FOR ONTOLOGY CONSTRUCTION

Ontologies are domain-rich conceptualizations that are both human and machine-
readable. Construction of ontologies is a challenging cognitive task with mandatory 
human involvement. Though, strict engineering procedures are followed, yet if the 
cognitive perspectives are ignored, the resulting ontology could be erroneous. 
Although, there are numerous collaborative ontology construction methodologies 
and frameworks, practically all of them focus solely on the engineering segment, 
ignoring the cognitive significance. A comprehensive literature study conducted 
found a slew of flaws in existing collaborative ontology construction methodologies 
and frameworks. Significant challenges include ambiguous instructions, complex 
tool assistance, problematic workflows, and a schism between ontologists and 
domain specialists. Consequently, this research attempted to resolve this problem by 
introducing “Collaborativity” framework. Designed “Collaborativity” framework 
comprises of a modular architecture with strictly defined workflows governed by 
holistically specified explicit instructions. Additionally, the framework is equipped 
with multi-modal tool support to facilitate the roles of domain specialists and 
ontologists. Verbalized user guide, special visualization canvas, Natural Language 
Interrogation feature, segmentation canvas for empirical evaluation assistance are the 
features packaged inside the “Collaborativity” framework. Three separate case study 
trials have put the "Collaborativity" framework to the test across three different 
domains. Namely, criminal law, COVID-19 and aquaculture are those domains.

Operational efficacy of the framework has been tested by employing triangulation 
strategies. The consolidated tests performed has yielded overall 83% of stakeholder

Ontologi ialah konsep domain yang boleh dibaca oleh manusia dan mesin. 
Pembinaan ontologi adalah tugas kognitif yang mencabar dengan penglibatan 
manusia yang mandatori Walaupun, prosedur kejuruteraan yang ketat dipatuhi, 
namun jika perspektif kognitif diabaikan, ontologi yang terhasil boleh menjadi salah. 
Walaupun, terdapat banyak metodologi dan rangka kerja pembinaan ontologi 
kolaboratif, boleh dikatakan kesemuanya tertumpu semata-mata pada segmen 
kejuruteraan, mengabaikan kepentingan kognitif. Kajian literatur yang komprehensif 
telah dijalankan mendapati banyak kelemahan dalam metodologi dan rangka kerja 
pembinaan ontologi kolaboratif sedia ada. Antara cabaran yang signifikan termasuk 
arahan yang tidak jelas, bantuan alat yang kompleks, aliran kerja yang bermasalah 
dan wujudnya perbezaan pendapat antara pakar ontologi dan pakar domain. Oleh 
yang demikian, penyelidikan ini cuba menyelesaikan masalah ini dengan 
memperkenalkan rangka kerja "Kolaboratif”. Rangka kerja "Kerjasama" yang direka 
bentuk terdiri daripada seni bina modular dengan aliran kerja yang ditetapkan dengan 
dikawal oleh arahan eksplisit yang dinyatakan secara holistik. Selain itu, rangka 
kerja ini dilengkapi dengan sokongan alat berbilang-modal untuk memudahkan 
peranan pakar domain dan pakar ontologi saling bekerjasama. Panduan pengguna 
secara lisan, kanvas visualisasi khas, ciri Soal-siasat Bahasa Semulajadi, kanvas 
segmentasi untuk bantuan penilaian empirikal ialah ciri-ciri yang dipakejkan dalam 
rangka kerja "Kerjasama". Tiga percubaan kajian kes yang berasingan telah menguji 
rangka kerja "Kerjasama" merentas tiga domain berbeza iaitu domain undang-

undang jenayah, COVID-19 dan akuakultur. Keberkesanan operasi rangka kerja 
telah diuji dengan menggunakan strategi triangulasi. Ujian gabungan yang dilakukan 
telah menghasilkan keseluruhan 83% penerimaan pihak berkepentingan untuk
