WOMEN AND FORESTS IN SOLIDARITY: A Multispecies Companionship Case From the Aegean Forests of Turkey
Building on a feminist multispecies perspective, this article examines the interwoven relationships between forest ecosystems and the lives of rural women living along the Aegean coast of Turkey. Ethnographic fieldwork conducted in the Aegean region's forest settlements between 2018 and 2022 forms the basis of this study. I focus on three ways women highlight their entanglements with forests into weaving conjoined webs of life: First, rural women's recollections of the forest and their understanding of the forest's ecosystem are firmly rooted in the ways they have grown up, providing a cultural context for women's subsequent forest advocacy. Second, rural women have a profound understanding of the edible plants that grow in the forests. Third, because they regularly forage with other women, rural women form deep relationships with other women and with the forests themselves. I show how these three factors-childhood memories, expertise in foraging and forest management, and deep ties of sociality-provide the impetus for rural women to protest deforestation. Such protests are driven by a collective concern for their own well-being, the good of their communities, and for forests. Çalışma sonucunda, örneklem kapsamında incelenen siyasi liderlerin deepfake videolarında hiciv unsurlarının ön planda olduğu, bu bağlamda siyasi liderlerin hiciv içeren deepfake türündeki videolarının YouTube’da daha fazla görüntülendiği ortaya koyulmuştur
What Does Synorotic Encounters/Intersections and Peratic Limits Mean in the Ontology of Vegetal and Animal Life?
Philosophers’ limit-ontologies have been one of the fundamental elements shaping their perspectives on vegetal and animal life. In this article, while tracing ontological approaches to limit in the history of philosophy, I will discuss the influence of three key concepts of limit (horos, peras, and synoros) found in Ancient Greek on the development of the Western metaphysical tradition. The conceptualization of "horotic boundary" that I will use throughout the article refers to definitions and distinctions based on external differences; "peratic limits" refer to both contours reduced to form and, in Heideggerian terminology, "the Being of beings"; "synorotic encounters/intersections" refer to the relationality of beings in life beyond the dualisms that close off the field. I aim to show that the horotic boundary, which establishes the paranthropos-anthropos dichotomy, undermines thought through the dominance of classifications of plants and animals that have been severed from their vital ties. Conversely, synorotic encounters/intersections and peratic limits present themselves as limit notions that enable the affirmation of life. In Shoshanah Dubiner's artworks Cell Garden and Bee's Wing, encountering the world of the tiny reminds us that life is not limited to human beings. In this regard, I argue that synorotic encounters, based on intersectionality rather than horotic boundaries, take place in the works of art. I also underline that in the peratic limits, there is a movement against the framing that prevents the possibilities in the way beings are revealed
THE ASYMMETRİC EFFECT OF PRODUCER PRİCES ON CONSUMER PRİCES İN TURKİSH ECONOMY
The aim of the study is to evaluate the asymmetric impacts of producer price on consumer prices and cointegration relationship between two price indexes for Turkish economy from 2003.M1 to 2022.M12. Another aim is to analyze the causality between Producer Price Index (PPI) and Consumer Prıce Index (CPI). The Autoregressive Distributed Lag Model (ARDL) and Non-Linear Autoregressive Distributed Lag Model (NARDL) is estimated to determine relation between PPI and CPI and asymmetric effects of PPI on CPI. The causality relation is examined using Toda-Yamamoto Granger Causality method. According to the results, there is a cointegration relation between CPI and PPI. The ARDL model implies that PPI has a positive impact on CPI both in the short time period and in the long time period. The NARDL model indicates that although positive shocks to the PPI have positive effects on CPI, negative shocks do not have statistically significant effect on CPI. In addition to these results, Toda-Yamamoto Granger Causality method indicates that a bidirectional causality is found between two price indexes
Impact of Digital Signing on Malware in Public Key Infrastructure
From past to present, cryptography has undergone a significant evolution from past to present, with various methods used in many applications. The development of strong encryption algorithms over time has established the Public Key Infrastructure, which ensures security in digital communication. A key component of this infrastructure, digital signing, is widely used today and plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of data. This study evaluates the impact of digital signing methods on the reliability of malware in the context of today's cybersecurity landscape. The effects and consequences of malware are increasing day by day, and commonly used e-signatures and digital certificates may also exacerbate these impacts. In this context, the study includes a comparison of the reliability metrics of malware by applying digital signing to examples created using different methods. Tests have shown that signed malware applications are less likely to be detected by security systems compared to unsigned ones. In summary, this research aims to reveal the extent to which digital signing affects the spread of malware and to contribute to the development of cybersecurity measures
Ortak Dış ve Güvenlik Politikası Çerçevesinde Türkiye-Avrupa Birliği İlişkileri: Kimlik ve Güvenlik
After the Cold War, Turkiye was called a security-con Bsuming actor due to its closeness to conflict zones, terror trouble and its with neighbors territory issues. Both these reasons and the identity-based security approaches of European Union (EU) member states have: it also created reasons for Turkiye's exception from Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP)and EU. Subsequently, Russia's intervention to Ge Borgia, Arab Spring, migration and humanistic crises, the annexation of Crimea, Brexit, the COVID-19 pan Bdemic and the occupation of Ukraine have threate Bned the global and regional security. Against these threats, Turkiye has contributed to security by taking on a mediator role in the Russian and Ukrainian cri Bses, initiating initiatives to ensure food and energy security, taking the lead in the migration and refu Bgee crisis, and participating in UN, NATO and EU operations. However, these contributions were over Bshadowed by the opposition of Greece and the Rum Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus to Turki Bye within the Union. Although Turkiye was an actor producing security after 2010, it was criticized in the 2022 Strategic Compass Document. In this manner, both evolving security approaches and current de Bvelopments; Its requires examining and reanalyzing the relations Turkiye-EU, focusing on security. © 2024, Ebru Bagci. Impact of body weight-based dosing of palonosetron and ondansetron on postoperative nausea and vomiting following laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy: a randomized, double-blind study
Background Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) is a frequent adverse effect following laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy. Palonosetron with a standard dosing (75 mu g) schedule has been questioned due to its low efficiency in obese patients. This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness and safety of the body weight-based dosing of palonosetron in managing PONV following laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy. Methods A single-center, prospective, double-blinded randomized study was conducted between August 2021 and December 2021. Patients who underwent laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy were prospectively recruited in the study. One hundred patients were randomly divided into palonosetron (Group P) and ondansetron (Group O). The demographic and clinical variables were recorded. The primary outcome of the study was the incidence of PONV between the two groups during the hospitalization. The secondary outcomes were the number of rescue anti-emetic and analgesic medications and the Functional Living Index-Emesis scores. Results There were 50 patients in each group (Group P and Group O). There were significant differences in the scores of POVN, nausea, and vomiting favoring Group P. In Group P, the rate of patients using rescue anti-emetics was significantly lower. The incidence of complete response and proportion of patients with higher Functional Living Index-Emesis scores were significantly higher in patients using palonosetron. Conclusions The use of palonosetron significantly reduced the incidence of PONV following laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy. There was a significant improvement in the scores of Functional Living Index-Emesis in patients using palonosetron

Aim: This study analyzed the quality and adequacy of YouTube videos about fiber posts. Material and Methods: YouTube was searched for the phrase “fiber post.” From an initial sample of 216 videos, only 123 met all inclusion criteria and were subjected to the content quality assessment. After identifying the videos’ characteristics, their viewership data were noted. Content quality was assessed using the Video Information Quality Index (VIQI) and the Global Quality Scale (GQS). Statistical analyses were performed with the Shapiro–Wilk, Mann–Whitney U, and Fisher’s exact tests. Results: Most of the selected videos were uploaded by healthcare professionals (69%). The most common topic was materials (84%), followed by cavity preparation type (72%). The vast majority of the videos were categorized as “low content” (90%). High-content videos obtained higher VIQI and GQS scores. Positive correlations were found between the total content score and the VIQI and GQS scores. Another notable finding is a positive correlation between the VIQI and GQS scores (p<0.001). Conclusion: YouTube videos about fiber posts do not constitute an adequate source of information, offering generally poor-quality content. Healthcare professionals should strive to upload higher- quality videos to allow patients to access more accurate and quality information
