The article explores the problems of students’ motivation and its influence on educational effectiveness, considering the importance of motivation for young people’s personal and professional development. The significance and functions of motivation in various aspects of students’ activity were studied (including social conditions of their life). The leading educational motives of people entering a professional educational institution are “professional” ones, but the role of motives changes within the period of study. This process is considerably influenced by vocational guidance work, the organization of industrial practice, along with the possibility of further employment. The research purpose is to study the specifics of developing students’ educational motivation at theoretical and empirical levels. The research methodology and its algorithm include conducting a complex psychological and pedagogical experiment by assessing the participants’ motivation before and after the implementation of the training programme. Today, it is not sufficient to provide a student with certain knowledge. Much attention is paid to forming his/her professional readiness, which we consider as a personal quality and an essential prerequisite for effective postgraduate activity. Students’ professional readiness will help them to successfully fulfill their duties, use knowledge and experience, maintain self-control, be effective when solving production tasks and adapt to continuously evolving conditions of work. Students’ professional readiness includes the motivational component, which is expressed in the system of stable attitudes and motives. The effectiveness of developing students’ educational motivation is due to a number of pedagogical conditions, primarily the use of training as a method of increasing students’ motivation.

The article deals with the formation of students’ tolerance and management of this process. The aim of the article is to cover theoretical and empirical aspects of the management of students’ tolerance formation. A special focus is made on the role of tolerance in modern society and for the educational system as well as on the contradictions which determine the relevance of tolerance in the university environment. Tolerance is a complex, multifaceted phenomenon which touches all aspects of student life. Entering the university, young people find themselves surrounded by many different personalities who have their own values and beliefs in life. This calls for the necessity to respect and accept a different opinion and a different way of life. Therefore, nowadays the formation of tolerance acquires special importance in educational institutions as it is tolerance which is the basis of effective communication in a politically cultural society like the Russian Federation. So the formation of tolerance is a social order as it is impossible to develop the educational system unless this aspect is included. We scrutinized relevant literature on the issue and came to the conclusion that the formation of tolerance can be only achieved by means of democratic management and students’ conscious choice of tolerant attitudes and behavior, which excludes any pressure or foisting. The study involved the choice of methods and an algorithm, which comprised the diagnosis of the mentioned parameters, conducting a formative experiment, repeated check of the parameters and performing a statistic analysis of the results. The study was carried out on the base of the Institute of Foreign languages, RUDN University (Russia). The research results allow drawing a conclusion about high effectiveness of the implemented actions aimed at the formation of students’ tolerance.

In accordance with European tendencies, modernization penetrated the Ukrainian culture as an “artistic philosophy” (by S. Pavlychko). Ivan Franko, as an artist and thinker, underwent several evolutionary changes during his life. The modernist artistic heritage of I. Franko existed in the context of the works of Lesia Ukrainka, O. Kobylyanska, V. Stefanyk, M. Kotsyubynsky and M. Cheremshyna. But in the literary debate, Franko remained a staunch opponent of those who urged Ukrainian writers to abandon realism. I. Franko’s short story The Jay’s wing. From the notes of a hermit is an experiment of literary form. We aim to analyze various aspects of this literary phenomenon, which will clarify the Ivan Franko's role in the process of Ukrainian literature modernization. This short story does not provide a lot of material for the classical narratological method. Therefore, it makes sense to combine it with psychological interpretation and semiotic observations. One of the directions of expanding the possibilities of semiotic interpretation through narrative observations is the involvement of the conceptual sphere of cinematic poetics
