    No full text
Various studies have been conducted to evaluate the relationship between customers satisfaction towards big companies in Malaysia. Nevertheless, the study of customer satisfaction on services provided by the government has not been much. Furthermore, study focusing on Terengganu state administration has not yet been done. Thus, the objective of this study is to look at the effectiveness of government programs and initiatives on young people based on the quality of service offered, government corporate image, customer satisfaction as a consumer to government service and to observe customer loyalty. Quantitative data was obtained by distributing questionnaires to 100 respondents comprising participants of the Terengganu Graduate Transformation Program (TGTP) who had been more than one year following the program. The TGTP participants are university leavers who have been given the opportunity to serve in several agencies and government departments throughout Terengganu. They are given exposure to government administration in various positions in line with their education background and interest. The data were analysed using the IBM SPSS Statistics (Statistics Package for the Social Sciences) software aimed at looking at the relationship between the service aspects offered by the government through various initiatives and programs in Terengganu. The relationship is measured in order to look at the strong bonding which forms the customer loyalty behaviour. The findings show that there is a direct relationship between service quality, corporate image influencing customer satisfaction and customer loyalty

A Multivariate Analysis Of Cardiopulmonary Parameters In Archery Performance

    No full text
Purpose. The aim of this investigation was to determine the most significant cardiopulmonary parameters bound with high archery scores and to assess their relationship with successful performance in archery. Methods. The total of 32 archers with mean age of 17 ± 0.56 years were gathered from dissimilar archery programmes. Cardiopulmonary parameters were measured prior to shooting tests. Multivariate techniques of principal component analysis (PCA), hierarchical agglomerative cluster analysis (HACA), and discriminant analysis (DA) were used to analyse the data collected. Results. The initial PCA identified 4 parameters with a higher eigenvalue (> 1). However, PCA after varimax rotation indicated 4 varifactors with high positive loadings, containing 3 respiratory parameters: forced vital capacity (FVC; 0.83), maximum voluntary ventilation (MVV; 0.83), and peak expiratory flow rate (PEFR; 0.87); 2 pressure parameters: resting diastolic blood pressure (RDBP; 0.78) and resting systolic blood pressure (RSBP; 0.88); 1 volume parameter: inspiratory reserve volume (IRV; 0.86); and 1 rate parameter: resting respiratory rate (RRR; 0.87). HACA divided the archers into 2 categories on the basis of their performance on the most needed parameters; these were high-optimum pulmonary capacity archers (HOCA) and low-optimum pulmonary capacity archers (LOCA). Standard, backward stepwise, and forward stepwise DA discriminated the classes from the 7 parameters with remarkable accuracy (90.63%, 93.75%, and 96.88%, respectively) for each method, confirming the classification provided by HACA. Conclusions. It is obvious from the current outcomes that such cardiopulmonary parameters as good FVC, MVV, PEFR, IRV, RRR, and optimal RSBP and RDBP are necessary for better archery performance

Songket: The Linkage Between Heritage and Tourism in Malaysia

    No full text
Malaysia is well known for its diversity of cultures and rich heritage. Songket weaving is one of the old crafts that remain popular to this day. Songket is a fabric traditionally woven using silk or cotton, with metallic thread weaved in to form songket motifs. In other words, this means thread is removed or pulled from the back of the weaved cloth using gold or silver thread. The Songket is synonymous with the Malay community, and in Terengganu, making songket is a legacy from the past that is still widely practiced. Interestingly, the songket has also become one of the many symbols used for tourism-related products, representing multi-racial Malaysia in the eyes of the world. This can also be seen in buildings around Malaysia that display the songket motifs. This unique cloth is usually worn as formal wear, such as wedding dresses, costumes for traditional dancers, and robes used in convocation ceremonies. Until today, there are still many songket weavers that produce quality songket as required by nobles, dignitaries, and ministers for use at special ceremonies. This paper aims to identify how far the songket has evolved to become a tourism product in Terengganu and whether this legacy continues among the younger generation. This study uses qualitative methods of face-to-face interviews as well as analysis of secondary data. The results of this study show that the songket draws tourists to Terengganu, and at the same is a source of income for entrepreneurs

    No full text
Assessment of learning involves determining whether the content and objectives of education have been mastered by administering quality tests. Thus, the quality of the test items used in evaluating students’ achievement should be a major area of concern in teaching and research in the field of education. This paper assesses the quality of Tamadun Islam dan Tamadun Asia (TITAS) or Islamic Civilization and Asian Civilizations Examination Questions by conducting item analysis. The developed one hundred (100) multiple choices questions were administered to N=36 degree students. The data obtained had been analyzed by conducting item analysis in order to determine the item difficulties, item discrimination indices and the distractors analysis. The finding of results indicates that, based on difficulty indices 18(18%) items were “problematic” or “faulty”, 66(66%) of the items have poor discriminating power. Similarly, the result of the distractor analysis showed 59(59%) of the distractors been flawed, having failed to meet the set minimum standards. Based on the findings it could be assumed that the test used has not been validated during the item development processes. It is recommended that, TITAS test items used in measuring students’ achievement should be made to pass through all the processes of standardization and validation by conducting item analysis to ensure its reliability as well as to minimize measurement errors

Host-Guest Expectations of Service Quality at Small Island Settings: A Cross-Cultural Approach

    No full text
One of the important issues for sustainable island tourism is knowledge about the needs of the host and tourist. As tourism is now becoming a global issue, there is also a need to examine this issue from the context of a cross-culture. A better understanding of cultural dissimilarities between hosts and guests at certain areas of destinations could improve tailored services and increase satisfaction for both the host and tourists. Existing studies related to expectation mainly undertaken from the tourist view. However, this study takes into consideration the expectation of service quality from tourists’ perspectives as well as host community. This study aims to gain some understanding about the impacts of cross-cultural dissimilarities between hosts and tourists by measuring their mutual expectations. Survey data is collected from Perhentian and Redang Islands, Malaysia. Two sample groups were involved in the study: host and tourists (Malay, Chinese, English and European). This study adopted two methods - the Mann-Whitney U-test and the Principal Components Analysis (PCA). The findings of this study demonstrate that mutual expectations between hosts and guests diverge across the cultural groups. This study contributes to the existing literatures related to service quality and highlights the importance of cultural differences in providing better quality tourism services particularly to island tourists in Malaysia and elsewhere

    No full text
INTRODUCTION: National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA), Ministry of Health Malaysia has received 1018 adverse drug reactions reports related to paracetamol with 1972 adverse events from year 2000 to February 2015. Serious skin reactions including Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS), toxic epidermal necrolysis and acute generalised exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP) may be developed as a result of allergic reactions of paracetamol. OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to develop and validate a questionnaire regarding Knowledge, attitude and Perception towards Allergic Reactions of Paracetamol (KAP-ARP) among general population. METHOD: Content and face validity of the KAP-ARP were determined by four experts and 20 respondents, respectively. A questionnaire with 36 items consisted of 16 Knowledge, 9 attitude and 11 Perception items was distributed to 177 respondents. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was performed for construct validity. Cronbach's alpha was used to determine reliability of the questionnaire. RESULTS: EFA constructed 13 Knowledge, 8 attitude and 8 Perception items. The final KAP-ARP questionnaire is reliable based on its internal consistency reliability (Knowledge: a m 0.78; attitude: a — 0.63; Perception: a = 0.70). CONCLUSION: A valid and reliable questionnaire which is useful for measuring KAP-ARP among general population has been developed

An Empirical Review of the Relationship between Strategic Quality Management and Organisational Performance

    No full text
In the past 15 years, awareness concerning natural changes was evidently expanding among population and industries. International agencies and national governments have expanded their endeavors concerning natural resources depletion, ozone depletion, gas emissions and waste reduction. Therefore, the main purpose of this paper is to examine the existing literature on the relationship between just-in-time (JIT), total productive maintenance (TPM), total quality management (TQM) and organisational performance. In total, 20 articles were empirically reviewed, all published in peer-reviewed journals between 2014 and 2018. The articles are analysed in terms of several general variables such as type of research and theoretical viewpoint, and the perspective taken on organisational criteria. The empirical reviewed indicated that JIT, TPM and TQM, maintained by human resource practices, have a significant prospective to develop the organisational performance. However, a simultaneous implementation of JIT, TPM and TQM does not certainly lead to greater performance. As prospective purpose for this, human resources are viewed as restrictive factor both improvement programs draw on. Therefore, this limited resource is acknowledged as vital element with respect to organisational performance when implementing JIT, TPM and TQM concurrently

Drying and Extraction Methods Effect on Biochemical and An-tioxidant Capacity of Malaysian Wild Edible Vegetables

    No full text
Some wild edible vegetables are rarely been studied albeit freshly consumed by local people as ‘ulam’. Due to their perishable nature, drying is applied to extend their shelf life which causes substantial changes in phytochemicals content. Hence for collection of optimum yield of phenolics, the use of solvents of different polarities is crucial. In this study, the effect of drying (freeze-drying and oven-drying) and extractants solvents (ethanol and water) methods on phenolics and flavonoids contents as well as antioxidant activity of ten immature wild edible vegetables extracts (Acrosticum aureum, Erechtites hieraciifolia, Erechtites valerianifolia, Gnetum gnemon, Manihot esculenta, Oroxylum indicum, Phyllanthus acidus, Piper sarmentosum, Terminalia catappa and Ziziphus mauritiana) collected in Terengganu, Malaysia were investigated. Extraction were carried out using ultrasonication-assisted method. The results indicated that some vegetables were good sources of antioxidants with the lowest IC50 value of DPPH scavenging was 6.19 μg/mL. Ethanolic freeze dried (EFD) extracts (0.5 mg/mL) showed stronger DPPH scavenging activity (Inhibition rates: 76 to 88%) compared to ethanolic oven dried (EOD) (56 to 88%) and aqueous freeze dried (AFD) (35 to 89%). Total phenolics content (TPC) and total flavonoid contents (TFC) were found to exhibit strong to moderate correlations with antiradical power. Among all samples, T. catappa following EFD, EOD and AFD showed the strongest antioxidant potential. The findings revealed that different drying methods and extracting solvents did influ-ence the biochemicals isolation and antioxidant activity

    No full text
This study focused on the chromaticity of Beta-carotene extracted from pumpkin (Cucurbita moschata) by using extracts of ethyl ace-tate. Beta-carotene was then being dissolved in the PLA coating solution and was then being tested with different treatments which were UV-A exposed and different temperature within a period of time. For UV-A, beta-carotene was exposed until 8 hours, while for the dif-ferent temperature (-25°C, RT, and 40°C), it was exposed until 6 hours. For the CIElab result, the colour changes due to the beta-carotene being exposed under a UV-A light and showed the result was sensitive to UV-A light exposure. For a different temperature, it can be concluded that, it was a slightly different within the temperatures selected due to the Beta-carotene was stable with the tempera-tures, eventhough it was exposed for a longer time. As a conclusion, it can be said that, beta-carotene was sensitive and not stable with the light especially rather than the temperature
