A Working History of Digital Zoom, Medieval to Modern
[Article draft from 2020: very of its mid-lockdown moment, but unlikely to be revisiting this, so here it is!]
This article examines one of the most familiar elements of digital interfaces: the zoom tool. By tracing the conceptual, technical, and material histories of
zooming from the late Middle Ages to the present day, it demonstrates how historians of the medieval book might turn their attention to the digital tools on
which we increasingly depend not just in our academic work, but in all areas of life. It also considers some of the broader ramifications of looking beneath the screens of our smart devices: the complex and often discontinuous histories of information technologies, the hollowness of powerful corporations’ claims of “innovation” and
“disruption,” the various forms of extractivism on which the digital realm depends, and the modern regimes of worker “flexibility” and “knowledge work.
"Translingual Shakespeare: An Afterword," Shakespeare in Succession: Translation and Time, ed. Michael Saenger and Sergio Costola (Montreal: McGill-Queen's University Press, 2023), 298-307
Literary translations work with, rather than out of, the space between languages. Translations evolve not only across linguistic and cultural borders but also across time. It is notable that Shakespeare’s own play texts feature translational properties that can be amplified in translation. This translingual property makes Shakespeare’s text inherently translational in the dramaturgical and gestural senses. A frequently stated myth is that Shakespearean drama is all about its poetic language, and adaptations in another language would violate the “original.” The history of performance and reception in and beyond the Anglophone world suggests otherwise. Literary translations rely on, and amplify, the translingual property of languages. Translingual echoes occur when semantically linked phrases mean similar but not identical things in more than one language. Even English-language performances engage in translational behaviors, because audiences would find many scenes confusing without seeing the actors performing them. In our times, most audiences encounter Shakespeare in truncated, often translational, forms, such as short video clips, memes, or quotes. This cross-fertilization and mobility are the norms, not the exceptions. Translation studies contribute site-specific epistemologies to our understanding of what Shakespeare means in different locations and in different times

First impressions on using AI powered chatbots, tools and search engines: ChatGPT, Perplexity and other – possibilities and usage problems
In a world that has already stepped into the Age of Imagination, an era that directly follows the Digital Age, the rise of the use of new technologies has led to the emergence of not only augmented and virtual reality and the accelerated development of robotics, but also to a leap in the development of artificial intelligence. Its outlines are clearly visible in the latest model of ChatGPT, a product of the company OpenAI that became available to the public in open access on November 30th, 2022. It is believed that by December 4th, 2023, it already had one million users. There were already over 250 scientific articles on the topic of this model by February 12th, most of them published in the form of preprints on portals such as Academia.edu, ResearchGate, and even Arxiv, and it found its place in eminent magazines such as the Economist and Forbes, among others. The name of this AI bot appeared in thousands of daily newspaper headlines, including in the domestic Serbian daily newspaper Politika (Политика), and continuously appears in everyday reports from various fields that are also published by electronic daily portals. In addition, the news about it gained significant number of followers as the AI itself on the social and business networks such as LinkedIn. Given that this is the beginning of a new era both for numerous sciences as well as for the civilization, this article is divided in three parts. According to said, the first part pays attention to early impressions of the use of this model and its possibilities, the second analysis its application so far and its impacts, while the third part reviews its possible applications in digital humanities, archivists and museology. Additionally, as the first search engines based on the use of this model appeared in the meantime, attention is also drawn to their capabilities. This paper is written based on the material and articles published so far, as well as on testing of this model and its related search engines
The Roots of Band Contests in Britain
Although the 1845 Burton Constable brass band contest has long been regarded as the first significant documented event of its type in Britain, there are several others over the preceding couple of decades that are worthy of mention. In particular a series involving the Totnes Brass Band, and a look at the possible contribution of French concours de musique

Implementing parallel processing for DSSAT
There is a recognized need for implementing parallel computing within simulation models. Recently, there has been renewed interest in improving legacy models and their improvement in terms of hardware usage. Several studies have documented applications of environmental models using server, super- and high-performance computer frameworks. They showed that both the implementation process and the results of such simulation had potential to sharpen and to better understand biophysical processes. Nevertheless, parallelization has received limited attention in the development of the Decision Support System for Agrotechnology Transfer (DSSAT) modeling system. For the past decades, DSSAT development has been largely focused on extending the list of crop models for various crops, development of additional tools and improvement of the existing ones for its operational tasks (e.g., calibration) and better compatibility with different operating systems (OS). We addressed this gap by proposing a non-invasive method to be implemented with DSSAT that allows simulations to be run in parallel on a Windows OS. The simulation benchmark presented here confirms that there is significant decrease in execution time when splitting runs to multithreaded workload
Implantless press fit graft fixation technique at Patella for MPFL reconstruction
Patellofemoral instability is one of the most prevalent knee disorders in adolescents. It is often multifactorial and complex. Often accompanied by insufficiency or tear of MPFL ligament. MPFL is primary soft tissue stabiliser of patella and acts as checkrein of lateral patella dislocation. There have been variations in surgical techniques including different choices of surgical techniques, graft material and fixation methods, despite these there is no conclusive evidence that a particular surgical option is superior to another. Recurrent Patella instability requires individualised surgical planning .
In this article we present a surgical technique which is implantless socket type of press-fit fixation at patella
