    No full text
The main aim of this study is to model quality of life (QoL) among inmates’ community imprisoning in Malaysian prison using quantitative study. A total of 451 inmates were selected and the validation model using confirmatory factor analysis confirmed the unidimensionality, validity and reliability of the construct. The study found QoL Maqasid al-Sharia approach, consists of five constructs namely “religion”, “life”, “mind’, “lineage” and “property”, may be useful for strategies that could enhance QoL of these inmates’ communities

Employees in the hotel industry are the key personnel who contribute to giving guests the satisfactory experience they expect. Therefore, it is important that every employee strives to improve his/her job. The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of job satisfaction, leadership style, and organisational structure on job performance, with the moderating role of quality of work-life among employees working in Jordanian hotels. The study explores the perceptions of employees working in five-star hotels in Jordan in order to verify the validity and reliability of the study instrument. The study was applied to a small sample, and SPSS analysis software was used. The study validated the reliability of the instrument in conducting a preliminary study, obtaining reasonable normality and highly reliable coefficients of measures (0.927- 0.986). The study validated the effectiveness of the instrument that examined different specific antecedents of job performance

Soil moisture and environmental temperature and humidity sensor-based data Breaches in IoT enable irrigation system design using arduino and FPGA

    No full text
In this work, we have successfully implemented a Moisturization sensor to detect the presence of moisture and trigger pump to on/off depending on the presence of moisture in the soil. The implementation of soil moisture sensor is done on the Arduino board using Yl-69 sensor and the implementation of temperature and humidity is done on Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) device. Artix-7 FPGA is used for interfacing the sensor. FPGA devices not only display the temperature value but also makes the whole system power-efficient. We have also surveyed the required water content in soil for the ideal production of crops. We set a threshold level of moisture for every crop if moisture will be less than threshold then pump will automatically start otherwise pump will stop. We have also observed that Sugarcane consumes the maximum amount of water among the list of surveyed crops in Table 1. The minimum amount of water is required by Bean. Therefore, pump up time will greater for sugarcane and minimum for bea

[Public rights and freedoms in contemporary Islamic thought]

    No full text
Pluralism and diversity are considered as one of the laws (Sunan) of God in His creation. It is natural that Islam establish all the rules, and provide all the necessary requirements in order to protect this pluralism and diversity whereby God created us distinct in languages and colors. For this reason, Islam derived its strength and greatness from the liability of these legislations, concepts and principles for application on the ground, and from their being within the bounds of the limited human capacity and energy. The problem of the research lies in the original differences which make variance obvious between Islam and the contemporary political thought in determining the rights and the public freedoms. The researcher aims from this study to clarify the most important rights and freedoms in the contemporary Islamic thought and to discuss the difference between the Islamic epistemological model and the material epistemological model, and also to show the differences between the Islamic conceptualization and the Western conceptualization concerning the rights and the freedoms. In order to achieve the aim of this study, the researcher used the descriptive analytical methodology. The study reached the following results: that the human freedom should be committed to the horizons of Shari’a (Muslim religious law), the limits of God, and that Islam considers freedom as being necessary for humanity in general and not only for the Muslim person alone. Equality is a guaranteed right for every human being and it is a great basis on which religion is established. God made piety as the balance of prederence between human beings. Islam determined precisely all rights and freedoms by God’s commands and His limits which do not,as some claim , fetters which tie up the energies of the human being and kill his aspirations and his yearnings. Islam supports positive opposition and considers it under commanding good acts and prohibiting abominable acts as a collective duty on the Muslim person, rather it is one of the basic rights which is represented in the freedom of giving opinion within the limits of Sari’a ( Muslim religious law ) and its controls. The study also concluded that the human being in the Islamic conceptualization enjoys rights and freedoms but in the framework of the concept of the appointment of man as God’s successor on the earth (al-istikhlaaf) and slavery to Almighty God, whereas the Western conceptualization gives a free rein to man without a restriction or a condition

    No full text
In the private sector, integrated reporting is an emerging corporate reporting practice. Recently, the new reporting initiative starts to gain the attention of the public sector as well. Integrated reporting was designed to provide innovative and comprehensive reporting of performance with the main focus on value creations. The reporting classifies capitals into six types which are financial, manufactured, intellectual, human, social and relationship, and natural capital. The purpose of this study is to assess the implementation level of integrated reporting in the Malaysia local authorities which represent the third level of government administration. To date, no published empirical research has examined the issue at the level of local authority. The integrated reporting implementation is divided into high, moderate and low levels. This research adopts a quantitative approach and data was gathered using selfadministrative questionnaire survey. 84 local authorities from 11 states in Peninsular Malaysia were involved in the study and 257 respondents made-up the final sample. The findings indicated that the overall implementation level was moderate at 56.4%. The results further revealed that only two states (Negeri Sembilan and Pahang) used the six capitals in the reporting while six other states (Selangor, Perak, Melaka, Johor, Kedah and Pulau Pinang) only reported four different capitals. The implementation level in the states of Kelantan and Perlis were still low at only 2 types of capital being reported. In terms of size, the findings suggest that the implementation levels at large and medium size local authorities were moderate at 66.7% and 70.9%, respectively. While the lowest level of implementation was recorded for the small size authorities with the mean of 53.2%. This study contributes to the current initiatives in promoting sustainable development goals at the local authorities in the Peninsular Malaysia through comprehensive reporting

CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) is a new syllabus for English language subject of Malaysia primary school students. However, none of pronunciation elements involve the stress, rhythm and intonation have been emphasized to accomplish Standard English Accent. The issue is that, Malaysian primary school students do not apply correct stress and intonation while speaking and reading Standard English. Therefore, this study aims to identify the use of stress, rhythm and intonation applied in their spoken English words by both groups. The researcher had choose 15 Khotimul Quran students as the experimental group, whose background had complete reciting Quran for the whole 30 Juz and 15 common students as the control group from Sekolah Kebangsaan Pusat Air Tawar, Johor as the unit of analysis. The researcher uses semi-structured interview, observation and focus group discussion to triangulate the data. Pilot data analysis of the responses had shown a strong correlation between speaking Standard accent with correct stress, rhythm and intonation among the Khotimul Quran. Based on this results, the researcher expects the experimental group those who have Quranic-phonological background achieves higher percentages of accurateness of speaking Standard English accent compares to the control group
