No full textPolygonal barrel with engraved breech, and fluted throughout its length. Lock chased and engraved with the greatest delicacy. The cock is wrought in the shape of a sea-horse ridden by a nude female. A second naked female reclines on the pan cover. A terminal figure of Cupid forms the bridle of the pan. Lock-plate chased with a mascaron. The trigger-guard is likewise finely chased. Stock and butt inlaid with copper and silver filigree. From the Spitzer Collection. No full textGlobose crown with very low continuous twin combs, embossed and cabled. All the parts have a border delicately engraved with scroll-work and edged with narrow cabled edges. Wide, flat umbril, movable like the visor of a close helmet, the pivots ornamented with rosettes. Cheeks framing the face and meeting under chin. Each of them adorned with an embossed and engraved star of eight points. Plume-holder set above left ear. (Of a curious and unusual shaper, doubtless made to owner\u27s specification). An Antique Jewel Case with Secret Locks and Guns
No full textThis jewel case was invented and constructed by Joseph Max. Le Baron de Lutgendorf Aulic, counsellor of His Serene Highness the Reigning Prince of Thurn and Taxis, etc. The bottom lock turned once locks the whole of the chest, the top lock turned once prevents the pistols from flying out when the chest is opened. This jewel case is of French workmanship and was made in France in the Second Part of the XVIII Century. The interior was made in Germany in the same period.
