Turtle Pendent
This golden pendant would have been worn by an elite, as well as being a bell. Golden bells and pendants were elite objects because of their sacred and material value. In Parita, Panama turtles often represent rebirth as well as duality between land and water. The turtle bell pendant was made in Panama using the lost wax casting technique and was cast in gold and copper. Gold is commonly associated with power and was thus considered a status symbol for the elite. The turtle symbolizes rebirth and is linked to the Maize God.https://digitalcommons.ithaca.edu/handwerker/1011/thumbnail.jp
