    No full text
Parasuicide and suicide have been a notable subject in the realm of public health. Though parasuicide history is considered to strongly predict completed suicide, the patterns of method, location and period of suicide attempt are not well-known, especially in upper middle-income country such Malaysia. Thus far, no complete count is kept on parasuicide by several agencies involved. The aim of this study is to report the current pattern and prevalence of parasuicide in Malaysia. The data were collected from the online media from 1 January 2017 to 31 March 2018 (15 months). In total, 21 incidences met the inclusion criteria. Across all cases, the leading method of parasuicide in our society pick out by the subjects is jumping from high structured building, more specifically residential area such as condominium and flats, at daylight, compared to hours of darkness. There is a cross-national variability in the current pattern of parasuicide manners, with strong uniformity in the method and period preferences for these behaviours. These findings have significant implications for the prevention and prognostication of parasuicidal actions

    No full text
This study aims to proffer solutions to customer loyalty challenges at these destinations by proposing and validating customer loyalty model using relationship marketing and social exchange theory. Based on the underpinning theories, this study analyzed the direct and indirect influence of brand image, trust, convenience and emotion on customer loyalty of five star hotels in Malaysia and Jordan. Further, the mediating effect of customer satisfaction on the relationship between exogenous latent variables and endogenous latent variable was investigated. A total of 384 and 371customers respectively of three famous hotels under the management of Starwood were sampled using convenience sampling method for data analysis from Malaysia and Jordan. SPSS version 21.0 software was used for the analysis. However, the empirical results showed partial mediation effects on the relationship between brand image, trust, convenience, emotion and customer loyalty in respect of Malaysian hotel customers. In Jordan hotels, satisfaction does not mediate the relationship between trust and customer loyalty but partially mediate between emotion, brand image, convenience and customer loyalty. In summary, the findings of this study will narrow the perception of the top echelon of these hotels on the actual factors to focus in order to earn loyalty of their valued customers. This study also contributed to frontier of knowledge by integrating the variables of relationship marketing from the perspectives of two developing countries

Kaedah Kelahiran Lotus Birth Menurut Perubatan dan Maqasid Al-Syariah

    No full text

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using effective microorganism as a supplement in diet on growth performance and hepatosomatic index of quails. A 14 days age quails were used in a trial in triplicate. The experiment were carried out by comparing the control (c) group with three group of effective microbe enrichment feeding in which ration was 1L EM: 250 L H2O (treatment 1), 1L EM: 550 L H2O (treatment 2) and 1L EM: 750 L H2O (treatment 3), respectively. Effective microorganism was supplemented via drinking water. Weight measurements of the quails were carried out every 7 days and growth performance parameters of the quails such as Body Weight Gain (BWG), Feed Intake (FI), Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR), Average Daily Gain (ADG) and Hepatosomatic Index (HSI) were also recorded. The data collected was analyzed for ANOVA one-way test using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) software. The result shows there was significant different (p0.05) between treatments. This may indicates that the effective microbe supplementation did not affect the liver metabolism

    No full text
This study was conducted to investigate the role of biofeedback interventions carried out in different modalities, with an objective to improve movement coordination in athletes. Sixty-nine young male recreational athletes (matched in anthropometric, cardiovascular and performance status) identified as having disrupted emotionality and deficiency in movement coordination were recruited as participant. Participants were subjected to assessment of psychobiological (skin conductance or Sc orienting reflex activity judged by ERP of autonomic and peripheral measures of arousal) and psychomotor attributes (lateral motor control and bilateral movement coordination parameters) in relation to performance excellence in soccer. Participants were categorised into three groups, viz. Group A nointervention control group, Group B experimental group I (received Sc biofeedback training) and Group C experimental II (received electromyography or EMG biofeedback training). Interventions followed for 15 minutes/ session, 2 sessions/week for 16 weeks. After the eighth week of intervention, mid-term analysis on all the parameters was carried out, and the post-intervention analyses were done after the 16th week of intervention. Furthermore, to evaluate the level of sustainability, post follow-up analysis of all the parameters of the baseline assessment as conducted to the participants. Two-way repeated measure of ANOVA revealed that both Sc and EMG biofeedback were found to facilitate in movement coordination, while Sc biofeedback training appeared as better effective technique in improving left and right lateral motor coordination and bilateral movement coordination performed in clockwise direction. Findings however clarified impact of enhanced psychobiological competence on improvement in movement coordination evident among Malaysian recreational athletes

Meta-Analytic Critical Review On Effects Of Conventional Physiotherapy In Muscle Strength

    No full text
This study intended to systematically review published research literatures to identify and evaluate the effectiveness of conventional physiotherapeutic (CP) training on improvement in muscle strength in middle-aged and elderly female individuals diagnosed as having Osteoarthritis (OA) of knee. Multiple databases having articles published between 2000 and 2016, such as - Web of Science, ProQuest, PubMed, Ebscohost and CINAHL were methodically searched for articles related to OA of knee. Only descriptive, meta-analytical and interventional research articles were retained. Overall effect size with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) was used to assess the strength of the relationship between interventions and improvement in muscle strength among elderly OA of knee patients, by using a random effects model. Heterogeneity was also evaluated. 9 experimental studies were selected and included in the review, out of which 4 were randomized controlled trials and rest were pseudo-randomised controlled trials. Studies considering drug co-interventions were excluded. Standardized effect sizes with 95% confidence interval (CIs) were calculated from the preintervention and post-intervention means of the conventional physiotherapy (CP) training group and other intervention or nointervention group. A generalized performance Altogether nine articles were analysed for improvement in strength. Pooled analysis of the results from the articles included clarified that, out of nine articles, only three favoured CP training as a modality for improvement in muscle strength in elderly OA patients. Rest of the articles (six articles) were found to favour no-intervention condition. Thus, the beneficial impact of CP training in improving muscle-strength in OA patients, did not get confirmed. This finding recommends that further studies following rigorous methodology are required to derive definitive evidence to confirm the beneficial effects of CP training on improvement in muscle strength among elderly patients suffering from osteoarthritis of knee
