Insight-Out: A phenomenological exploration of the nature and appearance of learning (PhD Dissertation, Aug. 2023)
Learning has typically been conceptualized and operationalized, especially in formal schooling, in objective, psychologistic terms. Subjective qualities of learning have been marginalized or dismissed altogether. As a career educator and someone involved for many years in alternative schooling designs, I provide an exploration of the nature of learning – critiquing how learning is defined by generalizable characteristics and appearances and describing how learning can be immanently and uniquely felt. I begin the study by considering manifestations of learning in my personal growth. This is followed by a literature review of learning frameworks considered in light of my professional educational experiences. The themes uncovered in this impressional account of learning are then interrogated in a study of other autobiographical accounts of learning and a qualitatively designed fieldwork project exploring the nature of learning for six youth engaged in both formal schooling and informal self-directed education. Hermeneutic phenomenology yields essential characteristics of learning, with autobiographical and interview data attesting to six core themes. Learning is: idiosyncratic and personal/ized; aligned with generative, creative and imaginative acts; always about some way of being in the world; enacted methodically and strategically; relationally configured; and individually animating and life-enhancing. I propose new ways for educators to see their students holistically by perceiving their learning arising in fields of subjective, interactive affectivity. Educators can personalize learning through cultivating pedagogical relations and creating environments that maximize individual sense-making. Research results provide critique as well as credence to present attempts to personalize learning in K-12 and post-secondary institutions

THE EFFICACY OF THE ONLINE EDUCATIONAL COMMUNITY
This study is intended to determine the efficacy of the teachers and students involving social, cognitive, and teaching presences to the Senior High School students of Saint Joseph College. This study utilized the descriptive survey design. Calderon (2006), defined descriptive research as a purposive process of gathering, analyzing, classifying, and tabulating data about prevailing conditions, practices, processes, trends, and cause-effect relationships and then making an adequate and accurate interpretation of such data with or without or sometimes minimal aid of statistical methods. The following major findings are: the status of the implementation of the online educational community is at a well-implemented level as rated by the students and the teachers. There is no significant difference between the rating of the teachers and the students on the status of the implementation of the online educational community. It can be concluded that the implementation of the online educational community could not be indicative of the performance of the students. Since there is no significant relationship between the implementation of utilizing online education, online learning can still continue as a learning modality whether there is an ongoing pandemic or not because there might be other factors that affect the performance of the students. The mode of the teaching-learning process could not affect the performance of the students

Transnational, global trades, investments, and travels, amongst other drivers of globalization, helps to reverberate the deadly coronavirus pandemic from Wuhan, China, across the world like whirl fire. In order to contain the infectious spread of the pandemic, and mitigate its negative effects on macro-economic variables, the World Health Organization, (WHO) designed Covid-19 protocols that are being enforced by governments and people of the world. Based on the above account, the study examined the Second wave effect of Covid’19 pandemic on transportation business: Keke-napep and Motorcycle transport systems in Asaba metropolis, Nigeria. The main objective is to empirically determine the real impact of the pandemic on rural land transport business. The study employed structured questionnaire and interview methods to generate data from the 250 respondents selected using the census sampling technique. Out of the 250 sets of questionnaires administered, 235 (94%) were retrieved while 15 (6%) were rejected. The statistical tools used for analyzing data were correlation and multiple regression techniques. Findings were that covid’19 pandemic negatively affected rural land transport business. The study concludes that, the coronavirus pandemic caused a contraction in transport business. It is therefore recommended that, there is a need for government to relax the stringent covid’19 protocols to allow economic activities to resume again. Campaigns on safety and hygiene should be intensified so that the populace will imbibe the culture of general cleanliness and personal hygiene, amongst others
Linguistic Competence of Senior High School Students in Ormoc City
This study is concerned with linguistic competence and relationship between the socio-demographic profile in terms of parents’ education background and assigned household chores. The researcher made questionnaires and essay tests and administered among senior high school students who were randomly chosen as respondents. To analyze and interpret data, mean, standard deviation, T-test, and One-Way Analysis of Variance were utilized. ANOVA was conducted to determine whether there was a significant relationship between the socio-demographic profile and the level of linguistic competency of the senior high school students. Findings revealed that there was no significant relationship between the parents’ educational attainment and linguistic competences. ANOVA was conducted again to determine whether there was a significant relationship between the assigned household chores and the level of linguistic competency of the senior high school students. Similarly, results indicate that linguistic competences do not differ among respondents with different assigned household chores. In addition, T-test was conducted to determine whether there was a significant difference among the level of linguistic competencies of the senior high school students in Ormoc City Regional Sports Academy, but the gathered results revealed that there was no significant difference among linguistic competence level. However, there was a significant difference in the linguistic competence in organization of ideas among senior high school students. Grade 11 students have significantly higher mean in organization of ideas than Grade12 students. Major findings revealed that the respondents were at the basic level under the Common European Framework of References for Languages.
