Although it is not as intense as in other countries around the world, Malaysia is not left out to enhance the rapid development of technology by installing thousands of base station tower as an initiative to support the advancement of technologies nowadays. The construction of more base stations tower either for telecommunication, broadcasting or other systems has caused public concern about the possibility of adverse health effects on residents nearby due to NIR exposure emitted. This study is conducted to study the NIR exposure level around selected BST in Kuala Nerus. The NIR exposure level was detected using spectrum analyzer through circular patch (CP) antenna, which is specifically developed for this study. Spatial model of NIR exposure was developed using Geographic Information System (GIS) technique so the interpretation of NIR exposure level from BST for Kuala Nerus can be obtained

This study identify the level of basic skills of invasion games category when using School Based Assessment Module. The assessment of invasion games category was divided into two assessment contexts namely Assessment for Learning (AforL) and Assessment of Learning (AofL). The findings showed that the level of cognitive achievement for AforL is M = 69.12, SD = 14.74 and AofL is M = 76.60, SD = 12.96. The findings of the level of psychomotor achievement for AforL with M = 72.28, SD = 14:23 and AofL with M = 74.98, SD = 9.88. The analysis also showed the level of affective achievement for AforL: M = 75.33, SD = 14:40 and AofL: M = 76.65, SD = 18:52). This result clearly showed an improvement in students’ learning performance in achievement test through teachers’ observation during the teaching and learning of Physical Education for Invasion Game Category Basic Skills

    No full text
The issue of human trafficking in Malaysia has been debated for decades. It is a transnational crime that is rapidly growing across the world compared to drugs and weapons smuggling. Human trafficking could affect the country’s safety and sovereignty. This transnational and domestic issue targets women, children and foreign workers as exploitable victims. Various proactive approaches have been taken by the government to provide safety and protection mechanism for victims of human trafficking and establish Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants (ATIPSOM) Act 2007 in order to punish the offenders and to tighten the state border control that involves cooperation from different parties. Even though Malaysia’s position constantly changes in the annual human trafficking report by the U.S. ambassador in Malaysia, Malaysia continues to work hard in order to place in the top tier in overcoming human trafficking crime. This descriptive study is done by using the questionnaire in the research to explore social work students' knowledge of human trafficking in Malaysia. The findings of this study show that students do understand and have the general and specific knowledge about human trafficking and that they are serious about human rights that are supposed to be received by the victims. However, there are a number of social work students who are less interested in helping trafficking victims in the future. Research and special education need to be given to the students so that it could make the students want to help the victims and obtain the additional knowledge about human trafficking not only in Malaysia but also in the whole world

A Measurement Model for River Conservation Behavior Using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA)

    No full text
River conservation represents important environmental behavior for a sustainable environment. This research is to measure the validity and reliability of the instrument for measuring river conservation behavior model. The research instrument was administered to 373 respondents who were selected trough cluster sampling in 10 polluted rivers in the Terengganu state, Malaysia. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was used to validate the measurement model for items in the behavioral instrument. The findings of the study have dropped 36 items and retained 48 valid and reliable items to measure eleven constructs that affected the resident’s behavior. These behavioral instruments can be used to obtain a community profile as an indicator to improve the behavior of the residents towards river conservation

    No full text

Molecular Identification of Isolated Fungi from Kelantan and Terengganu Using Internal Transcriber Spacer (ITS) Region

    No full text
Fungi are morphologically, ecologically, metabolically and phylogenetically diverse. Fungi play important roles as one of the major decomposer in ecosystems, dominated by Saprophytic fungi. The identification of fungi is important to differentiate each fungi owing to their special ability in our ecosystem. However, the identification of fungi is become very challenging for those untrained mycologists. Essentially, the identification of fungi at the species-level is more problematic. Traditional approaches, based on the morphological or physiological features alone are unreliable because of the limited amount of morphological characters for fungi identification. Thus, a reliable molecular approach is required to identify the fungi at species-level. Here, we have successfully identified the species of 25 isolated fungi samples from the polluted areas in Kelantan and Terengganu by using the molecular identification utilizing the Internal Transcribed Spacer (ITS) regions. Phylogenetics tree was then constructed, using MEGA v7.0 software to illustrate the inter-relationships among the isolates. Among of 25 isolated fungi samples, 23 were identified from Ascomycota division and another two were from the Zygomycota division. From our observation, the most frequent species grew for both polluted areas were from Lasiodiplodia sp
