    No full text
Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BM‐MSCs) were first cultured under induction of retinoic acid (RA), Sertoli cells conditioned medium and RA + con (conditioned medium) as treatment groups. The presence of Sertoli cells was confirmed by immunocytochemistry of follicle‐stimulating hormone receptor in Sertoli cells and flow cytometry by anti‐Gata4 antibody. Cell viability and morphology of nucleus and cytoplasm of BM‐MSCs were evaluated by MTT test and DAPI staining respectively. The expression of Oct4, Plzf, Scp3, Caspases 8, 9 and 3 genes was evaluated by RT‐PCR. For increasing the accuracy of experiment, the expression of Vasa and SCP3 genes was investigated quantitatively by real‐time PCR after 0, 5, 10, 15 days of culture. The results showed that the number of apoptotic cells increased in RA group. The expression of apoptosis genes (Caspases 3, 8 and 9) was also observed in this group all days of culture. Measurement of Vasa and Scp3 genes by RT‐PCR confirmed the positive effects of retinoic acid on increasing of genes expression. So, in this study, a group with maximum expression of differentiation genes and minimum expression of apoptotic genes was RA + conditioned medium group. DNA fragmentation was not observed in all groups

Background and aim: Kawasaki disease (KD) is an acute febrile, self-limiting, and systemic vasculitis of unknown etiology. MEFV gene has a major role in autoinflammatory disorders and innate immune reactions. Several reports revealed that MEFV gene mutations are associated with systemic vasculitis. The aim of this study was to determine the association between KD and MEFV gene mutations. Methods: The peripheral blood of 30 patients who were diagnosed with KD based on ACC criteria and 224 healthy people as a control group (113 male and 111 female), were collected and the samples screened for the 12 common pathogenic variants according to manufacturer’s instructions. Results: The mean age of patients (13 females and 17 males) was 7.7 years. Ten percent of patients showed a mutation, that was meaningfully (p<0.05%) lower than that of healthy controls (25%). E148Q was shown in two patients and compound heterozygous (E148Q-M680I) was detected in one of them with lack of FMF presentations. No significant and meaningful associations were detected between the MEFV gene variant alleles and KD. Conclusion: Unlike in other types of pediatric vasculitis, this study did not reveal any significant association between the MEFV gene mutations and KD, moreover, because of the lower frequency of mutations in these patients, it seems that this gene has a modifier and/or protective role in KD

Introduction: Tooth decay, multifactorial and infectious oral disease are infectious that is primarily caused by the complex interaction of biofilm (decaying oral flora) with dietary fermentable carbohydrates on the tooth surface over the time. This thesis aimed to investigate the in vitro comparison of the antimicrobial property of fluoride varnishes containing CPP_ACP or without CPP_ACP. Materials and Methods: In this in vitro study, we compared the sensitivity effect of Streptococcus mutans to the varnish of MI Varnish, Centrix Varnish, Voco Varnish and V Varnish. For this purpose, Streptococcus mutans was prepared as lyophilized vials from Iranian Scientific and Industrial Research Center; disk diffusion test and bacterial killing curve were performed to evaluate the antibacterial activity of the materials; at least 3 observations (lethality, halo diameter) were made for each varnish and based on each output and 24 observations (12 varnish based on lethality 2and 12 halo diameter observations) were performed, and comparisons were made between observations within each varnish as well as between varnishes. Also, to study the bacterial lethality of the varnishes, optical absorption at 570 nm was read by ELISA reader (BioTek, Winooski, VS) and was analyzed by intergroup ANOVA and repeated measurement analysis tests with 5% error in Spss software version 18. Results: The results of this study showed that there was no significant difference in diameter of bacterial growth halo and light absorption between varnish MI and Centrix (P> 0.05). Also, no significant difference was observed in diameter of bacterial growth halo and optical absorption between V varnish and Voco varnish (P> 0.05), but significant difference in diameter of bacterial growth halo and optical absorption was observed individually in MI varnish and Centrix varnish with V varnish and Voco varnish (P <0.05). Conclusion: According to the results of this study and previous studies, it seems that fluoride varnish containing CPP-ACP (MI Varnish) and Centrix varnish have stronger antimicrobial activity than CPP-ACP free (V and Voco varnish) fluoride varnis

    No full text
Background and objective : Given the increasing violence in Iranian society, and especially Ardabil, which ranks second in terms of the prevalence of street fighting in the country and the personal and social harms of violence, the high cost to the individual and society, the increase in family damages and divorce, Increasing the number of inmates, homicide and crime in the community, this study aimed to investigate the factors associated with aggressive behavior that were identified and documented in the Ardabil Forensic Center. Methods : In this study, the existing data were obtained from the files registered in Ardabil Forensic Medical Center in 1398. In the first step, based on the objectives of the study and specialists opinion, the data collection table was formulated as a checklist, and in the second step, the information required for each individual, including age, sex, level of socioeconomic, education, psychological and family problems were obtained from existing files in Ardabil Forensic Center. Results: In this study, 68 aggression cases referred to forensic medicine in Ardabil city were studied. Of these, 70.6% (48 cases) were males and 29.4% (20 cases) females. People ranged in age from 17 to 68 years. The mean age of the participants was 35.18 ± 13.14 years. The majority (30.9%) had a diploma degree, the majority(61.8%) were married and the rest (38.2) were single. 55.9% (38 cases) of the employed and the rest (44.1%) were unemployed. Most (76.5%) were urban and the rest were rural. It was also found that poor economic status with 60.3% (41 cases) had the highest frequency, followed by moderate (29.5%) and good (7.4%) with 5.9% (4 cases), respectively. 5.9% (4 cases) had a history of mental illness. 13.2% (9 cases) reported financial problems and 14.7% (10 cases) reported family problems, 4.4% (3 cases) reported death of parents in the last year. 4 cases (5.9%) had a history of anger and violence, and 1 case (1.5%) reported history of suicide. On the subject of cause of aggression 11 cases were unknown. The most common cause of aggression was insulting with 14 cases (24.6%), followed by financial problems with 13 cases (22.8%) and honor issues with 12 cases (21.1%). Conclusion : Considering that in the this study most of the people referring to forensic medicine were young, male and city resident, in the event of serious physical injuries it can cause socioeconomic costs as a result of the loss of active labor force in the community. Given that most of the violence has taken place in urban areas with poor economic status, planning for job creation for young individuals and life skills training for families can reduce stress, reduce aggression, and then reduce violence in the society

With increasing concerns about industrial gas contaminants and the growing demand for durable and sustainable technologies, attentions have been gradually shifted to biological air pollution controls. The ability of Pseudomonas putida PTCC 1694 (bacteria) and Pleurotus ostreatus IRAN 1781C (fungus) to treat contaminated gas stream with toluene and its biological degradation was compared under similar operating conditions. For this purpose, a biofilter on the laboratory scale was designed and constructed and the tests were carried out in two stages. The first stage, bacterial testing, lasted 20 days and the second stage, fungal testing, lasted 16 days. Inlet loading rates (IL) for bacterial and fungal biofilters were 21.62 ± 6.04 and 26.24 ± 7.35 g/m3 h respectively. In general, fungal biofilter showed a higher elimination capacity (EC) than bacterial biofilter (18.1 ± 6.98 vs 13.7 ± 4.7 g/m3 h). However, the pressure drop in the fungal biofilter was higher than the bacterial biofilter (1.26 ± 0.3 vs 1 ± 0.3 mm water), which was probably due to the growth of the mycelium. Fungal biofiltration showed a better performance in the removal of toluene from the air stream. Keywords
