Differential Impacts Of Isokinetic Training On Proprioceptive Active Repositioning Errors Committed By Osteoarthritis Patients
The purpose of the present study was to investigate the
role of Conventional Physiotherapy (CP), Isokinetic
Exercise Training (IET) and combined intervention (CI)
of CP and IET in improving proprioception in participants
with knee osteoarthritis (OA). 54 post-menopausal female
participants in the age range of 45-65 years with knee OA
of Grade II severity were recruited from the Orthopaedics
Dept. of Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM).
Baseline assessment on the participants were done in the
Skill Laboratory of School of Medical Sciences and the
Exercise and Sports science laboratory, USM. Western
Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index
(WOMAC) was used to evaluate the subjective scale for
pain, stiffness and physical function. Proprioception was
assessed employing the isokinetic device BIODEX 4
System Pro. Thereafter participants were randomly
classified into three groups (Gr.) (Viz. Gr. A, Gr. B and
Gr. C, with n = 18/group). Gr. A participants received CP
comprising of strengthening exercises; stretching
exercises and range of motion (ROM) exercises. Gr. B
received IET at velocities of 90° and 150°/sec. Gr. C
participants received CI, with uniform protocol (25 - 30
min.s/ session; 2 sessions/week for 12 weeks). Mid-term
evaluation was done after 6th week followed by the post
intervention evaluation after 12th week following preintervention
analyses protocol. Two-way repeated
measure of ANOVA revealed effectiveness of the
interventions in improving proprioception of knee joint in
participants with OA of knee joint. IET was better
effective in augmenting proprioception involving
muscular sense, while CI was observed to facilitate in
enhanced proprioception in ligament. Multiple linear
regression analyses revealed the association between pain,
level of stiffness and physical function with weight,
height and level of proprioception
Ambulance Response Time at Three Selected Tertiary Hospitals in Malaysia: Performance of Hospital-Based Ambulance Equipped with Computerized Call Centre System
The importance of rapid ambulance response to emergency medical crises is undeniable. An early
access to advanced care is crucial to saving a life. Modern computerised call centre and the hospitalbased
ambulance services are believed to enhance the quality of service delivery. However, whether
it will further reduce the ambulance response time is still debatable. A cross-sectional study was
conducted in June 2012 until July 2012 at three selected tertiary hospitals in Malaysia. The
ambulance response time was expressed in a median and interquartile range (IQR) and Mann-
Whitney U test was used to determine the associations between types of ambulance and
computerised call centre system versus voice only. Wilcoxon Rank Sign Test was used to assess
the significance of means difference. A hospital-based ambulance had the median time of 0.19
minutes while community-based ambulance had the median time of 0.20 minutes (The Z score -
0.916, p-value - 0.360). The hospital with computer call centre had the median time of 0.19 minutes
while hospital without computer call centre had the median of 0.20 minutes (The Z score - 0.816, P
value - 0.414).The response time of hospital-based ambulance equipped with computerised call
centre system was comparable in three selected tertiary hospitals in Malaysia

the relation between epistemological beliefs about science and students' science achievement. This study was carried in the
form of a survey, using questionnaires as a method of data collection. A total of 302 students (168 males, 134 females)
between the age of 15-16 years old in Pahang, Malaysia participated in the study. Structure Equation Mode (SEM) was used
to validate the proposed model. The result showed that epistemology beliefs exert a significant direct effect on science
achievement. Mastery goals mediated the relationship between source and science achievement. Mastery, performance, and
avoidance goals also mediated the relationship between certain and science achievement significantly. Mastery and
avoidance goals mediated the relationship between development and science achievement. For the mediation role of learning
approach, deep approach mediated the relationship between source and science achievement and also mediated the
relationship between justification and science achievement. The result also showed that there are no significant difference
Uncovering The Determinants Of Sustainability Practices: Perceptive Of Small Scale Dairy Farmers
Aim/Purpose
This research will explore the factors that determine the level of adoption and participation in sustainability practices among the local dairy farmers in Malaysia.
Background
Sustainability is often aimed at a solution in most fields: economics, social, and ecological welfare. Sustainability is known as the best technique to practice farming, which ensures the continuity of the practices, guarantees the continuous access to economic resources; the social well-being of the people; and also the preservation of the environment. In order to improve productivity of the dairy industry in Malaysia, it is important for the dairy farmers to be encouraged to embrace the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices in their management of farm operations.
Methodology
Data were collected with the use of well-structured questionnaires. The face-to-face interview was conducted for 167 dairy farmers from six selected states in Malaysia. Likert-like scale was used to determine the practices that were adopted by the dairy farmers. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive analysis and regression.
Contribution
This paper attempts to bring into focus the sustainable practices in farming industry especially local dairy farmers in Malaysia. It also helps to prioritize the determinants which mainly influence the sustainability in dairy industry.
Findings
The findings suggest that the most significant element contributing to sustainability in the Malaysia’s dairy industries was environmental sustainability. It can be concluded that farm sustainability, environmental sustainability, and social sustainability variables explained about 42.6% of the variance that reflected sustainability.
Recommendations for Practitioners
The overall findings revealed that the entire element gave a significant role in the sustainability of the dairy industry. It is suggested that the industry in Malaysia develops over time towards sustainability.
Recommendation for Researchers
There is need for measuring sustainability thoroughly in every aspect and separately measured the sustainability determinants.
Impact on Society
Adopting the good management practices in improving the production by potentially revealing the dairy farmers sustainable operation practices, give benefits determinants influences dairy farmers adoption of sustainability practices; and also insights into the decision making process of dairy farmers in adopting sustainability practices.
Future Research
Cross Regional study will provide better insights on intensifying the determi-nants of sustainability and improving the livelihood of small farmer
زواج الصغار وأثر التغيرات الاجتماعية عليه
Marriage is an important stage in human life because it has a direct influence on the individual, family and society. Therefore, the age of marriage is of great importance. The purpose of this article is to reveal the most significant negative and positive influences of early marriage, and highlight the notion of social changes in relation to early marriage through knowledge of the age of marriage, taking into account the conditions of contemporary life. The researcher focused on the knowledge of early marriage and its negative and positive influences. In this article, the researcher adopted inductive and deductive methods. Among the most important findings of this study is that the Islamic law paid great attention to marriage in order to protect youth from any deviation and to protect societies from corruption. Marriage is a life contract that has been considered to be influenced with time, perhaps due to money despotism, loss of values, and intentions. Early marriage pays a significant role in social changes, both negatively and positively

The Environment Of The Sun During The Explosion Of Coronal Mass Ejections (CMES) On 2nd May 2016
Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) have been studied has become the most important phenomena of solar activity because it is the most energetic phenomena on the Sun. Concerning the importance of the impact of solar radio burst, we study the selected event of CMEs to observe the environment of the atmosphere of the Sun. It was found that the geomagnetic field was at active to severe storm conditions due to continued activity from the active region. The sunspot number is 76 and radio flux exceeds 92 sfu. There are eight sunspots and with a density of 2.9 proton/ cm3. During that event, solar wind also reached up to 540.6 kmsec-1. It is recommended to collect data for 5 years and above in order to observe the trend of the graph between SRBT II and the speed of CME
Effects of Leptin gene variants on obesity and its attributes in Malay population
Leptin is a hormone that regulates the energy intake and expenditure which is
encoded by leptin gene. Leptin gene variants were studied comprehensively in
relation with body weight status, but the evidences were indecisive. This study was
to determine the association between leptin gene variants, G2548A, H1328080
and A19G with obesity and its attributes in Terengganu, Malaysian population. This
study involved a total of 249 Malay subjects (101 healthy adults with normal BMI
as the control group and 148 overweight and obese subjects). The anthropometrics
data were obtained, blood samples were collected for genetic markers and lipid
profile analyses. PCR-RFLP technique was performed to determine the genotype
and allele distribution of leptin gene variants. The genotypic and allelic frequencies
of leptin gene variants presented no significant difference between groups, G2548A
(P = 0.93 and 0.74); H1328080 (P = 0.58 and 0.56); and A19G (P = 0.72 and 0.38)
correspondingly. However, there was statistical significant difference between
triglyceride level and genotypes of G2548A variant (P = 0.016); between total
cholesterol level and H1328080 genotypes (P = 0.027). In addition, multivariate
logistic regression projected the male gender (adjusted OR= 26.27; CI= 1.06-1.25;
P = 0.009), waist circumference (adjusted OR = 1.15; CI = 1.06-1.25; P = 0.001)
and body fat percentage (adjusted OR = 1.43; CI = 1.20-1.70; P<0.001) were the
independent risk factors for obesity. The data suggest G2548A, H1328080 and
A19G variants were not associated with obesity. However, waist circumference
and body fat percentage may increase risk for obesity in Malay population
A Comparative Study of Destination Selection Attributes among Island Tourists
The objective of this research is to examine differences in the choice of destination attributes, from the perspective of cross-cultural visi-tors and local islanders at two world-class islands in Malaysia. Using a close-ended questionnaire and random convenience sampling method, data collection has been carried out at two most visited islands in Terengganu; Redang and Perhentian. A total of 391 respond-ents (tourists and local hosts) was involved in this study. The outcomes of this research have demonstrated that local hosts and island travelers responded to destination selection attributes differently. The hosts were concerned with the environment and island activities, while tourist groups emphasized on the availability of services and facilities on the islands. This study also highlights that Malay and western tourist have a significant different perception with regard to destination selection attributes. Western tourist is also seeking a chance to be part of the island community and take part in their daily lifestyle. This research provides information on destination selec-tion attributes and highlights the importance of understanding about cultural differences among tourists and local hosts in delivering sat-isfactory services for the survival of island tourism over the long term
