    Get PDF
Heather, a Southern alumna, shared her experience as a student missionary and teacher in Pohnpei, Micronesia. She reflected on the experiences that led her to serve as a missionary and how her time in Pohnpei shaped her faith and relationships. She described the unique culture of the island and the challenges and rewards of missionary life, emphasizing the impact it had on her personal and spiritual growth. Pohnpei is one of the four states of the Federated States of Micronesia, located in the western Pacific Ocean. It is the largest and most developed island in the nation, known for its lush tropical landscape, heavy rainfall, and rich biodiversity. Pohnpei has a deep cultural heritage, with traditions that emphasize communal living and respect for elders. The island is also home to the ancient ruins of Nan Madol, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Personality and Academic Performance Among Undergraduate Students: The Big Five

    No full text
This study explores the relationship between the personality traits in the Five Factor Model and academic achievement in students. Past research on the influence of these traits on academic performance has shown various results; some report a positive correlation, while others show a negative correlation. This study aims to clarify this relationship by examining how these five personality traits correlate with Grade Point Average (GPA). Additionally, we looked into the role of motivation, either extrinsic or intrinsic, as an influence. Our study used a survey given to students to assess extraversion levels through the Big 5 Personality Inventory and motivational factors. We hypothesize that extraversion, openness, and conscientiousness will show a significant positive correlation with a higher GPA and that extraverted individuals will report more extrinsic motivation compared to introverted individuals. We also hypothesize that agreeableness will have no correlation and that neuroticism will be associated with a lower GPA. This research will contribute to a better understanding of how personality traits influence academic success in many disciplines. Keywords: personality, academic achievement, extraversion, openness, neuroticism, conscientiousness, agreeableness, motivation

Evaluating Hyper-V vs Proxmox: Performance Comparison for Virtualization*

    Get PDF
Virtual environments play a significant role in the IT industry, with many companies relying on this technology. With VMware’s increasing licensing costs following its acquisition by Broadcom, many businesses are seeking alternative virtualization solutions. This study evaluates the performance of Proxmox and Hyper-V by implementing a three-node high-availability cluster for each platform and conducting benchmarking tests on CPU performance, storage efficiency, and network throughput. Our results indicate that Hyper-V performs better with Windows-based virtual machines, while Proxmox demonstrates superior performance with Linux-based workloads. Additionally, Proxmox offers a more user-friendly cluster setup, whereas Hyper-V requires greater technical expertise

Jesus’ Model of Teaching with Relationship-Rich Techniques to Establish a Biblical Worldview

    Get PDF
The classroom, whether physical or virtual, is the primary point of contact between faculty-student and student-student. It is the single most important venue for students to experience the learning environment, build webs of relationships, and ask questions of meaning and purpose. One of the most important things faculty and staff can do is help university students build a diverse social network and develop a biblical worldview while they are at the university. An individual’s worldview affects all aspects of life, especially decisions related to professions and vocations. This paper emphasizes how to teach as Jesus did by including examples of techniques and how to use them in the classroom as relationship-rich interactions. Parrott (2018) identifies specific characteristics that professors can emulate by teaching as Jesus taught. He was mindful, approachable, grace-filled, spoke boldly in love, and was self-giving

Non-Overlapping Magisteria vs. Unity in Knowledge

    Get PDF
One philosophical option available to the scientist who believes in God is non-overlapping magisteria (NOMA): treating the domains of science and faith as separate, with science and logic used for the empirical realm (fact and theory) and religion for questions of morality and ultimate meaning. At first glance this seems better than an inconsistent or disjoint worldview, which may require accepting mutually inconsistent “truths” or believing one thing in church and another during the rest of the week. In this paper, arguments for and against NOMA are reviewed, and note made of the fractured and/or illogical thinking that it requires. Taken to its logical conclusion, NOMA reserves all reality as the domain of science, leaving religion with the things that “aren’t actually real”. This amounts to an acceptance of the fundamental proposition of scientism, i.e., that only science provides real answers to real questions. Examples from the works of Francis Schaeffer and Nancy Pearcey highlight the problems with the NOMA approach, and contrast it with a unified worldview
