Peningkatan prestasi proses melalui peralatan kualiti berstatistik (improving process performance through statistical quality tools
memahami kepentingan pengumpulan data kualiti demi meningkatkan prestasi pengeluara
Generalisation of close-to-convex of complex order
Using the concept of operator I µ(> - 1,µ>0 ), we study some new classes of analytic
functions. Some inclusion relationships are investigated. We also show that these classes are
closed under convolution with a convex function. An application of the results is also

Prevalence of human papillomavirus genotypes in preinvasive and invasive cervical cancer-A UKM study
A cross sectional study was done to determine the prevalence and distribution of
human papillomavirus (HPV) genotypes in pre-invasive (cervical intraepithelial neoplasia, grade 3 or CIN 3) and invasive cervical cancer (ICC), in Universiti
Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre (UKMMC). A total of 80 paraffin-embedded
tumour tissue blocks (20 CIN 3, 60 invasive cancers) between 1999 to 2007 were
retrieved from the archives of the Department of Pathology. Patient’s medical records
were obtained from the Medical Records Office. Among invasive cancers (n=60),
squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) account for 75% and adenocarcinoma 25%. The
mean age of cases studied was 52.0 ± 12.2 years and Chinese was the predominant
ethnicity (66.3%). Twelve HPV genotypes were identified, namely, HPV 16, 33, 18, 39,
52, 45, 58, 59, 31, 35, 6 and 11. The prevalence of HPV was 92.5% with types 16
being the most common (73.8%), followed by types 33 (30%) and 18 (22.5%). A total
of 31 cases (38.8%) showed single HPV genotype, while 43 (53.8%) had multiple HPV
(two genotypes or more) genotypes. In ICC, HPV 16, followed by types 33, 18, 52 and
39 were the top five common HPV genotypes detected. High prevalence of HPV and
multiple HPV infections were major findings among patients with pre-invasive and
invasive cervical cance
Primary Thyroid Lymphoma: two different presentations of a rare disease
Primary thyroid lymphoma is a rare disorder accounting for about 2% of all malignant
lymphomas and less than 5% of thyroid malignancies. It is an aggressive disease with
poor outcome. The majority of thyroid lymphomas are non-Hodgkin lymphomas of Bcell
origin. Majority of cases occur in women in the sixth decade. We report two cases
of primary thyroid lymphoma and highlight the clinical issues and challenges posed by
this rare disease. Both cases presented with respiratory obstructive symptoms that
required surgical intervention. The optimal management for a primary thyroid lymphoma
be it chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgery or monoclonal antibodies is still debatable.
The role for surgery has evolved through the years but its importance in
emergency situations should not be overlooked. Both our patients had to undergo surgery
but only one patient received additional chemotherapy and radiotherapy. These
two case reports illustrated the difficulties in managing this rare disorder
Building liveable cities in Asia in the twenty-first century research and policy challenges for the urban future of Asia
This article focuses on the central question of what kind
of urban places need to be developed in Asia to satisfy the
requirements of sustainability and livability over the next
fifty years. The paper argues that the fact that Asia which
contains almost 60 per cent of the world’s population and
is presently engaged in engaged in a rapid phase of the
urban transition that will involve the addition of more than
a billion people to urban places over the next fifty years
means it imperative that urban policies be developed that
will create urban places that are sustainable and livable.
Yet there is at present there is a contradiction between
the “developmentalist “policies of many states that give
priority at the is phase of development to the material and
economic functions of urban places arguing that policies
for sustainability and livability can be introduced at a
later phase. The paper further argues that an increased
understanding of the processes underlying urban trends
in the 21st century suggests that it is not impossible
for the “developmental” and “sustainability” visions
to be introduced at the same time. This strategic vision
rests upon the development of research that will increase
the understanding of this process. Five main research
clusters are identified that focus on (1) the understanding
of the reconfiguration of extended urban spaces, (2) the
increasing functional integration of extended urban
spaces, (3) recognizing the importance of the urban fringes
(desakota) in the ecosystems of extended urban spaces. (4)
developing comparative research on the policy responses to
the challenges of extended urban spaces and, (5) developing
comparative research on the governance and management
of extended urban spaces. The conclusion of the article
suggests that in the light of the preceding discussion it is
possible to imagine two very different futures for the cities

Constructing identities in the workplace through request e-mail discourse – how does one benefit from it?
This paper discusses the construction of personal identities through the request e-mail
discourse by a group of professional English language teachers of a public education
institution in Hong Kong. Facing the downsizing of the civil service, the revised appraisal
system, and the tighter budget of the Hong Kong SAR government following the Asian
financial crisis, teachers working in Hong Kong public schools have less chances of
getting promotion and pay rises. To put themselves in an advantageous position in
relation to get a promotion and a pay rise, as argued in this paper, the teachers constructed
two personal identities online before their peers and superiors in their workplace. A total
of 50 e-mails met the two criteria that follow and formed the corpus of the present study:
containing at least one request, and having teachers of the same rank as the author and
recipients. The request e-mail discourse is analyzed at the clause level with respect to
transitivity, mood and modality by drawing upon systemic functional linguistics. It is
found that the teachers, using the resources available in the English language grammar,
constructed for themselves the identity of a responsible, hardworking member, and of a
member with authority and power. This paper hopes to achieve three aims – (1) to
contribute to the understanding of the constitutive effect of discourse; (2) to illustrate how
such effect could be manipulated by discourse producers in order to achieve both their
communicative and political aims; and (3) to enhance people’s e-mail communication
competency in the workplace
