The relationship between transformational leadership among principal with organizational citizenship behavior in secondary school in the East Coast Malaysia

    No full text
The purpose of this research is to identify the level of Transformational Leadership of Principal towards Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB). This research is a survey using questionnaire distributions. The questionnaire utilized in this research is divided into three parts. The first part of the questionnaire involves the questioning of the respondent demographics. The second part is the 20 items of the dimension of Organizational Citizenship Behavior based on Podsakoff (1990). While the third part of the study questions contains 20 items describing the style of Transformational Leadership based on instruments built by Bass and Avolio (1995). A total of 102 respondents have collaborated in the success of this research, and two types of statistics were used, which named descriptive statistics and inference statistics. The results of the study showed that the majority of the respondents were tending to the intellectual stimulating dimensions (mean 6.09) compared to the motivational dimensions (min 5.98), individual consideration dimensions (min 5.88) and charismatic dimensions (min 5.40). The intellectuals’ stimulation is the fourth dimension embodied in transformational leadership. The T-test was found to have no significant relationship between the organization’s citizenship behavior and the gender of the respondent. One of the objectives of the study is to investigate the relationship between Transformational Leadership and Organization Citizenship Behavior. Hence, the correlation test has been used and the findings show a significant relationship between transformational leadership and the organization’s citizenship behavior (r = 0.431). As such, the role and responsibility of the Principals also need to change from time to time and they also need to alter them based on time and situation. If a principal has effective leadership qualities, then the mission and vision of making an outstanding school can be achieved. On the other hand, if a principal lacks character in his or her leadership, then it will give an unfavorable effect on the achievement of a school

The principle of I'tibar Maalat in issuing the fatwas of muslim minorities

    No full text
Imam Al-Shatibi has come up with the idea of considering maalat in order to deal with Sharia rules, by considering their consequences when these rules come to be implemented in reality. It is understood that mujtahid sometimes could not apply rules as their origin as revealed, to avoid from removing the maslahah (wisdom) that aimed by God through those rules. Therefore, this research attempts to explain the concept of the principle of considering maalat as well as its parameters in issuing fatwa of Muslim minorities. As known, some circumstances of Muslim minorities have their own characteristics which would be different than Muslim majorities in various aspects of life. Therefore, it is required for Mufti to consider maalat in issuing a fatwa, for the sake of maslahah of Muslim. Based on two methods: inductive and deductive, the findings are: considering maalat must be applied under parameters of ijtihad (an effort to issue the ruling from its sources); the rule must be understood in terms of its illah (legal reasoning) and its wisdom; the consequences must be real or strongly expected; considering priorities between maslahah; and do not abolish the original rule

Small businesses are beneficial for local economic prosperity as they contribute to the nation's financial gain and create job opportunities. At present, the Malaysian government aims to facilitate the growth of small businesses through innovation and productivity as a measure to become a high-income nation by 2020. However, agriculture sector-specific business data is still in scarce. Thus, this paper aims to provide the sociodemographic profile of Malaysian ASME owners as a measure to demonstrate the preparedness of small business owners, especially in the agribusiness sector to accept and practice changes promoted by authorities. Structured interviews were conducted with the aid of closed-ended questionnares with 297 respondents conveniently sampled from six different states: Terengganu,Perak, Selangor,Johor,Sabah and Sarawak. As a result, microscale businesses were found to dominate the business count for Malaysian ASMEs.Apart from that, 57.1% of businesses are conducting marketing as the core business activity. Processed food was found to be the most popular sub-sector ventured by Malaysian ASMEs owners, involving 41.6% of respondents. A gender imbalance of 16.2% was found in terms of participation with more male than female ASME owners. In terms of age, the participation of youth is 52.0%.However,only 32.6% of business owners had attained tertiary education. Most of the respondents (72.5) are married. In addition, 61.5% of ASMEs owners are having between one and five dependents

STEP file is a CAD file , which is Standard for the Exchange of Product model data. It is the next generation of data model between CAD/CAM and CNC system . It contains three-dimensional (3D) data in ISO 10303-21 format that can be recognized and utilized by most of CNC programs. However, not all data available in the STEP files are suitable for CNC G-Code programming. This paper describes the design, development and testing of an Integrated Interface System , which aims to provide tool path generation for machining operation using STEP file as an input file . The system provides function of reading and extracting the relevant information associated with the machining data from STEP file , which eventually writes the Geometric Code (G-Code) file format as an output file . The sample of machined block is designed from 3D CAD modeler that consisted of features need to be machined from a blank work piece and saved in the STEP file format. The validation process uses the tool path simulation via PC based CNC controller

The purpose of this study is to show that Malaysia as at 2019, cannot implement the rights envisaged under the newly incorporated Article 31bis of the TRIPS Agreement in respect of flexibilities on public health, as there are no provisions in the Patents Act 1983 permitting this. The main research question of this study is why Malaysia should amend its Patents Act 1983 to incorporate the flexibilities provided by Article 31bis, although these flexibilities are optional and not mandatory provisions. Malaysia must have effective strategies in implementing a good policy, law and governance in managing the country, especially in respect of public health issues and ensure that there is balance of rights between intellectual property owners and the public, at all times. This study is based on qualitative research, as the basis of this study is very much reliant on primary sources being the TRIPS Agreement and the Patents Act 1983, supported by secondary sources being journals and contents of authorities’ websites. This study is limited to issues related to public health and patents only and does not deal with other types of intellectual property. The study encompasses the relevant provisions of the TRIPS Agreement and Malaysian Patents Act 1983 related to patents and public health; suggestions as to the amendments to be made to the Patents Act 1983 in respect of Article 31bis; and a conclusion that although the rights envisaged under Article 31bis of the TRIPS Agreement is optional and not mandatory, it is prudent for Malaysia to reflect these rights into the Patents Act 1983 immediately. The outcome of the study shows that although Malaysia was early in accepting the public health flexibilities amendments of the TRIPS Agreement in 2015, it currently cannot exercise these flexibilities, unless the Patents Act 1983 is amended to incorporate these rights

    No full text
Economic development is done to achieve economic growth of a country. Unplanned economic development has a negative impact on environmental damage. The dynamics of economic growth and population is very potential for global warming caused by the accumulation of CO emissions in the air. This paper intends to investigate the effect of economic and population growth in increasing CO emissions in the air. The goal is to estimate the models that are able to illustrate the relationship between economic growth and the population towards the changes in CO emissions in the air. Model estimation is done by using product function in Cobb-Douglas, meanwhile parameter estimation is done by using ordinary least square method (OLS). The results of the analysis show that the Cobb-Douglas production function can significantly illustrate the relationship of economic and population growth influence to CO emission change. The strength of the relationship can be shown by the coefficient of determination which reached 98.0%. This shows the truth that the increase in CO emissions is significantly influenced by economic growth and population
