Water Resources Management of Sedimentation Problems in Terengganu River Basin, Terengganu, Malaysia
Water resource management is important for human well-being, ecosystems development and protection of existing water bodies from
pollution and exploitation. Water resource management and sedimentation are carried out in Terengganu River Basin, Terengganu. The
main objective is to study water resources management on sediment problems in the Terengganu River Basin. The Gravimetric method
was used to analysis the TSS measured in mg/L. 250 ml water sample was needed for each study area (each station). Based on the cross
section trend and the average downstream and middle section of the Sungai Terengganu system, the average TSS level is higher than the
upper section. The minimum width allocation of river reserves to control development near the river is based on the Department of Irrigation
and Drainage (DID). Finally, there are a few recommendations of sedimentation management around Terengganu River Basin that
will improve the river water quality, especially in Malaysia
Flexible Approach Path (FAP) for Effective Learning Process in Self Exploration Education System (SEES)
The purpose of this study is to develop a Flexible Approach Path (FAP) for effective Self Exploration Education System (SEES) practice
for adult learning. In practice, SEES still acutely focuses on transmitting facts instead of encouraging personal exploration. A major
barrier to the uptake and integration of new technologies in teaching and learning is the lack of personal experience of online learning on
the part of those involved in learning and in the preparation of materials and methods to support the learning. This project addresses by
introducing a FAP to support one’s own learning, within a semi-formal community structure using 45 = 40 end-users. This project
focuses on the FAP that includes six dimensions (Invention, Recommendation, Explanation, Demonstration, Understanding, and Recall)
which can impact: time; the content of the course; entry requirements; instructional approaches and resources; delivery and logistics -
each with several aspects. It is applicable to all learning-development situations without being merely restricted to self-instruction or
Distance Learning. For the persons who are not familiar with the Flexible Approach, e.g., those who are familiar with face-toface/
fieldwork approach, they may wonder why and when the Flexible Approach is applicable. The Flexible Approach is applicable in a
case where a learner who can conduct learning on his/her over for certain subjects, thus decreasing the demand for an instructor. A
missed learning session does not have to be replaced because the material is already there. They help a trainee who takes a little longer
than the other learners to comprehend certain concepts/materials. In addition, it is suitable to be applied in situations when the time is a
constraint to limit face to face interaction. In all the above scenarios, the Flexible Approach to learning and development can be used as a
very realistic alternative

Breast Cancer Knowledge Among Nursing Students In Public University
In Malaysia, women had breast cancer always reported at their late stage. One of the causes is
due to the delay in seeking medical attention. Poor knowledge about the breast cancer is one of the factors
that cause the delay. Aim: This study was designed to assess the knowledge on breast cancer symptoms and
risk factors, screening method, and practice among participants. Methodology: This was a cross-sectional
study done from 1st of March till 15th of March 2016 involving 89 nursing students from School of Nursing
Science, Medical Faculty, University Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA). Data analysis was carried out using
Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) Version 21. Results: Eighty-nine participants responded.
Majority of the students (>80.0%) knew the symptoms of breast cancer and common method of screening.
Less than 50.0% knew the high risk factor for developing breast carcinoma. Less than 50.0% carried out the
breast self-examination. Conclusion: Students had excellent knowledge on symptoms of breast carcinoma
and its screening method. Majority (>50%) of the students were still not clear about high risk factors group.
Lack of breast self-examination practice among students was noted
The Religious Practises of Deaf Muslims in Malaysia: A Case Study at the Special Education School
The religious practice in everyday life is part of the manifestation of religion and belief of every human being.
Within the Islamic context, for example, religious practices must be one that stems from the Islamic religious laws. All
Muslims, including the deaf, need to perform their religious obligations within their abilities. However, not much attention
is given to people with disability, such as the deaf, with regards to observing their religious practices and in understanding
the related problems that they face. This article serves to explain religious practices of the deaf Muslims through a research
conducted at a Special Education School (for the Deaf) in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah and the Activity Centre, Society for the
Welfare of the Deaf in Terengganu, Malaysia. This study employs the survey method, which uses the questionnaire as an
instrument for data collection. Among the aspects of religious practices observed are acts of worship like prayer and fasting,
as well as general practices like eating habits, and ways of dressing. The study showed that the hearing impaired also perform
religious practices in their daily life, although a majority of them are unable to perform them completely
The Physicochemical and Sensory Attributes of Watermelon Rind Flour Incorporated Steamed Cupcake
This study aim to investigate the physicochemical and sensory attributes of watermelon rind flour incorporated
steamed cupcakes. The produced watermelon rind flour using hot-air drying at 40, 60°C and freeze drying were
substituted for plain flour at 10% level to produce CR40, CR60, and CRFD, respectively. Steamed cupcake
without watermelon rind flour served as control (CCONT). Proximate results showed that composite steamed
cupcakes had significantly (p<0.05) higher ash, crude fat, and crude fibre contents but lower crude protein, total
carbohydrate, and calorie values than control. CRFD steamed cupcakes showed lighten crust and crumb and
greater volume and specific volume. However, it shows harder texture but springier crumb than the CCONT.
Sensory evaluation results showed that all steamed cupcakes with or without containing 10% watermelon rind
flour were considered acceptable by the panellists. It can be concluded that watermelon rind flour dried using
freeze drying method improved the nutritional quality and texture properties of steamed cupcakes

work. Interviews were conducted with 12 participants self-identified as victims. Themes identified in the study
were: Frustration, demoralisation, pressure and loss of confidence. The study emphasised the importance of
knowing the psychological impact for the toleration of misconduct at work by victims in Malaysia which might
provide insightful information for researchers in non-Western society
Nutritional Value and Physicochemical Properties of White Bread Incorporated with Hevea brasiliensis (Rubber Seed) Flour
This study was conducted to determine the nutritional value and physicochemical properties of white bread
incorporated with rubber seed (Hevea brasiliensis) flour (RSF). Rubber seeds were dehulled, oven dried, ground
and sieved to produce RSF. The formulation of the bread included two controls, namely, C1 (100% wheat flour)
and C2 (100% RSF), and bread incorporated with 25% RSF (RSF25), 50% RSF (RSF50) and 75% RSF (RSF75).
The proximate compositions of wheat and RSF in the composite flour and bread samples were determined using
standard procedures. The physical characteristics (specific volume, water activity, colour analysis of the crust and
crumb, texture analysis and pore size) of the controls and supplemented breads were assessed. Increasing the
amount of RSF from 25% to 100% significantly increased (p<0.05) the ash, protein, fibre and fat contents of the
bread samples and significantly decreased (p<0.05) their carbohydrate and moisture contents. The specific
volume increased and the water activity decreased as the added amount of RSF increased. The preferred
percentage range of the specific volume was 25%–50%. Colour analysis revealed that the colour of the crust and
crumb of the bread darkened when the percentage of RSF supplemented in the formulation increased. Thus,
(RSF25) showed the best acceptability based on the nutritional value and quality of the bread
The Effect of Em-1® (Lactobacillus Spp.) On Growth Performance of Quails, Coturnix Japonica
This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using effective microorganism as a supplement in diet on growth performance and hepatosomatic index of quails. A 14 days age quails were used in a trial in triplicate. The experiment were carried out by comparing the control (c) group with three group of effective microbe enrichment feeding in which ration was 1L EM: 250 L H2O (treatment 1), 1L EM: 550 L H2O (treatment 2) and 1L EM: 750 L H2O (treatment 3), respectively. Effective microorganism was supplemented via drinking water. Weight measurements of the quails were carried out every 7 days and growth performance parameters of the quails such as Body Weight Gain (BWG), Feed Intake (FI), Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR), Average Daily Gain (ADG) and Hepatosomatic Index (HSI) were also recorded. The data collected was analyzed for ANOVA one-way test using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) software. The result shows there was significant different (p0.05) between treatments. This may indicates that the effective microbe supplementation did not affect the liver metabolism
