Kat
The Tradition of Frigate Mackerel (Auxis thazard) Processing as Balinese Local Wisdom
Bali is a small island that is a world tourist destination. Bali is surrounded by ocean. The ocean has an enormous potential in the fishery field. One of the fish potentials is frigate mackerel. This research aims to describe the handling process and the processing of frigate mackerel in the central of fish boiling, Kusamba village, Bali. This research is designed in an observational descriptive study. Observation conducted on the handling process and the processing of frigate mackerel from its catching located at Amed beach, take a three-hour drive to Kusamba until the processing to be a boil frigate mackerel in the central of fish boiling Kusamba village. Quality test of frigate mackerel processed results at Kusamba Village consists of microbiological, chemical, and organoleptic quality conducted at the laboratory of fisheries and marine of Bali Province. Observation results will be elaborated qualitatively in the photos form and narratives, laboratory results are described in tables and analyzed using Indonesian national standards. The results showed that the process of frigate mackerel handling in Bali is still using a simple method with traditional equipment. The differences in the types of packaging and duration of storage on the quality of Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus)
One of the most popular types of tilapia dishes is nila nyat nyat, which is boiled with Balinese spices until the water runs out. This study aims to determine the interaction between the different types of packaging and the length of storage to the quality of tilapia boiled with Balinese spices and to know the differences in the type of packaging and the length of storage to the quality of tilapia boiled with Balinese spices. The method used in this study was a factorial complete randomized design with 2 factors, namely; factor A (type of packaging) which consists of 2 types: Styrofoam (A1) and mica (A2) and factor B (storage time) which consists of 3 types: 0 days (B1), 3 days (B2), and 6 days (B3). Observations include subjective and objective observations were done. The interaction between packaging type and storage time only affects the Total Plate Count (TPC) value of tilapia boiled with Balinese spices. The types of packaging, both Styrofoam and mica, have a significant influence on the value of TPC. Storage time in cold temperatures has a significant effect on the quality of tilapia boiled with Balinese spices
The Role of Communicative English in Improving the Services of South Denpasar Sector Police Members
This study aims to determine the role of communicative English in
improving the services of the police. The research was carried out at South
Denpasar Sector Police Station located in the Sanur tourism area. Therefore, its
assignment area automatically covers Sanur as one of the main tourism
destinations for domestic and foreign tourists. The problem faced by the police
officers as PKM partners is their limited ability to effectively communicate in
English, such as asking questions, providing explanations to foreigners. The
research showed that these problems are overcome by providing communicative
English training lectures, using the pair work, and conversation methods. The
training has an impact on vocabulary mastery, communication skills, and
grammar mastery of the training participants
Artikel_Characteristic fillet of aloe vera gel as edible coating
This research aims to know the influence of storage temperatures against
characteristics fillet of Aloe Vera that is potential as an edible coating. This study used a
randomized complete design. Colour fillet Aloe Vera clear white initially when stored at room
temperature turns pink on day 2. While stored at cool temperatures the color change on day 4.
The gel is stored at cool temperatures have pH and moisture content are relatively stable,
decreased severity is also lower compared to the store at room temperature. Aloe gel fillet show
change of characteristic beginning at day 4 when gel is stored at ambient temperatures. A
decrease in activity is also evident when the fillet stored refrigerated, even though the rate of
activity loss is greatly reduced. The losses of activity appear to be result of enzymatic activity
after the leaf is removed from the plant. The characteristic of fillet Aloe Vera gel that storage at
cool temperatures better than storage at room temperature, and decreased with the longer storage
It can be seen from color characteristics change, lower weight loss, decreased water content and
pH of relatively more stable

Application of Making MOLs in Rice Planting with Organic Systems in Subak Pacung, Selat Village, Abiansemal Sub-district, Badung
Subak Pacung located in Selat Village, Abian Semal Sub-district, Badung Regency, is one of the partnering communites in the implementation of PKM (Community Partnership Program). This group always experiences problems due to the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides which increasingly damage the soil structure and pollutes the environment. Furthermore, the use of chemical fertilizers triggers poor soil quality, environmental pollution and increases greenhouse gas emissions which leads to a rise in global warming. Therefore, it is necessary to develop alternative strategies to manufacture cheap and envrionmentally friendly organic fertilizers with same benefits as the chemical. Organic fertilizers made from local micro organisms have similar benefits with decomposers or ingredients for composting, liquid organic fertilizer, and vegetable pesticides. Data were obtained through face-to-face interviews, counseling and direct practice. The activities were carried out as follows: Firstly, a general counseling was held on the dangers of using chemical fertilizers and pesticides, as well as analysis on the benefits and methods of making Local Micro Organisms (MOL). Secondly, direct training was carried out in making MOL and several evaluations. Thirdly, an ends to the PKM activity, motivates farmers to apply the use of MOL as organic fertilizers and pesticides in rice planting. The result shows that the output target to be achieved is the training participants ability to understand the methods of making MOL, in order to reduce the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides
Concurrent infections of dengue virus serotypes in Bali, Indonesia
Objective: To describe cases of dengue virus (DENV) concurrent infections in patients from both local and international traveler visiting Bali, Indonesia. Results: During a hospital-based study, 260 patients (from 161 local and 99 international traveler patients) were recruited. Among them, 190 were positive by DENV RT-PCR in which eight patients (five local and three international travelers) detected as having concurrent infections by two different DENV serotypes. Among the eight patients, the common dengue symptoms diagnosed were fever, headache, and myalgia. Six cases (75%) were diagnosed with dengue fever (DF) while two cases (25%) manifested with bleeding and were diagnosed with dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) grade 1. The DENVs concurrent infections involved all four DENV serotypes known to be circulating in Bali. Although cases of DENV concurrent infections have been implicated with severe manifestation, we observed that most of concurrent infections cases in our study were of mild clinical manifestation, that may be related to the changing of DENV serotype predominance which is occurring in Bali, Indonesia
