Amorphous Doped Indium Tin Oxide Thin‐Films by Atomic Layer Deposition.Insights into Their Structural, Electronic and Device Reliability
Thin semiconducting films of magnesium doped indium‐ and tin oxide are prepared by thermal atomic layer deposition (ALD). The metal oxide films are deposited at 200 °C from the precursors trimethylindium, tetrakis(dimethylamido)tin, bis(ethylcyclopentadienyl)magnesium and water as oxidant. These thin‐films are observed to be amorphous by electron microscopy and X‐ray diffraction. However, they exhibited a near‐range atomic order with correlation lengths of up to 10 Å, as demonstrated by high energy total scattering at grazing incidence employing synchrotron radiation. Even minor alterations in composition reveal a significant impact on the thin‐film transistor (TFT) device parameters, due to magnesium's high oxygen binding capability and its ability to inhibit the formation of oxygen vacancies, resulting in a decrease of free charge carriers in the material. Stability tests indicate a device degradation after storage in ambient conditions due to water adsorption on the surface, which could be reversed by an additional annealing step which qualify the films as robust. This studie demonstrate the possibility of employing minor amounts of high band gap oxides such as MgO to manipulate and control the electric behavior of the active channel layer performance in inorganic TFT devices
A Recognition Tag of Human Origin for Bioorthogonal Generation of Antibody‐Drug Conjugates using Microbial Biotin Ligase
The use of enzymes, such as microbial transglutaminase, lipoate protein ligase A, or sortase A, for the generation of antibody‐drug conjugates has proven to be a powerful tool for the site‐specific payload conjugation to tumor‐specific antibodies. Herein, the extension of this enzymatic toolbox by Pyrococcus horikoshii biotin ligase is reported. To this end, the therapeutic antibody trastuzumab is equipped with p67, the 67 amino acid carboxyl‐terminal domain of human propionyl‐CoA carboxylase α subunit, at the C‐terminus of either the light or heavy chain (Trz‐LC:p67 and Trz‐HC:p67). Upon incubation with PhBL, the azide‐bearing linker desthiobiotin azide is site‐specifically coupled to the p67 domains at the antibody. Subsequent strain‐promoted azide‐alkyne cycloaddition with DBCO‐AF488 and DBCO‐Val‐Cit‐PAB‐MMAE yielded conjugates near to full conversion. In cellular assays, these constructs exhibit single‐digit nanomolar EC50 values in cellular proliferation assays on SK‐BR‐3 and A431 cells, where no significant difference in the performance between the two variants Trz‐LC:p67‐MMAE and Trz‐HC:p67‐MMAE is observed. On high Fc‐γIIIa receptor expressing Jurkat cells, Trz‐HC:p67‐MMAE exhibits higher potency than Trz‐LC:p67‐MMAE, indicating an Fc‐blocking effect of p67 when fused to the light chain

Artificial intelligence for structural glass engineering applications — overview, case studies and future potentials
’Big data’ and the use of ’Artificial Intelligence’ (AI) is currently advancing due to the increasing and even cheaper data collection and processing capabilities. Social and economical change is predicted by numerous company leaders, politicians and researchers. Machine and Deep Learning (ML/DL) are sub-types of AI, which are gaining high interest within the community of data scientists and engineers worldwide. Obviously, this global trend does not stop at structural glass engineering, so that, the first part of the present paper is concerned with introducing the basic theoretical frame of AI and its sub-classes of ML and DL while the specific needs and requirements for the application in a structural engineering context are highlighted. Then this paper explores potential applications of AI for different subjects within the design, verification and monitoring of façades and glass structures. Finally, the current status of research as well as successfully conducted industry projects by the authors are presented. The discussion of specific problems ranges from supervised ML in case of the material parameter identification of polymeric interlayers used in laminated glass or the prediction of cut-edge strength based on the process parameters of a glass cutting machine and prediction of fracture patterns of tempered glass to the application of computer vision DL methods to image classification of the Pummel test and the use of semantic segmentation for the detection of cracks at the cut edge of glass. In the summary and conclusion section, the main findings for the applicability and impact of AI for the presented structural glass research and industry problems are compiled. It can be seen that in many cases AI, data, software and computing resources are already available today to successfully implement AI projects in the glass industry, which is demonstrated by the many current examples mentioned. Future research directories however will need to concentrate on how to introduce further glass-specific theoretical and human expert knowledge in the AI training process on the one hand and on the other hand more pronunciation has to be laid on the thorough digitization of workflows associated with the structural glass problem at hand in order to foster the further use of AI within this domain in both research and industry
Dimensioning of silicone adhesive joints: Eurocode-compliant, mesh-independent approach using the FEM
This paper deals with the application of the semi-probabilistic design concept (level I, DIN EN 1990) to structural silicone adhesives in order to calibrate partial material safety factors for a stretch-based limit state equation. Based on the current legal situation for the application of structural sealants in façades, a new Eurocode-compliant design concept is introduced and compared to existing design codes (ETAG 002). This is followed by some background information on semi-probabilistic reliability modeling and the general framework of the Eurocode for the derivation of partial material safety factors at Level I. Within this paper, a specific partial material safety factor is derived for DOWSIL 993 silicone on the basis of experimental data. The data were then further evaluated under a stretch-based limit state function to obtain a partial material safety factor for that specific limit state function. This safety factor is then extended to the application in finite element calculation programs in such a way that it is possible for the first time to perform mesh-independent static calculations of silicone adhesive joints. This procedure thus allows for great optimization of structural sealant design with potentially high economical as well as sustainability benefits. An example for the static verification of a bonded façade construction by means of finite element calculation shows (i) the application of EC 0 to silicone adhesives and (ii) the transfer of the EC 0 method to the finite element method with the result that mesh-independent ultimate loads can be determined

CARS.jl: Efficient fitting of dual‐pump multi‐species CARS spectra using compressed libraries
In this publication, we demonstrate the extension of our loss‐less library approach previously limited to fitting ro‐vibrational N₂CARS spectra for thermometry purposes to accurate and efficient fitting of dual‐pump CARS spectra with multiple species. The fundamental reasoning behind the compression approach is to make use of finite resolution effects arising from the laser linewidths, which are typically larger than the transitional linewidths. For accurate reconstruction at runtime of the fit, in addition to the squared modulus and real component, also the imaginary component as well as intra‐region species cross terms have to be compressed and tabulated for dual‐pump multi‐species spectra. The resulting libraries do not require to tabulate combinations of mole fractions, leading to a near linear growth of the library with respect to the number of species. The accuracy and computational efficiency of the method is benchmarked using a reference implementation provided alongside this publication. Library generation times, mainly depending on the underlying spectral model, are typically in the order of seconds to a few minutes. The simulation of a single dual‐pump spectrum containing three species is sped up by a factor of >5000 without significantly affecting the accuracy of reconstruction. In a simulated experiment with Stokes‐noise imposed data, the time required to it temperature, mole fraction of three resonant species and wavenumber shift on a single spectrum required ≈90 ms
