Target controlled infusion of remifentanil for fetal analgesia and immobilization during the ex utero intrapartum treatment procedure for Congenital High Airway Obstruction (CHAOS)
The objective of this case report is to highlight the use of maternal Target Controlled Infusion (TCI) of
Remifentanil to provide immobilization and analgesia to the fetal during Ex utero Intrapartum (EXIT)
procedure. A 37 weeks of gestation fetal was diagnosed with Congenital High Airway Obstruction Syndrome
(CHAOS). EXIT procedure was preferred as the most favourable approach of management. With the concurrent
use of general anaesthesia, TCI Remifentanil was infused to the mother with the aim to provide fetal
immobilization and analgesia during surgical tracheostomy on the fetal. Tracheostomy was successfully done
with excellent fetal immobilization without the requirement of other medications or muscle relaxant
administered to the fetal circulation. In performing a delicate fetal airway surgery, the anaesthesiologist must
achieve loss of consciousness, adequate analgesia and more importantly immobility to the fetal with a
significant uterine relaxation while safely anaesthetizing the mother. There are several approaches of achieving
fetal analgesia and immobility during EXIT procedure. These include the direct administration of anaesthetic
drugs to the fetal blood circulation via intravenous or intramuscular route, intra-amniotic delivery or delivery of
the anaesthetic drugs directly through maternal blood circulation in addition to inhalational anaesthetic agents.
In our case, fetal analgesia and immobility was achieved through maternal blood circulation using TCI of
Remifentanil and coupled with inhalational agent of sevoflurane
Mediating role of knowledge management effectiveness on HRM practices and organisation performance relationship
In this paper, the effects of ability-enhancing human resource management practices
(staffing, training), motivation-enhancing human resource management practices
(compensation, performance appraisal) and opportunity to perform-enhancing human
resource management practices (involvement, communication) were examined along with
knowledge management effectiveness (knowledge infrastructure capability, knowledge
process capability) on organisation performance of Jordanian banks. The construct of
organisational performance is measured by combination of turnover intention, service
quality and financial performance. The study employed convenience sampling to which 105
questionnaires distributed. This paper contributes to unlock the "black box" problem of the
little understanding of HRM-organisation performance relationship through the mediating
role of knowledge management effectiveness on HRM-organisation performance relationship
with the insights of ability motivation opportunity (AMO) and resource-based view (RBV)
theory. The findings show the significant impact of ability, motivation, opportunity-enhancing
human resource management practices and knowledge management effectiveness on
organisation performance in the Jordanian banks. This paper concludes with the
recommendations for the banks to strengthen the relationship between their HRM, knowledge
management effectiveness and their performance
Public rights and freedoms in contemporary Islamic thought
Pluralism and diversity are considered as one of the laws (Sunan) of God in His
creation. It is natural that Islam establish all the rules, and provide all the necessary
requirements in order to protect this pluralism and diversity whereby God created
us distinct in languages and colors. For this reason, Islam derived its strength and
greatness from the liability of these legislations, concepts and principles for
application on the ground, and from their being within the bounds of the limited
human capacity and energy. The problem of the research lies in the original
differences which make variance obvious between Islam and the contemporary
political thought in determining the rights and the public freedoms. The researcher
aims from this study to clarify the most important rights and freedoms in the
contemporary Islamic thought and to discuss the difference between the Islamic
epistemological model and the material epistemological model, and also to show
the differences between the Islamic conceptualization and the Western
conceptualization concerning the rights and the freedoms. In order to achieve the
aim of this study, the researcher used the descriptive analytical methodology. The
study reached the following results: that the human freedom should be committed
to the horizons of Shari’a (Muslim religious law), the limits of God, and that Islam
considers freedom as being necessary for humanity in general and not only for the
Muslim person alone. Equality is a guaranteed right for every human being and it is
a great basis on which religion is established. God made piety as the balance of
prederence between human beings. Islam determined precisely all rights and
freedoms by God’s commands and His limits which do not,as some claim , fetters
which tie up the energies of the human being and kill his aspirations and his
yearnings. Islam supports positive opposition and considers it under commanding good acts and prohibiting abominable acts as a collective duty on the Muslim
person, rather it is one of the basic rights which is represented in the freedom of
giving opinion within the limits of Sari’a ( Muslim religious law ) and its controls. The
study also concluded that the human being in the Islamic conceptualization enjoys
rights and freedoms but in the framework of the concept of the appointment of man
as God’s successor on the earth (al-istikhlaaf) and slavery to Almighty God,
whereas the Western conceptualization gives a free rein to man without a
restriction or a condition
Smart Quran application: Authority of digital mushaf usage in Malaysia
Al-Quran is the great revelation promised by Allah SWT of its protection
encompassing the aspect of recitation and writing. The revolving time has witnessed
various innovations featured by Islamic scholars to ensure that Al-Quran is
preserved. Beginning with mushaf which was transferred from bone, stone, palm
branch or animal skin into sheets of paper until the latest form which is digital,
scholars have never missed out from paying attention to its protection from all
aspects. Besides that, concern of the community also has played its role in increasing
the sensitivity of Muslim people to any form of mistake that happens in the publication
of Al-Quran mushaf and at the same time the perfectness of Al-Quran can be
preserved well and carefully. Concern by the Malaysia government through
development of this Smart Quran application indirectly is capable of controlling the
usage of various al-Quran mushaf application nowadays. Hopefully, this effort can be
continued for the sake of goodness for the global community

A proposed occupational safety and health management system model incorporating European foundation of quality management (EFQM) model
Despite the fact, that occupational accidents and resulting injuries and deaths sorely weaken
human capital, and negatively influence the productivity and competitiveness of firms, there is a
scarcity of preventive procedures and an absence of safety management systems among
companies. Moreover, there is very little research done where the concept of Total Quality
Management (TQM) as a business excellence strategy, which integrates the concept of
occupational safety and health management system (OSHMS). This paper incorporates the
concept of OSHMS within the perspective of TQM as a part of corporate culture in order to
develop an OSHMS model through integrating OSHMS with the European Foundation of Quality
Management (EFQM) Model, and define the critical factors for OSHMS excellence. The
proposed model can be applied in different companies regardless of the size, maturity or sector. Study findings suggest that OSHMS model has a positive impact on people results, OSH
performance, financial and non-financial performances. Therefore, deliver an evidence of the
linkage between employees’ protection and organisation’s excellence. A better understanding of
implementing OSHMS, and its enablers, will certainly support organizations to strategically
deploy resources and concentrate efforts to develop their business performance and safety and
health results

is r=-0.462, p<0.01]. It shows that the direction of relationship
