Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells and condition media diminish inflammatory adhesion molecules of pulmonary endothelial cells in an ovalbumin-induced asthmatic rat model.
OBJECTIVES:
Although excitements related to stem cell therapeutic outcomes have been highlighted enormously in asthma, the vast majority of works were conducted by researchers in animal models. Elucidating the mechanisms underlying the therapeutic effects of MSCs in asthmatic rats will provide a rational basis for assuring maximal safety of future clinical application of stem cells. In the current study, we sought to investigate the possible paracrine mechanism by which direct injection of MSCs and/or CM attenuate efficiently Th2-mediated inflammation in asthmatic lung tissues with the focus on ICAM-1 and VCAM-1 expression.
METHODS:
Male rats were divided into four experimental groups (n = 6); healthy rats received PBS intratracheally (group C), sensitized rats received PBS intratracheally (group S), sensitized rats received CM intratracheally (group S + CM), and sensitized rats received PBS intratracheally containing 2 × 106 rBMMSCs (group S + MSCs). Two weeks post-transplantation, the expression of interleukin (IL)-5, -12 and INF-γ, ICAM-1 and VCAM-1 were assessed along with pathological injuries and the homing of MSCs into the lung tissues.
RESULTS:
Our results showed CM, and notably rBMMSCs, returned the expression of IL-5, IL-12, INF-γ, ICAM-1, and VCAM-1 (p < 0.001 to p < 0.05) to the normal levels. Based on data, pathological injuries in pulmonary specimens of asthmatic rats were significantly attenuated (p < 0.001 to p < 0.05). Moreover, rBMMSCs had potential to successfully home to an asthmatic niche in cell-administrated rats.
CONCLUSIONS:
Our data noted the potency of CM and especially MSCs in ameliorating pathological changes via intra-tracheal route presumably by targeting ICAM-1 and VCAM-1 in lung tissues in rat asthma model

The most common past medical history in patients was high blood pressure. The most common symptom during the onset of the headache was that all of the patients referred to the acute headache, the majority of patients had headache in the whole head and the least of them was the frontal area headache. 77 patients (77.6%) died. Of these, 42 died at the hospital during the initial hospitalization, and the rest died after surgery. And 32 patients (29.4%) survived. The results showed that 6 cases had no angiographic findings and had the highest positive finding in the Middle Cerebral Artery Angiography (MCA). Follow up of patients for symptoms of the disease at 3 and 6 months after the attack showed that the most common symptom in the first 3 months was the motor symptoms and in the 6 months after surgery was memory problems. The least prevalence of symptoms in the first 3 months was decrease in vision ability and in the 6month after surgery was decrease in vision ability and speech impairment. There is a meaningful relationship between female sex and the mortality of patients. However, there is no significant relationship between CT scan findings and patient mortality
Conclusion: Concerning the most common symptom in patients was headache and most of them had a history of high blood pressure and died during initial hospitalization, patients with the history of high blood pressure who recourse with complaint of initial headache should be under diagnostic experiments quickly
Spatial distribution of sand flies (Diptera: Psychodidae; Larroussius group), the vectors of visceral leishmaniasis in Northwest of Iran
Objective: To determine spatial distribution of sand flies (Diptera: Psychodidae; Larroussius group), the vectors of visceral leishmaniasis in Ardabil province, Northwest of Iran. Methods: Sand flies were collected using sticky traps from the 30 selected points in Ardabil province, during May-November 2017. The MaxEnt model in GIS software was used for modeling. Results: A total of 2 794 specimens of sand flies were collected, of which 33% were Larroussius subgenus sand flies. Phlebotomus kandelakii and Phlebotomus wenyoni were the highest and lowest collected species respectively. Based on the modeling, four areas in the
province were identified with more than 70% probability of the presence of Larroussius group vectors which were at risk of visceral leishmaniasis disease transmission. Conclusions: The distribution of Larroussius subgenus sand flies was observed in all parts of Ardabil. But the
northern parts of the province (Germi and Bilesavar counties) as well as central part (Ardabil and Meshkinshahr counties) were of great importance in terms of the presence of Larroussius subgenus sand flies and the possibility of transmission of the visceral leishmaniasis
Comparison of Mental Health and Self-Esteem in Applicants and Non-Applicants for Female Genital Cosmetic Surgery (FGCS): A Case-Control

There was a significant difference between the two groups in terms of the physical symptoms (P = 0.01) and depression (P = 0.003) subdomains of mental disorder. In addition, the women in the case group had significantly lower self-esteem than those in the control group (P = 0.001).
Conclusions: There is a significant difference in terms of physical symptoms and depression between the two groups. GCS applicant women have lower self-esteem compared to non-applicant women
Comparative evaluation of antimicrobial activity of three types of reinforced zinc oxide eugenol used for pulpotomy in primary teeth
Introduction: One of the major purposes of pediatric dentistry is to maintain primary teeth in anatomical and functional conditions up to their physiological exfoliation and eruption of permanent teeth. Whenever pulp gets involved or exposed to mouth area and microorganisms penetrate in to pulp, primary tooth needs pulp treatment. In the sterile environment, the pulp tissue is able to repair itself and also to create a dentin bridge, while in the presence of bacteria, disease and ultimately death of the pulp is inevitable. The ideal pulpotomy cement should have good physical and biological properties such as sealing of the remaining pulp tissue, being biocompatible and presenting antibacterial activity. The aim of this study was to compare the antibacterial effect of some usual materials used for pulpotomy in primary teeth.
Materials and Methods: In this study, the antibacterial activity of materials used in primary teeth pulpotomy include Zoliran, Sina Zonalin, Kemdent Zonalin, MTA (OrthoMTA) and Cem Cement was evaluated against Streptococcus mutans and Lactobacillus acidophilus. Well diffusion test and disk diffusion test and time kill curve were used for antibacterial activity assay. Also stability of materials antibacterial activity was evaluated. The antibacterial activity in disk diffusion and well diffusion test was measured based on the diameter of the zone of inhibition formed, whereas in time kill curve the optical density of the bacterial suspension was measured.
Results: In Well diffussion test and disk diffussion test all of the materials except Cem Cement show antibacterial activity aggainst Streptococcus mutans and Lactobacillus acidophilus. The largest zone of inhibition formed belongs to zoliran and the least one is MTA (P≤0.05). In method of time kill curve, conclusion was the same pattern. As in a period of time Zoliran, Sina Zonalin, Kemdent Zonalin, MTA and Cem Cement have the greatest effects in both groups of bacteria respectively (P≤0.05).
Conclusion: Reinforced ZOE groups has the greatest potential of inhibition against S.mutans and L.acidophilus by comparison to MTA and Cem Cement. Thus, using of Zoliran, Sina and Kemdent Zonalin cements in pulpotomy of primary teeth can create useful effect on controlling bacterial growth and success in pulpotomy
Evaluation of the Urinary Problems in Children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
Background and Objective: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a psychiatric disorder that affects preschoolers, children, adolescents and adults all over the world, and is characterized by a continuous pattern of neglect or hyperactivity and impulsivity that interferes with the function or growth of a person. The objective of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of urinary disorders in children with ADHD compared with healthy children at the same age.
Methods: In this study, 60 ADHD children aged 5-18 years were selected as case group and 60 healthy children aged 5 to 18 years old as control group. After explanation of the parents of children in both groups, a checklist containing demographic information including age, gender, birth rate, family history of nocturnal or psychiatric disorders and physical problems of the child by parents or patient and parent form of the Canaries questionnaire were completed. Then the patients were evaluated for urinary problems. Finally, the collected data were analyzed statistically.
Results: In the case group, 43 (71.6%) were male and 17 (29.4%) were female. In the control group, 36 (60%) were male and 24 (40%) were female. The mean age of the patients in the case group was 11.2 ± 8.2 years with a range of 9 to 14 years and in the control group was 10.7 ± 1.3 months in the range of 8 to 14 years. In the ADHD group, 21 (35%) person and in the control group, 4 (6.6%) person had an urgency. There was a significant difference between the case and control groups in terms of urgency in urinary excretion. (P=0.002) In the ADHD group, 18 (30%) person and in the control group, 2 (3.3%) person had frequent urination. There was a significant difference between the case and control groups for urinary frequency. (P=0.001)
Conclusion: This study provided important information on the relationship between ADHD and urinary problems. Children with ADHD had not only problems with attention, hyperactivity and impulsivity, but also had delayed urinary control (daily and nightly) and intestines (feces). Children with ADHD should be screened for the prevention and treatment of urinary incontinence and stool
Effect of magnesium sulfate on hemodynamic response to endotracheal intubation and carbon dioxide pneumoperitoneum in laparoscopic cholecystectomy
Abstract: Background: Endotracheal intubation and carbon dioxide pneumoperitoneum in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy changes hemodynamic parameters. According to magnesium effect on the inhibition of catecholamine release and attenuate vasopressin-stimulated vasoconstriction, this study was performed to reduce the hemodynamic effects during tracheal intubation and pneumoperitoneum in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Material and methods: In prospective triple-blind clinical trial, 60 patients 18- 70 years old undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy were randomly assigned to one of two groups: intervention group (30 mg/kg magnesium sulfate) and control group (1.5 mg/kg lidocaine). Heart rate and mean arterial pressure were recorded before laryngoscopy (baseline value), immediately and every minute after intubation until 5 minute and before and 5, 10, 15, 30 min after pneumoperitoneum. Results: Mean arterial pressure was low in magnesium sulfate group than control group throughout the study period and was statistically significant at before insufflation and 5 minute after insufflation (p=0.005). Heart rate in magnesium sulfate group was higher than control group throughout the study period (P>0.05). Conclusion: Using magnesium sulfate 30 mg/kg in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy can attenuate mean arterial pressure change in pneumoperitoneum than lidocaine
Multidrug resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa in Iran: A systematic review and metaanalysis
Background: Multidrug-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa (MDR P. aeruginosa) is known as a serious threat to human health worldwide. Limited information is available concerning the prevalence of MDR P. aeruginosa in Iran. The aim of the present study was to investigate the relative frequency of MDR P. aeruginosa in different parts of Iran. Materials and Methods: Using appropriate keywords and well-known English and Persian database, available data about MDR P. aeruginosa in Iran were retrieved. After applying predefined criteria, relevant studies were selected. Results: By using random-effect models, the pooled incidence of MDR P. aeruginosa was estimated 58% (95% confidence interval [CI]; 0.54–0.61). The highest and lowest prevalence of MDR P. aeruginosa were observed in Tehran (100%) (95% CI; 0.94–1.00) and Zahedan (16%) (95% CI; 0.10–0.24), respectively. The highest resistance rate was against ceftazidime (50%) (95% CI; 0.46–0.54) and amikacin (50%) (95% CI; 0.46–0.54). Conclusion: Our findings are of concern since they demonstrate the high prevalence rate of MDR P. aeruginosa in the majority of Iranian hospitals
Study on the Experiences of Women with Early Marriage Referring to Ardabil Health Centers: A Qualitative Study
Background and Objective: Early marriage means the marriage that couples or one of them have not reached the age of 18 years (17 years and 11 months and thirty days). Considering the significant statistics of early marriage and its consequences, it is necessary to study the various social and cultural dimensions of early marriage, especially with the emphasis on the experience of women's lives. In this study, it was tried to answer the question of what experiences, impressions and feelings of women married to a child.
Methods: The statistical population includes married women who were married earlier than 18 years of age referring to the health centers of Ardabil city. Sample size was reached until the required data was saturated. For interviewing after selecting participants based on the criteria for entering and leaving the research, the required explanations are given to the participants, with the satisfaction of the interview, the time and place of the interview with the participant's opinion, the content of the interview is recorded with the recorder, In case of need to register the events and movements of the participants, a note was taken during the interview.
Results: The range of marriage age was between 14 and 18 years old and the average age of marriage was 16.09 ± 1.87 years. Of the deep interviews with individuals, it seems that most people have married when they did not have the right to vote and were forced to marry. Most of them mentioned that due to the low age they were unable to manage life and they always had problems. They consider their life to be altruistic, and all of them are dissatisfied with their lives, due to the disappearance of their aspirations and lack of education.
Conclusion: Since early and compulsory marriages are more likely to result from family ignorance, old traditions and prejudices, and family poverty and financial problems, so a new revision of the law on the minimum age for marriage and the return of it from 15 years for girls to 18 years of age will be useful. Additionally, the completion of the girls' undergraduate degree and the acquisition of their diplomas and the holding of various classes in family education and life skills during school hours and the need for permanent contact with family counselors and family physicians will reduce the mental and physical problems in families
