La Filosofia dell’azione e della libertà di Aldo Capitini: con un carteggio inedito con Augusto Del Noce
The research project is based upon the reconstruction of Aldo Capitini’s philosophical and political work with a specific consideration for the theoretical space where connections between ethics and politics, individual and society, ontology and existence intersect, with also reference to Augusto del Noce thought.
The work is composed of two sections. The first one examines Capitini’s thought categories which enable to define his philosophical and political proposal as philosophy of action and communication. The second section concerns Augusto del Noce ethical and political thought and, in particular, the unpublished epistolary with Aldo Capitini and the elements of contiguity and separation between the two intellectuals.
The epistolary consists of eighteen letters from Augusto del Noce to Aldo Capitini (1948-1966) and it discloses the hardships, the moment of crisis, of intellectual and moral revolution at the time of their friendship. The epistolary reveals not only the remarkable significance of the debated topics in order to retrace the relationship between the two intellectuals, but also a way to interpret their thought as a fundamental bequest to the ethical and political culture of our time.
The theoretical crux of their ethical and political thought is to be found in the importance they ascribe to the practical act and enables to include Del Noce and Capitini among the most important philosophers of Italian twentieth century who considered the fulfilment of freedom the aim and continuous power of individual active conscience
Organic management and productions of quality: influence of growing management on nutraceutical compounds and mineral profile in artichoke cv “Spinoso Sardo”
Recent years have seen a considerable growth of organic food marker. This phenomena is caused by great awareness of consumers about food safety and health.
However, several studies have shown different results on organic management, especially as regard the nutritional component (phytochemicals and minerals). The globe artichoke, rich of minerals and polyphenols, has been analysed for the high nutritional value. A large number of research showed that there were considerable variation on minerals and polyphenols according to different management, environmental and biological factors.
The overall objective of this study was to investigate the effects of different crop management on polyphenols profile and mineral component in globe artichoke.
The experiment was carried out in an experimental field for ten years under organic management, to evaluate the applicability of this management in the mid-long term in this crop.
In the Chapter 1 the variation of concentration of major polyphenols has been investigated in relation to different managements, during two growing seasons. In the second one the clones of “Spinoso sardo” were introduced to evaluate the genotype influence.
In the Chapter 2 reports the results obtained to quantification of mineral content during two growing seasons to evaluate the effects of different management and environmental condition to uptake of macro e micro minerals. In the second years of trials has been investigated the effect of genotype
Perspectivas de género en la traducción de la obra de las mujeres poetas de las Vanguardias españolas
The main aim of this research is to provide an analysis of the Italian translation of the poetry of a group of female authors of the Spanish Avant-garde movements, combining the theory of poetic translation with gender studies in translation. The translated poems that I analyze in this thesis are my own translations of some of Concha Méndez's, Ernestina de Champourcin's, Josefina de la Torre's, Rosa Chacel's, Cristina de Arteaga's and Lucía Sánchez Saornil’s works.
The stated goal is to find a middle way between the radical strategies outlined by the Canadian feminist movement during the Eighties (cf. Diaz- Diocaretz 1985, Chamberlain 1988, 1998 , 1990 Godard, de Lotbiniere-Harwood 1991, Von Flotow 1991,1997, Simons 1996), and the translation techniques that are required to recreate the features of a poem without betraying the style and the aesthetics of the author (cf. Holmes 1969, 1978, Lefevere techniques 1975, Popovic 1976 Beaugrande 1978, Etkind 1982, Raffel 1988). My translation practice demonstrates that in order to translate in the feminine it is necessary to take a step further and introduce other important features that contribute to distinguish female discourse. Moreover, I will analyse the perspectives opened by the great feminist challenge in translation, and on the role of literature and translation in the rise of a new sensitivity in the female question
Structure, organization and dynamics of a Sardinian sand dune plant community
Coastal sand dunes have attracted the attention of plant ecologists for over a century, but have largely relied on correlations to explain striking dune plant community organization. We experimentally examined longstanding hypotheses that sand binding, interspecific interactions, abiotic factors and seedling recruitment are drivers of sand dune plant community structure in Sardinia, Italy. Removing foundation species from the fore, middle and back dune over 3 years led to erosion and habitat loss on the fore dune and limited plant recovery that was enhanced with dune elevation. Reciprocal species removals in all zones suggested that interspecific competition is common, but that dominance is transient, particularly due to sand burial disturbance in the middle dune and high summer temperatures in the back dune. A fully factorial 2-year physical factor manipulation of water, nutrient availability and substrate stability revealed no significant proximate response to these abiotic factors in any dune zone. In the fore and middle dune, plant seeds are trapped under adult plants during seed germination, and seedling survivorship and growth generally increase with dune height in spite of increased herbivory in the back dune. Sand and seed erosion lead to limited seed recruitment on the fore dune while high summer temperatures and allelopathy lead to competitive dominance of woody plants in the back dune. Our results suggest that Sardinian sand dune plant communities are hierarchically organized, structured by sand binding foundation species on the fore dune, sand burial in the middle dune and increasingly successful seedling recruitment, growth, competitive dominance and allelopathy in the back dune
Il Problema della responsabilità per danni a terzi in superficie
The final thesis of my PhD journey concerns an issue that is part of the Air Law. In particular, it addresses the issue of liability for damage to third parties on the ground surface, caused by aircraft flights. After framing the institute, the analysis begins with examining the sources. These are mainly formed by uniform regulations, and the resulting adjustment to the same by the internal regulations. It proceeds with the deepening of aspects characterizing the institution. Which involves, the nature and the conditions of the obligation for compensation, the qualification of the harmful event, the type of liability where the damage determines the start with the related assumptions exclusion and compulsory insurance expected in relation to the institute, with the related method of determination and limitation. The first part of the paper concludes with the examination of the draft revision of the uniform rules. These are inspired by the need to balance the refund of the possible damage with the needs of civil aviation security and stability, also considering increase by specific episodes that can cause such damage.
In order to better clarify the characteristics of the institution object of analysis, the second part of the work raises the relative discipline in connection with a number of other issues, in respect of which we highlight the relative similarities and differences. It is, in principle the responsibility regarding the noise determined by the flight of aircraft, the responsibility for collision of aircraft, the peculiar rules established in relation to the equipment used for pleasure or sports flight, military aircrafts and the liability arising from damage caused by space objects
Caratterizzazione molecolare di tratti quantitativi di potenziale interesse biomedico nella popolazione sarda - studio SardiNIA
The thesis describes in three examples of GWAS conducted in the contest of the SardiNIA study using a Whole Genome Sequenced based GWAS with the purpose of explaining the missing heritability for these traits and with the aim to characterize quantitative traits of potential biomedical interest in the Sardinian population. In the study 6,807 individuals from Ogliastra region were recruited, phenotyped. Subsequently all individuals were genotyped with four Illumina arrays to create a scaffold of 890,542 variants to imput 17 million variants from a reference panel of 2,210 unrelated individuals from a low pass sequencing data, to the entire cohort using haplotype blocks shared by all Sardinian individuals.
GWAS analysis revealed 2 new loci associated with LDL and total cholesterol in the HBB, LDLR genes and one variant in APOA5 gene for triglycerides. Among haematologic traits for hemoglobin A1, A2 and F levels we found: 5 association signals mapping at new loci MPHOSPH9, PLTP-PCIF1, FOG1, NFIX and CCND3. Therefore 10 new variants and 4 independent signals were detected during fine mapping of the known loci. For anthropometric traits we report two signals with a strong effect on stature located in GHR and KCNQ1 genes.
Conclusions: The results indicate a sequencing-based GWAS as a robust methodology to investigate the missing heritability leading to complex trait dissection.
Many of variants we describe are Sardinian specific and of potential pharmaceutical interest
Maturazione dei microRNA: effetto sulla regolazione dell'espressione genica nell'epatocancerogenesi umana
Aim: microRNAs (miRNAs),short (19-25 nt),endogenus, non-coding, single-stranded RNA molecules, are able to regulate gene expression at post-transcriptional level by binding to 3’-UTR or 5’-UTR or coding region. miRNAs are usually transcribed, in nucleus, by RNA polymerase II (and some by RNA polymerase III) as long primary immature miRNAs (pri-miRNAs). The pri-miRNAs are cleaved in short transcripts, the pre-miRNA (100 bp),by a complex called Microprocessor formed by Drosha and DGCR8. The pre-miRNAs (70-110 nt) are therefore exported into the cytoplasm by Exportin-5,where they are further processed by Dicer in mature miRNA (20-25 nt). Only single strand of the mature miRNA is incorporated into the RISC complex involved in gene silencing. miRNAs play an important role in the proliferation, differentiation, migration, apoptosis, control of the cell cycle and cell metabolisms through modulating mRNA stability.
miRNAs may play a role in human diseases, for example tumors as hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). It’s important therefore to study the expression of genes involved in miRNA synthesis and maturation (Drosha,DGCR8,Exportin-5 and Dicer).
Methods: We use normal and cancer liver tissues from patients who have given their consensus. We analyzed histo-patologically liver cancer samples from HCC tissues and in the corresponding adjacent noncancerous liver tissues. We performed real time qRT-PCR to evaluate and quantify the expression of Drosha, DGCR8, Exportin-5 and Dicer genes.
Results: We found that Drosha,DGCR8, exportin-5 and Dicer were up-regulated in all neoplastic tissue samples tested, compared to normal value.
Conclusions: Our results suggest that Drosha, DGCR8, Exportin-5 and Dicer could be involved directly or indirectly in the development of HCC or in its progression
Recenti avanzamenti nella patofisiologia e diagnostica nella malattia di Fabry
Aim
Fabry disease (FD) is a rare lysosomal storage disorder caused by deficiency of galactosidaseA that leads to cellular accumulation of glycosphingolipids, causing diffuse vascular damage.
Recent scientific reports, including those of our group, led to a better knowledge both of pathophysiology and of biochemical diagnostic tools useful for early diagnosis of FD.
We studied possible changes in motor cortex excitability in FD patients, using transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS).
Moreover, we evaluated if urinary glycosaminoglycan excretion could represent a marker for monitoring progressive kidney impairment in FD.
Methods
We measured the electrical threshold in the motor cortical representation of the right first dorsal interosseous, in 11 FD patients and 11 controls, through TMS protocols.
In the biochemical study, quali-quantitative and structural analyses of plasma/urine from 24 FD patients and 43 control subjects were conducted.
Results
FD patients showed a significant increase of steepness in TMS protocols, which is indicative for an electrophysiological imbalance involving the glutamatergic excitatory circuits.
Levels of urine bikunin resulted significantly higher in patients with renal involvement and were higher since early occurrence of renal impairment.
Conclusions
FD have to be diagnosed in early stage of his course, before occurrence of irreversible structural and vascular damage in many vital organs. New diagnostic tools useful for early diagnosis are needed
Web 2.0 e Sistema Sanitario Italiano: analisi sull'utilizzo dei social media all'interno delle Aziende Sanitarie Locali
This project work wants to underline the current problems and the challenging process of the adoption of Social Media by Italian Local Health Authorities (ASL) and to highlight how Social Network Sites are modifying health communication and relations with citizens in Italy. In my work, after careful reading of the literature about the use of Social Media for health organizations, I carried out a research project to monitor the presence of Social Media (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube) directly managed by Italian health structures. In this research I have adopted the mix method technique, matching quantitative studies with qualitative studies, such as adoption rate, post content analysis and telephone interviews with ASL communication managers. In a first step, I mapped the presence of Local Health Authorities on the most popular Social Media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube); in a second step, I carry out a content analysis to describe the prevalent kinds of messages published in the official Facebook timelines; in the third step, I interviewed healthcare directors and communications managers for the purpose to investigate issues, fears, purposes, aims and outcomes about the use of these platforms. I found a great heterogeneity in the use of these media and the co-existence of several best practices in the use of Social Network Site for healthcare in some regions of the country
Porto Torres - <i>Colonia Iulia Turris Libisonis</i>. La Città archeologica. Dalla documentazione di scavo agli strumenti per la tutela e la pianificazione
The research project, developed on the basis of a personal long-standing experience of archaeological investigation in the urban context of Porto Torres, in the north-west Sardinia, has opened new knowledge about the history and topographic changes of the city and allowed to test digital tools for the protection of cultural heritage and urban planning through the ex novo study, reinterpretation, standardization, communication and sharing of archaeological data.
Outcome of the evolution of the urban body began with the founding of the Colonia Iulia Turris Libisonis after the middle of the first century. B.C., in a territory already deeply marked by the indigenous settlement, the contemporary city of Porto Torres is one of the most complex archaeological context and one of the areas of most intense experimentation of urban archeology in Sardinia. The Archaeological Information System of Porto Torres led to the digitalization of archival and published data , and the transition from symbolic representation to the floor plan of the archaeological remains.
The experimentation of the Italian Archeological Information System (SITAN) parameters within the project 'Creation and activation of Sardinian pole of national IT network for the collective construction of WEB GIS of the archaeological Italian heritage ' represented a further step to a real and structured collaboration between all entities engaged in the research and protection of archaeological heritag
