    No full text
In light of the difficult challenges facing the hospitality industry, actual employee turnover becomes an important issue facing the hospitality industry due to its negative impacts on hotels' performance, sustainability, and growth as well as the failure to satisfy customers' needs. Drawing on the social exchange theory, the present paper is a literature review paper that aims to investigate theoretically the antecedents of employee turnover intention. Some critical research gaps were found through this theoretical investigation. For instance, human resources management practices play a critical role in hotels' success through enhance employees' attitudes and behaviors but lack research existed to identify deeply the impact of these practices on employee turnover intention. Theoretical evidence was found that human resources management practices enhance employee intrinsic motivation which can strongly boost employee loyalty to their organization resulting in decrease employee intention to leave the workplace. In other words, employee intrinsic motivation can play a mediating role between human resources management practices and employee turnover intention

STEP file is known as a CAD neutral file which stands for Standard for the Exchange of Product model data for the next generation of data model between CAD/CAM and CNC system. It contains three-dimensional data in ISO 10303-21 format which ultimately all CNC programs can recognize. Now however, not all documents in the STEP file are appropriate for programming CNC G-Code. This paper explicates the design, development and testing of an Integrated Interface System (I2S) using knowledge discovery approach. The objective of this study is to provide helps for understanding the STEP-NC machining operation protocol. The system provides function of reading and extracting applicable data related with the machining functions from STEP file, that eventually write file format Geometrical Code (G-Code – ISO 6983) as an output file. G-Code is known as one of the low-level programming languages in CNC system. The sample of machined block designs from 3D CAD modeler where the features need to be machined from a blank workpiece and saved in the STEP neutral file format. In this work, the simulation in the Mach3 software and physical machining using 3-axis CNC milling machine installed with PC-based CNC controller has been validated

The holy Qur'an is the source of our glory and dignity that guides people to the right way in this life. However, there are some people who used their intelligence to distort the facts for personal gain or fame, they destroyed, killed and plundered peoples' own wealth and national resources. Due to their evil deeds, they shall be remembered in a bad memory over the ages so that people draw lessons from what God punished them in this world and what awaits them in the hereafter. The goal of creative thinking is that the Qur’an and Islamic law urged people to do it. We are constantly ordained to think, meditate with so many different verse emphasizing the importance of mind to do so. Consequently, we can find that one of the most important results that the researcher came out is that the Holy Quran is meant to address the mind of the reader to think giving incentives to this matter whereby we see a whole Surah embedded in the Holy Qur'an for this purpose whether implicitly marked or explicitly mentioned both are to make us fond of using our intellect. Since our need is not limited to just a few individuals to excel in some areas of creativity, but to a creative and thoughtful people, the Qur'an brings inspiring stories of people who invoked their minds in pursuit of great achaivments, and urges us to think about them, and to confront everything that our religion and mind satisfies, operating from Islamic law coupled with rational intellectually thinking

    No full text
Researchers have studied the leadership styles of educational leaders in connection with their level of computer use and success in integration of ICT. This study aims to reveal if the leadership style can be a predictor of competent technology leaders. The importance of this study is to investigate the leaders’ competency as technology leaders rather than level of perceived use of technology, using Technology Leadership Competency Scale for Education Administrators which is adapted from International Society for Technology and Education (ISTE) standards for Education administrators. Fifty educators, who take leadership or administrative roles in educational institutions from the Eastern part of Malaysia as scope, completed Multi factor leadership questionnaire (MLQ) developed by Bass. The results indicate moderate correlation between both transactional and transformational leadership styles. It is concluded that leadership style is not a predictor of competency level of technology leadership. The study contributes into literature discussing the effects of cultural differences in different countries on desired leadership styles, which in result may affect the level of technology leadership competency. In addition, it also argues that leadership style characteristics cannot be used as a method to transform education

Animal DNA and halal status of chocolate products in Malaysia

    No full text
Chocolate is a type of confectionary product loved by most of the Muslim society in Malaysia. Various types of biscuits, cakes and desserts may be produced with chocolate as an ingredient. Thus, chocolate products are encouraged by the Halal Council of Malaysia for an authentic halal certification. This led to tension after a report went viral in local newspapers that pig DNA was found on a well-known brand of chocolate in Malaysia. Muslims were shocked when the chocolate involved had the halal certified logo from the Department of Islamic Development of Malaysia (JAKIM). The consequence was that Muslims tend to boycott the particular chocolate brand. Therefore, the purpose of this paper was to identify the ingredients used in making chocolate and the method of determining its legal status. The definition of DNA and and how it can contaminate to other substances were highlighted and discussed. A qualitative case study design is conducted on chocolate making using a content analysis of primary sources of Islamic studies and sciences such as al-Quran, hadith, contemporary fiqh, science books and journals. Results indicated that the method of detecting animal DNA in chocolate was through Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) where pig DNA is detected with primers 5’- GCCTAAATCTCCCCTCAATGGTA-3’ and (reverse) 5’ -ATGAAAGAGGCAA ATAGATTTTCG-3’. Pig traces can contaminate other food products either deliberately or unintentionally. Legal ruling was that, it is haram (prohibited) if pig DNA was placed intentionally by human intervention or negligence. However, unintentionally contamination by human is affirmed as halal (permissible) based on the general rule by the mukalaf (authority)
