Application of Gegenbauer Polynomials with Two Variables to Bi-univalency of Generalized Discrete Probability Distribution Via Zero-Truncated Poisson Distribution Series
The present study is unique in exploring bi-univalent functions, which has recently garnered attention from many researchers in Geometric Function Theory (GFT). The uniqueness lies in utilizing a generalized discrete probability distribution and a zero-truncated Poisson distribution combined with generalized Gegenbauer polynomials featuring two variables. We aim to obtain coefficient bounds, the classical Fekete-Szego inequality, and Hankel and Toeplitz determinants to generalize the probability of a gambler's ruin. Additionally, using the defined bi-univalent function classes contributes to the uniqueness of the obtained results

It was aimed to investigate whether average daily social media usage hours, level of coping with stressful situations, and mindful self-care skills have a predictive effect on secondary traumatic stress in adult social media users. The sample consisted of 405 adult social media users from the last four generations (Baby Boomers, X, Y, and Z), 179 males and 226 females. The participants were administered the 10-question Demographic Information Form, Coping Inventory for Stressful Situations Short Form (CISS-21), Mindful Self-Care Scale (MSCS), and Secondary Traumatic Stress Scale for Social Media Users (STSS-SM). As a result of the study, coping with stressful situations, mindful self-care, and average daily time spent on social media were found to be low predictors of secondary traumatic stress in social media users. The level of secondary traumatic stress in social media users is affected by variables such as gender, psychosocial support status, income status, reason for using social media, and the most frequently used social media platform. In light of these findings, the prevention of secondary traumatic stress in social media users in Turkey and the world, the treatment of individuals and society suffering from secondary traumatic stress, and the organization of new policies can make a significant contrubition
Investigating Türkiye’s financial nexus: A wavelet coherence analysis of sovereign CDS spreads, bond yields, stock index, and FX rates
This article investigates the intricate relationships between sovereign credit default swaps (CDS) and various Turkish financial assets, including the US Dollar to Turkish Lira exchange rate (USDTRY), the Borsa Istanbul 100 (XU100) stock index, and government bond yields. Employing a rigorous wavelet coherence analysis that captures the timefrequency domain, this study utilizes daily data from November 2008 to July 2022 period containing important financial, economic and global health crises, such as Great Recession, European Debt Crises, and COVID-19 pandemic. The wavelet coherence results uncover that the causality between variables is contingent on both the frequency domain and evolves dynamically over time, with the most significant interdependencies manifesting in the medium term. Moreover, the analysis reveals that government bond yields, and their respective volatilities positively impact CDS spread and its volatility. Similarly, the USDTRY rate leads to positive changes in the CDS spread. By contrast, the volatility of CDS spreads positively influences foreign exchange volatility and the XU100 index volatility. The CDS spread negatively affects the XU100 index. Overall, the findings elucidate the direction of causality between Turkish CDS spread and retained Turkish financial assets and then provide valuable information on the predictive power of those securities for investors, financial risk managers, and policymakers. © 2024 by the authors
Fake News Detection with Machine Learning Algorithms
Nowadays, with the advancement of technology, the use of news sources has also undergone a great evolution. News sources have constantly evolved from past to present, ranging from magazines to radios, from newspapers to televisions. The fact that it has become so easy to access news has caused society to pay more attention to fake news. Fake news has the ability to influence society through news sources such as social media, which can reach wider audiences with the development of technology. The difficulties of users in accessing accurate and reliable sources in this information flow that shapes their daily lives increases the potential for the spread of fake news, and it becomes increasingly difficult to distinguish between real and fake news. In this study, classification models for fake news detection were designed using machine learning algorithms. The dataset, which includes fake and real news examples, contains 42,000 examples. Each class, including fake and real samples, contains 22,000 sample data. In order to increase data quality, accuracy and usability, preprocessing methods were applied to the data set. The removal of numbers, stop words, and html tags was done in the pre-processing step to remove unnecessary information from the text. Models were created for fake news detection with singular and ensemble classification algorithms. Performance evaluation of the models was performed using 5-fold cross-validation. In the performance comparisons of the models, values such as accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, tp rate and fp rate were calculated. The highest performance results were observed in the random forest classification algorithm with an accuracy rate of 76%

This study aims to examine the postgraduate theses on organisational democracy by content analysis. Forty-one theses from 1993-2023 in the National Thesis Centre of the Council of Higher Education (YOK) were analysed. Most studies in master's theses were conducted in 2022 and in doctoral theses in 2019-2020. It was determined that the most frequently studied variables in master's theses were organisational democracy, democracy, organisation, organisational commitment; in doctoral theses, organisational democracy, democracy, organisational opposition, perception of organisational democracy. It was found that 89,66% of master's theses were quantitative, and 6,90% were mixed method; 75% of doctoral theses were quantitative, and 25% were mixed method. It is understood that Geçkil and Tikici's (2013) Organisational Democracy and Meyer-Allen's (1993) Organisational CommitmentScales were used to measure organisational democracy in master's theses prepared with quantitative method. In doctoral theses, Geçkil and Tikici's (2013) Organisational Democracy, Basım and Şeşen's (2006) Organisational Citizenship Behaviour, and Kassing's (2000) Organisational Opposition Scale were used. Master's theses on organisational democracy (n= 15) were prepared in the public sector, and doctoral theses (n= 6) were prepared as mixed. While 34,48% of the master's theses were prepared in the Departments of Educational Sciences and Business Administration, 58,33% of the doctoral theses were prepared in the Department of Business Administration. The study is expected to provide new perspectives to researchers by revealing the developments in the field of organisational democracy in Turkey
SİYASİ GÜCÜN GÖRSEL GÖSTERGESİ: TÜRK SİYASİ PARTİ LİDERLERİNİN INSTAGRAM PROFİL FOTOĞRAFLARININ DERİNLEMESİNE İNCELEMESİ
Contemporary uses of new communication technologies and social networking platforms not only encourage people's screen-scrolling habits to utilise their leisure time, but also serve the dissemination of perceptual content. Recent research has shown that the visual symbols that the public encounters when evaluating politicians can play a critical role in the consistency or change in their preferences. Therefore, the daily use of social media by political actors through attention-grabbing images or videos is considered as a new form of propaganda. In line with this approach, which constitutes the main purpose of this study, how profile photos on Instagram, the fastest growing social media application in 2022, are used by political actors is analysed. Analysing the codes contained in visual materials, which are accepted as an important communication tool by politicians, constitutes the general structure of the study. The tendency of Instagram users to communicate through visuals instead of text emphasises the importance of the data to be presented on this platform. Out of the 122 political parties actively operating in Turkey, five political parties that won the right to representation in the Turkish Grand National Assembly by passing the 10% election threshold were taken as a sample. Instagram profile photos of the leaders of these parties were analysed semiotically. As a result of the analyses, it has been revealed that the visual sign forms of two opposite political parties that advocate nationalism of different ethnic identities are largely similar and that each leader makes a visual presentation of the ideological identities of their parties with the photos they share from their personal accounts.

A comparative study on J.R.R. tolkien's the hobbit and Peter Jackson's the hobbit trilogy
John Ronald Reuel Tolkien's fantasy novel for children, The Hobbit, has always been regarded as a canonical work of art by the literary critics. The journey through Middle-earth has flourished with this novel and paved the way for his other canonical trilogy, The Lord of Rings. The novel has also been adapted for the cinema by the director, Peter Jackson with a series of three fantasy films. Whereas Tolkien has actually written the novel for children, Jackson has filmed the trilogy for the adults. Right along with this different aim on the target audience between Tolkien and Jackson, there are also numerous differences and changes between the novel and the film series. Thus, the purpose of this study is to compare J.R.R. Tolkien's novel, The Hobbit, orThere and Back Again (1937) with Peter Jackson's film series, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012), The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013) and The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (2014) in terms of the journey, the fellowship and the space based on Linda Hutcheon's adaptation theory. © 2024, IGI Global. Effects of post-polymerization conditions on color properties, surface roughness, and flexural strength of 3D-printed permanent resin material after thermal aging
Purpose: To evaluate the color, surface properties, and flexural strength of 3D-printed permanent crown resin subjected to different post-polymerization conditions after artificial aging.Materials and methods: Ninety (10 x 2 mm) disc-shaped specimens were printed by using permanent crown resin with SLA technology. Specimens were divided into nine different groups, subject to post-polymerization conditions at three different times (15, 20, and 30 min) and three different temperatures (40, 60, and 80 degrees C) (n = 10). Color and surface roughness measurements were repeated pre-post thermal aging (5.000 cycles, 5-55 degrees C) and a flexural strength test was carried out. Data were analyzed with Shapiro-Wilk, Kruskal-Wallis, ANOVA, Tukey HSD, and Dunn tests (alpha < 0.05).Results: Delta E-00 values showed results below the acceptable color threshold, except for the 30 min 40 degrees C group (Delta E-00 <1.8). No difference was found between the relative translucency parameter and surface roughness values of the 20 min 60 degrees C group recommended by the manufacturer and the other groups. A significant difference was found between the flexural strength values of the groups (p < 0.001).Conclusions: The color properties, surface topography, and mechanical properties of the printed permanent crown material were affected by different post-polymerization conditions: polymerized at different times and temperatures. Although the flexural strength and color change values showed promising results, more studies are required to evaluate its suitability for clinical use
The Effect of Sales and Customer Orientation on Salespeople's Work Performance and the Role of Spiritual Intelligence
Spiritual intelligence has been considered an important concept in studies in recent years. Spiritual intelligence, which is one of the mental capacities contributing to the cognitive and emotional competencies of individuals and providing them with values such as self-knowledge and mastery in mental states, also plays an important role in the work performance of salespeople. In this study, which reveals the role of spiritual intelligence in brands' sales and/or customer orientation depending on their understanding and goals, it is seen that spiritual intelligence does not assume a regulatory role but an important mediating role
