; the interoperability of EHR and the future usability of HIT area such as Telemedicine & Telehealth. Conclusion: Cost and benefit of information systems were the main area of research in the field of health information technology based on WoS articles. This issue has been closely related to the success and failure of information systems and attention to the usability of health information systems

    Study of the Consequences of Vena Cava Filter Inclusion in Thromboembolism Patients In Imam Khomeini Hospital of Ardabil City Between 2016-2017

    Background and Objective: Venous thromboembolism is one of the major causes of global morbidity and mortality and includes two types of disease called deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. There are several methods for treating this disease, one of which is the use of the vena-cava filter the use of this method may be associated with complications. This study examines these complications and their prevalence in patients who have been placed under the vena-cava filter. Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study was performed on 32 patients who referred to Imam Khomeini Hospital of Ardabil from April 2016 to March 2017. After 12 months follow up after introduction of the Vena-cava filter, the patients were contacted and invited to participate in the study. Patients were examined and examined for embolic and DVT, edema, varicose veins, ulcers, bleeding, displacement and fracture, and paraclinical and mortality cases. At the end, all of the patients' questionnaire information was entered into the SPSS v22 statistical program and we analyzed the data. Results: In this study, 32 patients were studied. The age range of patients was between 30 to 85 years and the mean age was 68.7 years. Sexual distribution was the same in patients. Fractures of filter fracture, filtering and bleeding among patients were zero, but 10 patients (28.1%) experienced edema and 7 of them had varicose veins (28.1%). The survival rate was 15 in patients One year after the Vena-cava filter was completed (46.9%). 10 of them had recurrence (25%). Among the clinical symptoms, the frequency of chest pain was higher among patients (8 patients), the second and third common symptoms were cough and tachycardia. Conclusion: In this study, after the introduction of the Vena-cava filter, and during one-year follow-up period, bleeding, displacement and fracture of the filter were not observed in any of the patient

    The effects of Vaccinium Arctostaphylos extract attached to Zinc Oxide Nanoparticles on Multi-drug Resistance Genes (mdr1 and mrp1) expression in gastric cancer cell lines

    Background: Gastric cancer is the fifth most common cancer in the world, which is the third leading cause of death and mortality, and drug resistance in cancer cells is one of the major problems in treated patients. The study of the expression of drug transporters in gastric tumors, indicates a deccrease in the expression of these transporters are associated with drug retention and decreases survival in cancer cells. One of the medicinal plants that have recently been considered by researchers in various fields, including anti-cancer properties, is Vaccinium arcostaphylous. Polyphenolic compounds including flavonoids and anthocyanins are the major biological constituents of Vaccinium arcostaphylous. Studies show that these compounds have anti-cancer effects and prevent cancer cells proliferation. One of the techniques that has recently been used in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases is nanotechnology. Binding of nanoparticles to different compounds has been shown to increase the permeability and effectiveness of these compounds at the cellular level. In this study, for the first time, the binding of zinc oxide nanoparticles to Vaccinium arcostaphylous effect on the expression of multidrug resistance genes (mdr1 and mrp1) in gastric cancer cells of AGS and MKN-45 to be assesed. Aim: evaluation the effect of Zink oxide nanoparticles prepared with vaccinium Arctostaphylous on the expression of multidrug resistance genes (mdr1 and mrp1) in gastric cancer cells AGS and MKN-45. Materials and Methods: AGS and MKN-45 gastric cancer cells were perchashed from Pasteur Institute and cultured in the laboratory in the presence of 5% CO2 and 10% fetal bovine serum. The cytotoxicity of the axtreact and nanoparticles was determined by MTT colorimetric method the treatment was done in Higher and lower IC50 and their RNA was extracted. After cDNA synthesis finally, the expression of drug resistance genes was evaluated by real-time PCR. Results: The expression level of drug resistance genes in gastric cancer cell line treated with zinc oxide nanoparticles prepared with vaccinium Arctostaphylous extract was significantly reduced compared to zinc oxide nanoparticles and alcoholic extract compared to control group. Conclusion: The use of nanoscale materials increases the effectiveness of materials and can affect the expression of drug resistance genes in gastric cancer cells
