Robert William Hart was born in 1896 to William and Sarah Hart and grew up in Crawford County, Kansas. In 1916 he graduated from the State Manual Training Normal School (now Pittsburg State University), and found early work as an engineer. Robert served as an ensign in the navy during World War I. He taught in the public schools in Fort Scott and Pittsburg from 1916-1918; 1921-1923. In 1920 he married Retta Statler and they had two children. In 1923 he was hired as an assistant professor of mathematics at the Kansas Teachers College of Pittsburg, formerly the State Manual Training School. He received a masters degree in 1925 from the University of Illinois. During World War II he served as an instructor at the USNR Midshipman’s School at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. In 1946 he returned to Pittsburg to continue teaching at the school, which was now the Kansas State Teachers College. The following year he was named the head of the Placement Bureau at the college. He also served one year as the mayor of Pittsburg. Robert Hart continued working at the college until his retirement in 1966. FEASIBILITY OF USING PODCASTS FOR KNOWLEDGE DISSEMINATION TO REDUCE HEALTH DISPARITIES FOR WOMEN TARGETING PREVENTATIVE INITIATIVES AND LIFESTYLE MEDICINE INTERVENTIONS
The purpose of this feasibility project was to look at podcasts to shed light on the issues that affect the well-being of women with gender-based disparities in healthcare. Women face persistent obstacles when it comes to the quality of healthcare they receive. One of the barriers that has been ever-present is with failure of the medical system to rigorously study the effects of diseases and drugs on women or to fund studies on women’s health conditions. Implicit biases and lack of access to care inhibit the quality of healthcare. Collectively, these issues result in unnecessary sickness, disability, and decreased quality of life for women throughout their lifespan.
The frustration has been that the knowledge gap has not improved over time for most clinicians and reproductive-age women nor has the biases in care for women. Thus, the desire to make a positive difference in women’s lives on a bigger forum is a mission intended for the implementation of a podcast to carry a voice advocating for improvements in the care of women. Healthcare providers for women could also benefit from the podcast with a tool to offer patients information and advance the knowledge gaps of many healthcare providers due to the lack of women-focused education provided in their own teachings as well as the lack of time each can provide further education to patients in the clinical setting.
Maternal mortality and morbidity are internationally viewed as sentinel events that give insight into a country’s ability to care for the health of the population. This rings true with good maternal health and the risk of maternal death being influenced by a variety of health determinants from individual factors to systematic issues. Equitable access to health-promoting resources such as a free podcast available to all without barriers could reduce preventable maternal deaths and improve the health of women before, during, and after delivery
Student with Twice-Exceptionalities IEP Meeting Assignment Description
General education teachers should remember that all students are general education students, first. We need to be prepared to work with students of all abilities in our classrooms. As general education teachers, we have an active role on a child’s IEP team and an active role during the IEP meeting. THE IMPACT OF PERSONAL BARRIERS TO INCORPORATING THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION DIET
The leading cause of death worldwide is cardiovascular disease. Diet is the most influential, modifiable factor related to the development and progression of cardiovascular disease. The American Heart Association developed a diet that delivers guidelines for diet. Therefore, identifying the most significant factors that hinder the effectiveness of the diet was necessary. These hindrances can be categorized as physical, psychosocial, and socioeconomic barriers. Demographic differences also impact diet.
A survey was developed to identify and account for the most common dietary barriers. The Barriers to Healthy Eating scale addressed different circumstances which impact diet. By using this scale, providers can understand the individualized barriers for each patient. After meeting the inclusion criteria, 152 research participants completed the scale. Once the surveys were completed, a factor analysis was conducted to identify trends in barriers which allows for more effective education and interventions related to diet. This study emphasized the understanding that everyone must deal with unique life circumstances, and they directly impact their diet. With improvements to the quality of diet for patients, cardiovascular deterioration can be reduced

Care of obstetrical patients in non-delivering facilities is increasing. Obstetrical service availability in rural areas has decreased by more than 50% in recent years, according to Hung et al. (2018). Healthcare providers in these areas lack confidence and competence due to lack of regular training and encounters with obstetrical patients. The Maternal Fetal Triage Index (MFTI) provides a standardized approach for triaging the obstetrical population. The purpose of this project was to determine if staff confidence and competency improves within 30 days following the review of the MFTI when compared to evaluations completed prior to the review. The project consists of a 17-question pre- and post-implementation survey that tested the knowledge and perceived confidence of the healthcare provider before and after education and review of the MFTI. Target population for the selected departments included licensed nurses within Ascension Via Christi ED In Fort Scott, Kansas. Data was collected from twelve eligible participants and analyzed from six participants that met full participation criteria. Results were evaluated using descriptive t-tests with comparison. A statistical significance increase in provider confidence noted between pre-survey (m = 17.3, SD = 4.58) and post survey (m = 21.3, SD = 3.7) testing; t(5) = -3.03, p = 0.02 and provider knowledge with pre-survey (m = 6.16, SD = 1.83) and post survey (m = 7.83, SD = 0.40) testing; t(5) = -2.5, p = 0.05
ELECTROCHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF MOF-DERIVED NICKEL COMPOUNDS FOR HIGH-PERFORMANCE SUPERCAPACITORS AND ELECTROCATALYSTS
There are various forms in which humans use energy in daily life. From applications that require a high energy density to long-term storage, the requirements for energy usage are diverse. Therefore, with the continuous increase in users worldwide, more practical energy-driven sources are required, allowing manufacturers to look toward emerging functional materials. An emerging class of functional porous materials referred to as metal-organic framework (MOF) has received considerable attention over the past two decades, partially because of their potential use in various applications, including gas storage, molecular separations, electrocatalyst, and energy devices. For example, metal oxide and hydroxide-based MOF materials are widely used for supercapacitor (SC) and electrocatalyst applications.
This thesis aims to study the electrochemical properties of nickel-derived oxide and hydroxide-based MOF for application in SCs and electrocatalysts. The effect of growth temperature on the electrochemical properties of these samples were studied. To tune the surface area and porosity, these MOFs were prepared at different temperatures. Nickel acetate and glutaric acid were used as main precursors in synthesizing nickel hydroxide (NH)-MOF (NH-MOF-140, 160, and 180 ℃) and nickel oxide (NO)-based MOF (NO-MOF-140, 160, and 180 ℃) at various temperatures. The as-prepared NH and NO-MOFs were analyzed using various techniques. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) determined the microstructure and phases of the derived hydroxides and oxides. As a result, the NH-MOF-160 shows the highest specific capacitance (Csp) of 608 F/g along with 3.98 kW/kg and 24.92 Wh/kg of power and energy density, respectively. Also, the NH-MOF-160 shows the lowest overpotential of 268 mV for oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and 176 mV for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) to reach a current density of 10 mA/cm2

Each song is accompanied by program notes that include a brief biography of the composer, information about the song, text and translation, and a performance reflection
Study of a Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer Composite Using a Biobased Polyurethane as a Thermosetting Resin
Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer composites (CFRP) have garnered increasing interest in recent years especially in the aerospace and automobile industries where they are gradually replacing metals as structural materials. This is owing to their light weight, high strength, high modulus, and excellent strength-to-weight ratio. Polymers are typically used as thermosetting resins in these composites. However, the synthesis of polymers currently is conducted via petrochemical processes which leads to adverse effects on the environment. To this end, in this work a biobased Polyurethane (PU) was used as a thermosetting resin in a CFRP. The biobased PU was synthesized by the reaction of a sunflower oil-derived polyol with isocyanate. The CFRPs were then fabricated using increasing layers of carbon cloth ranging from 1 to 5. Mechanical testing of these composites was then carried out. Tensile test data showed an increase in maximum load before failure with an increase in the number of carbon cloth layers, with values of 1828 N, 5240 N, 7193 N, 10164 N, and 10774 N for composites made from 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 layers of carbon cloth respectively. Young’s modulus values showed a similar increase, with values of 44.7 GPa, 55.7 GPa, 56.4 GPa, 57.2 GPa and 63.9 GPa for composites made from 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 layers of carbon cloth respectively being realized. Flexural testing data showed that there is an increase in the flexural modulus with an increase in the number of carbon cloth layers, with values of 315 GPa, 390 GPa, 656 GPa, 707 GPa, and 833 GPa for composites made from 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 layers of carbon cloth respectively. A similar trend was observed in the hardness values of the composites, with values of 88D, 89D, 94D for composites made from 1, 2, and 3 layers of carbon cloth and values over 100D for the composites made from 4 and 5 layers of carbon cloth. Our composites show excellent chemical resistance properties with minimal degradation after immersion in water, acidic and basic solvents for 48h. This work suggests that CFRPs can be prepared using biobased polyurethanes
SELECTED ELEMENTARY MUSIC EDUCATORS’ PERCEPTIONS OF CURRICULUM, SCHEDULING, AND WORKLOAD
Elementary music is a field that many people would agree is important, but the subject does not always get an equal opportunity when stacked up against subjects that are regulated with standardized tests, such as math or language arts. I set out to study elementary music programs in the region where I am employed (the Four State Region of Kansas, Arkansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma) in the Midwest. Some questions I sought to answer were what types of elementary music curricula are available and popular, and how districts come to select their music curriculum. Additionally, I wanted to examine the school scheduling decisions surrounding elementary music courses, and how such decisions are made. Finally, looking at the elementary music performance traditions played a role in my study as I wanted to explore the merits of performance opportunities for young music students, and how preparing and presenting those performances are integrated with the rest of their school music instruction. My hope in completing this study was to gain new ideas and challenge music educators and their administrators to examine their elementary music programs and look for potential areas of improvement to give young music students the best opportunities possible
