Innovation and Expansion in Translation Process Research

Innovation and Expansion in Translation Process Research reflects this broadening scope and reach, emphasizing ongoing methodological innovations, diversification of research topics and questions, and rich interactions with adjacent fields of research. The contributions to the volume can be grouped within four loosely defined themes: advances in traditional topics in translation process research, including problems in translation, translation competence or expertise, and specialization of translators; advances in research into the emotional or affective aspects of translating and translator training; innovations in machine translation and post-editing; expansion of cognitively-oriented translation studies to include editing processes and reception studies. This timely volume highlights the burgeoning growth, diversification, and connectivity of translation process research.</p

Halliday’s Winery, 2018

The idea of establishing a winery began at Debonne Vineyards in Madison, Ohio, the location that supplies and delivers wine to this establishment. With wine labels named after prominent and local historical figures, the location offers a variety of sweet to dry red and white wines and mead (honey wine).</p

Diversity Among American Medical Students by Parental Education: Improving Participation Rates for a Historically Underrepresented Community
No full text/sites/default/files/journals/5/articles/217/submission/thumbnail.jpgDemonstrating their commitment to diversity, the American Medical Association and the Association of American Medical Colleges advocate for enrolling more students from educationally disadvantaged backgrounds. Nevertheless, published research shows that those raised in these circumstances are significantly underrepresented at America\u27s medical schools. The country’s decades long upward redistribution of wealth suggests that unless school officials act to counter this trend, these discrepancies in educational opportunities will likely increase. This paper offers a workable, six-part plan medical school administrators nationwide can use to remedy this problem.</p

The Big East Breakup: Effects on Competitive Balance
No full texthttps://kent-islandora.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/node/9934/8826-thumbnail.jpgWhereas much of the research on competitive balance deals with the addition of one or more members to a conference and compares the competitive balance before and after the addition(s), the authors of this study investigated competitive balance in men’s basketball, using the extreme case of the breakup of the Big East Conference, which led to a reconstituted Big East Conference and the formation of the American Athletic Conference (AAC). Given that the reconstituted Big East Conference had basically chosen its members, whereas the AAC need to scramble around to replace its departing members, it was hypothesized that the reconstituted Big East Conference would have a more competitively balance conference than the newly formed AAC. Using the standard deviation, it was discovered that competition among men’s basketball teams displayed more competitive balance in the reconstituted Big East conference than in the AAC.</p
Salary Disparities Between Male and Female Head Coaches: An Investigation of the NCAA Power Five Conferences

This has led to continued and increased criticisms of current gender constructs within the NCAA and specifically the way in which coaches are compensated. The primary purpose of this study was to determine whether gender was a significant predictor of compensation for basketball coaches of men\u27s and women\u27s programs at the Division I level, while also assessing a variety of revenue and productivity variables. Results indicated that gender was not a statistically significant predictor of compensation. Rather, a host of revenue-specific variables were found to be the primary drivers of compensation for both male and female coaches.</p
