Impacto de la Terapia de Alto Flujo de Oxígeno (TAFO) en un hospital pediátrico de la provincia de Buenos Aires
Introducción: Las infecciones respiratorias agudas bajas (IRAB), representan la causa más frecuente de consulta e internación en los meses de invierno. La insuficiencia respiratoria aguda es la complicación que motiva la internación de los pacientes y la necesidad de Unidad Terapia Intensiva (UTI).
El objetivo del trabajo fue describir los resultados de la implementación de la Terapia de Alto Flujo (TAFO) en pacientes con IRAB grave internados en Terapia Intermedia.
Métodos: Estudio prospectivo y descriptivo que incluyó pacientes de 1 a 36 meses internados en Terapia Intermedia en el Hospital Sor María Ludovica de la ciudad de La Plata, desde junio de 2018 a septiembre de 2019. Se ingresaron a TAFO pacientes sin respuesta al tratamiento con oxígeno a bajo flujo. El ingreso a UTI se consideró fracaso de la TAFO.
Resultados: De 760 pacientes internados con IRAB, 91(11,9%) ingresaron a TAFO de los cuales 59 (64,8 %) tuvieron respuesta favorable con disminución de la frecuencia respiratoria (FR), frecuencia cardiaca (FC) y mejoría de la mecánica respiratoria; el resto (35,2%) pasó a UTI por fracaso terapéutico. Presentaron complicaciones a la TAFO el 5,5% de los pacientes.
Conclusión: La TAFO fue una terapéutica segura, de fácil utilización que, a través de un aporte de oxígeno conocido, permitió la corrección de la hipoxemia, logrando la disminución de la FR, FC y mejoría de la mecánica respiratoria, dándole mayor comodidad al paciente durante su enfermedad.Introduction: Respiratory infections remain the major cause of outpatient consultation and hospital admissions during the winter season. Lower respiratory illness may cause severe acute respiratory insufficiency and hypoxemic respiratory failure, thus determining the need for hospitalization and eventual intensive care (ICU).
The purpose of this paper is to describe the results of High Flow Oxygen Therapy (HFOT) implementation for patients with acute lower respiratory infections (ALRI) admitted to intermediate therapy unit.
Methods: Prospective and descriptive study which included patients from age 1 to 36 months, hospitalized at intermediate therapy care unit at “Sor María Ludovica”, Hospital, in La Plata, from June, 2018 to September, 2019. Patients who did not show any improvement to low flow oxygen therapy were the subjects of this study. Further submission to ICU was considered as HFOT failure.
Results: From 760 patients hospitalized with ALRI, 91 (11.9%) were admitted to TAFO. Fifty nine, (64.8%) had a favorable response with decreased respiratory and heart frequency rate, and an improvement of the work of breathing. The rest (35.1%) went to ICU due to therapeutic failure. Five point five percent of patients presented complications to TAFO.
Conclusion: HFOT was a safe, easy to implement therapy treatment which improved the hypoxemic respiratory failure. This therapy reduced the respiratory and heart rate, and yielded a better and lower respiratory work, making patients more comfortable during illness

El diseño de productos en la economía de servicios: estudio de la operación de diseño de sistemas de gestión integral de residuos sólidos en Ecuador 2017-2020
En el presente trabajo de investigación se estudia la relación entre la operación de diseño de productos y la economía de la funcionalidad o economía de servicios. Para ello la investigación se enfoca en el diseño de sistemas de gestión integral de residuos sólidos como objeto de estudio de un sistema de prestación de servicios que está conformado a su vez por varios subsistemas. Es un asunto que concierne al diseño el que un producto se configure de una manera determinada. La operación de diseño de estos sistemas se efectúa con énfasis distinto según sea la especialidad del diseño desde la cual se aborde. El diseño industrial se concentra en bienes de consumo que pueden considerarse bienes puros o sistemas producto-servicio que tienden al extremo del producto en el continuum del servicio. El diseño de la experiencia por su parte se ha enfocado en las interfaces mediante las cuales el usuario interactúa con los objetos más específicamente se ha centrado en las interfaces multimedia de carácter digital. Por otra parte, el diseño de servicios como actividad nacida dentro del campo de la administración se ha concentrado en la estrategia y en los procesos de prestación de servicios.This research paper studies the relationship between product design and the economics of functionality, or the economics of services. To this end, the research focuses on the design of integrated solid waste management systems as the object of study within a service delivery system comprised of several subsystems. It is a matter of design that a product is configured in a specific way. The design process for these systems is carried out with different emphasis depending on the design specialty from which it is approached. Industrial design concentrates on consumer goods, which can be considered pure goods or product-service systems that tend toward the product end of the service continuum. Experience design, on the other hand, has focused on the interfaces through which the user interacts with objects; more specifically, it has centered on digital multimedia interfaces. Furthermore, service design, as an activity originating within the field of management, has concentrated on the strategy and processes of service delivery.Doctor en Diseñ

Water Footprint and Virtual Water Trade of Maize in the Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina
Agriculture is the largest fresh water consuming sector, and maize is the most produced and consumed crop worldwide. The water footprint (WF) methodology quantifies and evaluates the water volumes consumed and polluted by a given crop, as well as its impacts. In this work, we quantified for the first time the green WF (soil water from precipitation that is evapotranspired) and the green virtual water exports of maize from Buenos Aires province, Argentina, during 2016–2017, due to the relevance of this region in the world maize trade. Furthermore, at local level, we quantified the green, blue (evapotranspired irrigation), and grey (volume of water needed to assimilate a pollution load) WF of maize in a pilot basin. The green WF of maize in the province of Buenos Aires ranged between 170 and 730m3/ton, with the highest values in the south following a pattern of yields. The contribution of this province in terms of green virtual water to the international maize trade reached 2213 hm3/year, allowing some water-scarce nations to ensure water and water-dependent food security and avoid further environmental impacts related to water. At the Napaleofú basin scale, the total WF of rainfed maize was 358 m3/ton (89% green and 11% grey) and 388 m3/ton (58% green, 25% blue, and 17% grey) for the irrigated crop, showing that there is not only a green WF behind the exported maize, but also a Nitrogen-related grey WF
First record of Heteropsylla tenuata from Argentina (Hemiptera: Psyllidae), and additional notes on other psyllid species
The Psyllidae family is the most diverse within Psylloidea, with more than 1,300 species worldwide. Some psyllid species are important pests mainly of fruit trees, forest and ornamental plants. Despite being an economically relevant group, there are few studies on its biology, geographic distribution, natural enemies or host plant associations for many Argentinean psyllid species. This work records one species from Argentina for the first time, extends the distribution of another two psyllid species and provides information on host plants.La familia Psyllidae es la más diversa dentro de Psylloidea, con más de 1.300 especies de distribución cosmopolita. Muchas especies de psílidos son importantes plagas, principalmente de árboles frutales, forestales y plantas ornamentales. A pesar de ser un grupo económicamente relevante, existen pocos estudios sobre su biología, distribución geográfica, enemigos naturales o asociaciones de plantas huésped para muchas especies de psílidos argentinos. En este trabajo registramos por primera vez una especie en Argentina, ampliamos la distribución de otras dos especies de psílidos, y brindamos información sobre plantas huésped
Supporting multi-criteria decision-making across websites: the Logikós approach
Online customers frequently conduct activities that involve multi- criteria decision-making. They analyze and compare alternatives considering a set of shared characteristics. Websites present the information of products without special support for these activities. Moreover, the products of interest for the customer are frequently scattered across various shops, with no support to collect and compare them in a consistent and customized manner. We argue that multi-criteria decision-making methods (such as Analytic Hierarchy Pro- cess) can be e ectively o ered to online customers. In this article, we present an approach and supporting tools to enable multi-criteria decision-making on any website and across websites. They are based on web-augmentation to extract information items from websites, and the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to model multi-criteria decisions. The approach and tools were experimentally evaluated with end-users in two di erent countries. An illustrative scenario provides insight into the application of the approach and the role of the sup- porting tools. Evaluation showed that users appreciate creating AHP models speci c to their needs, and trust the decisions they make using these models.
Participants were reluctant to trust reusable decision pro les (i.e., AHP mod- els created by other users). The numerous pairwise comparisons required by AHP in the presence of multiple criteria and alternatives, was reported as a drawback. However, participants indicated that the proposed smart-ranking functionality represented a good mechanism to cope with it
Influence of climate on soil and wine bacterial diversity on a vineyard in a non-traditional wine region in Argentina wine region
Argentina is the fifth world-wide wine producer, with an area of emerging importance in the Southwest of Buenos Aires Province, where climatic conditions are rather challenging. We studied the variations in soil and wine bacterial diversity through three consecutive vintages, and how climatic conditions affected said diversity. During the years of our study there were two harsh climatic events, a prolonged drought that extended over two vegetative periods, and an unseasonable spring frost in 2017. We found that the bacterial diversity reacted to these climatic events, given that there was a shift in the taxa exclusive to soil and wine, and shared by both, through time. Our results show a core of microorganisms in soil as well as in wine, belonging to different phyla that are conserved across the vintage years. A trend to an enrichment in Actinobacteria was detected in soil samples, whereas a high relative abundance of the Acetobacteraceae family and a scarcity of Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB) were detected in the wine samples.
We believe our results contribute to a better understanding of the impact of climatic conditions on the soil and wine microbiota, and can provide vintners with valuable knowledge for improving their wine production
Hormigones de retracción compensada reforzados con fibras en pavimentos y pisos industriales
El presente artículo recopila experiencias sobre los Hormigones de Retracción Compensada Reforzados con Fibras (HRCRF) en pavimentos y pisos industriales. Entre los tipos de hormigones empleados, se profundizó en los Hormigones de Retracción Compensada (HRC) y los Hormigones Reforzados con Fibras (HRF), ambos hormigones por separado aportan soluciones a problemas comunes deestas aplicaciones, como: el espaciamiento de juntas, fisuración y permeabilidad, entre otros, que finalmente afectan la vida en servicio y durabilidad de los mismos. Posteriormente, se exponen los resultados más importantes de los estudios en cuanto al uso de HRC y HRF por separado, así como también, investigaciones y aplicaciones de su uso combinado. En base a los hallazgos y a la literatura revisada, como parte final de este artículo, se plantea la necesidad de realizar un estudio experimental, con el fin de comprender el rol que ejerce la adición de fibras en el comportamiento del HRC y de esta manera, contribuir con el avance en el uso de HRCRF en pavimetos y pisos industriales.This article compiles experiences on Fiber Reinforced Shrinkage Compensating Concrete (FRSCC) in industrial pavements and floors. Among the types of concrete used, more emphasis were made in Shrinkage Compensating Concrete (SCC) and Fiber Reinforced Concrete (FRC), both concretes separately provide solutions to common problems in these applications, such as: joint spacing, cracking and permeability, among others, which affect their life service and durability. Finally, the most important results of the studies regarding the use of SSC and FRC separately, as well as investigations and applications of their combined use, are presented. Based on the findings and literature reviewed, as a final part of this article, the need to carry out an experimental study is proposed, in order to understand the role of fiber addition in the behavior of SCC, contributing to the progress in the use of FRSCC in industrial pavements and floors
Uso de celulosa microfibrilada en mezclas cementíceas
La implementación de nanomateriales generados a partir de celulosa resulta de interés en el campo de los materiales cementiceos, tanto por sus propiedades físicas como por ser un material abundante y renovable. Las microfibras de celulosa producidas mediante refinamiento mecánico poseen una alta relación de esbeltez, una resistencia mecánica considerable y una importante capacidad de retener agua.
En este trabajo se evalúa la influencia de celulosa microfibrilada (CMF) en las propiedades de mezclas cementíceas. Se elaboraron pastas de cemento con contenidos variables de CMF (0,1; 0,2 y 0,3 % en peso del cemento) a fin de determinar su influencia sobre la demanda de agua y el tiempo de fraguado.
Además, se elaboraron morteros con los mismos contenidos de CMF, evaluándose en este caso extendido y contenido de aire en estado fresco, y resistencia a compresión y a flexión en estado endurecido. El uso de CMF redujo la fluidez e incrementó el tiempo de fraguado. Las resistencias a compresión y flexión resultaron afectadas con el uso de la CMF, aunque si se conserva la relación agua-cemento original, la adición de celulosa microfibrilada podría mejorar las propiedades resistentes de las mezclas cementiceas.The implementation of nanomaterials generated from cellulose is of interest in the cementitious composites field, because of its physical properties as well as to be an abundant and renewable material. Cellulose microfibers produced by mechanical refinement have a high slenderness ratio, a substantial mechanical strength and an important ability to retain water. In this work, the influence of a microfibrillated cellulose (MFC) in the properties of cementitious composites is evaluated. Cement pastes with different MFC content (0.1%, 0.2%, and 0.3% by cement weight) were made in order to determine its influence on water demand and setting time. Moreover, mortars with the same MFC content were made and extended ratio and air content in the fresh state, and compressive and flexural strengths in hardened state were assessed. Using MFC reduced the fluidity and increased the setting time. The compressive and flexural strengths wer affected by the use of MFC, although maintaining the original water/cement ratio, the addition of MFC would improve strength properties of cementitious composites
